  1. Based on your analysis, the White Sox got like +$20 M surplus in their Giolito trade. (Quero was a 50 grade position player and they're about $7 M more valuable than a 50 grade pitcher) Burnes is much better than Giolito, so the $10 M difference in your analysis doesn't make it unreasonable.
  2. I don't think I am. Using recent trades with SP with similar control, a reasonable return is a top 50 prospect (AJSS) in baseball or a player equivalent, another top 100 prospect (Waldrep) in baseball or player equivalent, and another piece or 2 further away based on the quality of the front half. The Brewers should hold onto Burnes in the off chance they can't get a package of that quality.
  3. It's going to take both coming back to make any deal for Burnes. Whether they choose to meet that price is another discussion altogether.
  4. I think any trade of Burnes to the Braves would have to include AJSS and Waldrep.
  5. That would be a poor extension given he has 1 year pre arb and 3 years arb left.
  6. The Murphy deal was only 6 years $73 M covering his 3 arb seasons and 3 FA years with an 8 year option. I would do the 7 years $80 M with an 8th year option for Contreras.
  7. Players are only eligible for 1 PPI draft pick in their career.
  8. Going for that PPI draft pick if he wins ROY.
  9. 8 years around $80 M probably breaks down to something like 1.5/3.5/5.5/8/11/14/16/18 and the buyout in the $3-5 M range for the first option.
  10. Mitchell/Wiemer and Logan Henderson isn't getting Bryce Miller or Logan Gilbert.
  11. Jokes aside. Someone hasn't seen Arenado's defensive metrics from last year. Not that he was bad compared to the position as a whole, but bad for his career production there.
  12. They still have their garbage defense to worry about in trying to make this work.
  13. You would not be looking at a Black type prospect going back for Eloy Jimenez at $16 M guaranteed for 1 season. He'd have to have a pretty big year to exercise any of his options. He's a lottery ticket type acquisition.
  14. Youbwould be signing Garver to play 1B/DH and maybe serve as a 3rd catcher.
  15. Garver makes sense, but that is overestimating what it will take to sign him. I suggested a deal similar to Omar Narvaez' last offseason. (2 year $17 M) Maybe go up to Christian Vazquez's 3 year $30 M deal.
  16. Sean Murphy signed a 6 year $73 M extension in his first arbitration season last offseason. 7 years $80 M would definitely get it done assuming Contreras doesn't want to go year to year instead.
  17. As long as they consistently get to the playoffs, they'll win a World Series at some point.
  18. His peripherals never matched that lofty ERA+. (3.51 FIP 4.05 xFIP) if he cost a 5th starters price in trade, I'd be fine acquiring him.
  19. I don't think it's good right now. They went April to at least October with no contact with him.
  20. We'd have to get actual prospect talent back alongside Castellanos for the trade to make sense. If they want to send Abel with Castellanos, I'd be willing to listen.
  21. Digging through all the non tendered players being reported tonight, there's some interesting names I think the Brewers should take a look at. 1B/DH Juan Yepez RP Josh Staumont RP Jovani Moran RP Albert Abreu RP Lou Trivino SP Spencer Turnbull What non tender names do you think the Brewers should look at?
  22. Top of the rotation if you only look at ERA. His peripherals all suggested a 4+ ERA guy. Basically what Lauer was for the Brewers pre 2023.
  23. A reasonable trade for Burnes to the Cubs would be Horton, Cassie/Shaw, and another piece or 2 further away or Morel as the 3rd piece if you want to go that way. If a Burnes to Cubs trade happens, it won't be reasonable.
