  1. Few weeks? More like 7 weeks, and those 7 weeks tanked his trade value. He’s back to being a 1-pitch pitcher who’s command can leave him at any time. You say Gasser is a 4/5 starter, I say he’s got 2/3 starter potential. Ruiz May very well be a 4th OF on this team, since they are loaded with talented OF’s, but as a trade-chip he has value.
  2. Agree to disagree then. This team had too many flaws to overcome entering the postseason. Just my opinion.
  3. Couldn’t agree less. How many teams would have wanted a closer that couldn’t close? Can we not remember just how bad Hader was for the month prior to the deadline? Which one of those teams you mentioned was trading a huge prospect package for that Hader? I’ll tell you, none of them. Thankfully Preller offered and we accepted, or this team would have been stuck with him this offseason and his diminished trade-return. We now have arguably our best pitching prospect, and near big-league ready at that, and a near top 100 prospect also near big-league ready. Blame Stearns for the handling/communication of the trade, not the return.
  4. Not flawed, the truth. 4 pitchers, no matter how good, were not carrying this team thru 4 rounds of the playoffs. Ashby and Peralta weren’t stretched and hadn’t pitched enough to get their command back. The offense was terrible all September, and abhorrent vs LHP all year. This team had no chance and would have been by far the worst playoff team in the postseason. This season needed to come to an end.
  5. BA has Black at 45 as well. With the shift-limitation, I believe 2B defense becomes more valuable next season, especially range, and with that, goes any realistic chance of Black being this teams starting second-baseman long-term. He’s looked good in CF, so maybe he becomes a really nice trade-chip with a nice minors season next year, or if the team loves his bat potential as much as I believe they do, an eventual move to 1B could be in the cards.
  6. You very well could be right about Burnes not being traded this offseason, but trading him next offseason severely limits the return because a team like the Dodgers will have a more difficult time extending him with only 1 year til FA. Burnes at $18M for 1 year probably has 30-35% of the trade-value of Burnes at 2 years, starting at $11M. We’ll just have to agree to disagree on Renfroe.
  7. The time to trade Burnes is this offseason because the trade haul received would be vastly superior to what we would get next offseason. A team like the Dodgers would have a huge desire to bring Burnes “home” and extend, giving us our Burnes “replacement”, Bobby Miller, plus a positional stud like Vargas or Cartaya plus. That trade this offseason makes perfect sense for both teams. We have 4 AAA OF’s ready to start their final and most difficult stage of development, facing big-league pitching, and Renfroe blocks this from happening. They have 6 OF’s for 3 spots if and when Renfroe is traded. Yelich & TT can man LF and RF respectively until the possible service-time considerations are over. Next season OF will be the deepest part of the team. The $11M saved can improve other area of the team
  8. Make it 3. Team has enough OF talent to produce the 2.2–2.5 WAR that Renfroe would likely give the team this coming year. A trade of Renfroe will net a couple of lottery-type prospects, but more importantly save the team $11M off the payroll, of which that savings can be used in other areas like adding starting-pitching depth needed with the possible trade of Burnes this coming offseason.
  9. 1. Chourio 2. Frelick 3. Quero 4. Wiemer 5. Misiorowski 6. Mitchell 7. Turang 8. Gasser 9. Black 10. Brown 11. Wagoner 12. Ruiz 13. Moore 14. Avina 15. Devanney 16. Mendez 17. Hedbert 18. Uribe 19. Henderson 20. Guilarte 21. Cruz 22. Lara 23. CRod-P 24. Warren 25. Areinamo 26. Garcia 27. Adams 28. Wood 29. O’Rea 30. Small Deepest top 30 I can ever remember. Easy top 5 positional prospects system in the game.
