  1. It’ll be interesting sending them back to Nashville if they rake while rostered. Plus it forces the team to roster ahead of when they might want to. Just easier going with Naquin/Anderson in RF.
  2. Saving Mark money? That’s not the reason the team will keep the trio down for the minimum 15 days. Its all about the extra year isn’t it? And it absolutely should be. We all know this SM team has to max out their talent to have a chance to compete long-term, and to pretend that shouldn’t be the priority, imo, is sorta ridiculous. If the team is going to extend any of the trio they need that extra year as leverage as well. That should be the priority, not potentially losing that year just to have them rostered OD.
  3. Yes, especially during the offseason when teams just aren’t desperate enough to trade their best prospects, choosing the FA route instead. This is why I believe the team will hold Burnes and only trade him at the deadline if they are out of contention. Burnes & the draft-pick will likely be more valuable than trading Burnes during the offseason.
  4. I agree with you that Arnold is the biggest reason for the Brewers minor league success. His talent evaluation skills & player development background were very likely what made him wanted by Stearns in the first place. The team’s recent success internationally, imo, is in large part thanks to him and his work with Mike Groopman. If CC decides to take time away from the game for family reasons, I’m confident Arnold/Attanasio will replace him with a manager that can keep this winning train moving along. I’ve never been more confident in the trajectory of this organization as I am right now.
  5. He sure looked good pitching against us while with Pittsburgh. I sure do love this team’s PDS. Fascinating to see what happens with him this spring.
  6. Agree with the author that Bryse Wilson is a virtual lock to make the bullpen unless he really stinks it up in ST. I think the Brewers feel his stuff will play-up some pitching shorter stints out of the pen as well.
  7. Not having Hader’s 4.24 ERA & Roger’s 5.48 ERA should help with the performance of this year‘s bullpen over last year’s pen.
  8. I’m hoping the team can add a couple of big-armed starter prospects into the system from this draft. We have a decent number of 3-5 starter potentials in the farm right now, but outside of Misiorowski, no realistic frontline starters.
  9. They protected the teams future while at the same time improving the ‘23 team. They also have financial flexibility moving forward for opportunistic acquisitions both by trade (adding salary) or FA.
  10. Couldn’t disagree more. I’m giving them an A offseason. Arnold & co. have improved the offense (Contreras & Winker), starting pitching depth (Miley, Wilson, Junk, Miller) pen arms (too numerous to list, but a boatload and a half at least), infield depth (Anderson, Miller, Toro), and OF depth (Perkins, Bolt, Harrison). They’ve improved the farm’s pitching depth as well (Yeager, Seminaris, Hernandez, Junk). They accomplished all this without blocking their talented AAA prospects from playing-time if they perform.
  11. Every scout & evaluator I’ve read says plus defense from Moore, so count me as non-concerned with his errors down below. Am impressed with his slugging though. Any farm with Robert Moore at #27 is incredibly deep.
  12. I would agree with that assessment. But there’s something to be said with mixing and matching as well, especially from a team that has had a lot of success doing that in the past. They have more “stuff” arms than they’ve had since the Knebel-Jeffress-Hader days. I like the odds of this team finding multiple closing options after this season moving forward.
  13. Things change. Uribe, Guerra, Peguero, Varland, all have the stuff to close if they breakout
  14. Getting something is better than nothing if he ends up injured. Throwing that pitch makes his arm a ticking time-bomb and maybe some GM will take a chance.
  15. Hoping for some serious breakouts from among our large stable of bullpen possibilities this season. Hopefully he gets thru the championship season healthy and the team has other closer options moving forward so we can trade Devin next offseason.
  16. Yeah, I think Sal was just in over his head as GM of the Brewers and it also was awful timing for him with Selig leaving his Brewers to save the game for small-market teams, including his. No real budget left for him by Wendy (Bud, even tho completely out of decision-making and ownership of the team to eliminate conflict of interest, likely didn’t want the team to win too much, while he and Reinsdorf convinced the large market owners to share revenue). But his hires could have been better, and as you pointed out, he could have sold-off, gone young, but wow, probably wouldn’t have helped much with the teams poor drafting and non-existent international department (Nilsson notwithstanding). Good guy, and pretty cool he decided to stay in Wisconsin to live-out his life.

  18. Agree with your notes, in fact if I could re-do my list I’d probably take Hedbert out and replace him with Small, but anyhow, nice job on your list. My one complaint would be having Cameron Wagoner ranked as low as you did, Middendorf as well. After watching him pitch in the AFL championship game — count me as impressed with his stuff.
  19. 1. Sal Frelick—superstar player on the way. Eventual 20+ HR/25 SB .320/.400/.475 GG LF. 2. Jackson Chourio— if he keeps hitting thru AA/AAA, 11 year extension please. 3. Joey Wiemer— 30/30 potential, GG RF. 4. Jeferson Quero— elite defense, above average hitter, controls the running game — will be a huge weapon. 5. Brice Turang— solid 3-5 WAR SS. 6. Jacob Misiorowski— command improved at instructs. Fills out and sits 99, touching 104, 2800rpm SL, big CB, potential ace. 7. Robert Gasser— above average pitches with above average command. A cutter away from a potential TOR starter. 8. Garrett Mitchell— biggest wild card prospect in the game. Could fail — could superstar. 9. TylerBlack— another elite BTB hitter but without a glove. 1B? 10. Eric Brown— good glove with speed & pop. 11. Robert Moore— scouts rave about his defense. 9 HR’s down under impressed me. 12. Jansen Junk— impressed with his video’s. Brewers lab will turn him into a nice # 4 starter. 13. Abner Uribe— reliever has to be special for me to rank him this high. His FB/SL combo screams dominant closer. 14. Daniel Guilarte— Brewers exited, I’m excited. 15. Cameron Wagoner—97+ with a good breaking ball. Hoping they start him. 16. CRod (P)— on his way to mid-rotation potential. 17.) Cam Devanney— maybe the most underrated prospect in the system. Wouldn’t surprise me if he’s the teams starting 3B in ‘24 18. Stiven Cruz— stuff impresses. Hard to hit. 19. Hedbert Perez— still only 20. 20. Freddy Zamora— no idea what happened to his defense last year but if he’s fully healthy has the talent. This is the best top 11 prospects I’ve ever seen for this team — 53 years and counting. Underrated farm. Keith Law has this one right.
  20. I also wanted Burnes traded this offseason, but I’m guessing they were quite disappointed with their feeler trade options. I also think they should not sign any of the 3 to extentions, but if they do sign 1 I hope it’s Woodruff. Where I differ the most is in thinking the team doesn’t have the talent in the farm to continue to contend post-big 3 with just draft-picks. I believe they do. And with 2 more drafts and 2 more minors seasons I’m confident they could even have a couple of starters ready to rotation, besides Gasser. I don’t think the team will want to take a step back in ‘24, instead choosing to go for it again with the big 3.

  22. Ok, so when does the team trade the big 3? Assuming they are in contention the next two seasons.
  23. Disappointing. This is going to keep some deserving stateside play held back in the DSL.
  24. I don’t think it makes any difference since based on him saying he expects to begin the year at Nashville, my guess is the team has already told him that’s where he’ll be to start the year.
  25. I just don’t see the team trading any of the big 3 if they are in contention. Maybe an extension on Woodruff or Adames, so my guess would be — A Woodruff extension and the other 2 held for the picks and all-in to win.
