  1. Pepiot is no slouch, and Vargas could also be a star. Most importantly the development arc with Pepiot & Miller fits the need for big-armed starters in this teams ‘25 rotation.
  2. Tiedemann is at least a half year and more likely a full year behind Bobby Miller and imo, not quite the prospect Miller is. Getting 2 big-league readies, and another near BLR trumps anything I’ve seen out there as far as a potential trade package for Burnes. It extends the SP pitching train we have now far into the future, without interruption, and with a Quintana FA signing, still allows for this team to contend this coming season.
  3. Miller is the prize. He’s the real TOR potential and Burnes eventual replacement. Pepiot helps the starter depth this season and Vargas is big-league ready. Cartaya has roughly the same ETA as Quero, who a year from now could give Cartaya a run for his money as a top C prospect. 6-8 years of Burnes trumps a couple years of Adames for the Dodgers, imo.
  4. Miller, Pepiot, and Vargas for Burnes seems about right. The Dodgers extending Burnes would be less term/money than competing with teams on a FA contract for Rodon. MKE gets 2 big-league readies in Vargas and Pepiot and an arm for sometime post S2 of ‘23.
  5. Disagree that Toronto makes the most sense as a trade partner. If the team trades Burnes this offseason, they will want a future potential TOR arm in return, and close to being big-league ready as well and the Blue Jays best pitching prospects are 2-4 years away, which makes them too risky, imo. The Dodgers make the most sense for Burnes, with Bobby Miller a potential future TOR starter and already at AAA. They have Pepiot, Vargas, Busch, all near big-league ready as well. With the Dodgers being Burnes home-town team, I’m guessing they’ll be thinking they can extend him to a below market deal so they just might have a little more incentive to trade some of their best prospects.
  6. You think the team will move Brown straight to Biloxi and skip Wisconsin? Seems a little aggressive to me.
  7. And even with a new local tv deal that pays $40M/year, it’s still one of the smallest in baseball and at least $20M less than SD gets. SD also drew more than 600,000 fans than MKE did and at higher ticket prices. They also own real-estate outside of Petco park that pays them untold millions. $100M+ more in revenue, easy, which just happens to be the disparity in payroll between the two teams.
  8. The Brewers were a vastly inferior team to both teams you listed. The team only had 3 healthy and stretched starters, a homer-prone late inning bullpen and their best offensive player all September, a rookie. And yeah, they couldn’t hit lefty starters. Counsell overperformed the month of September getting that team 15 wins.
  9. If Cousins is healthy I probably should have put him in instead of Gott, since I believe he has 1 more option and Gott doesn’t.

  11. LH version of Jake Cousins perhaps?
  12. At a minimum, the team needs to add a veteran high-leverage arm, preferably LH. One of Hand or Chafin, would work. Both made 6.5M this season and will likely demand a raise due to performance, so whoever can be had for less should be the preferred route. A backend of Williams-Chafin/Hand-Bush would be ok, especially with Strez’s breakout and the potential of Uribe making his mark this season. Would like both of Hand & Chafin, but $16-$20M id probably too much for Stearns to pay, even with money savings from trading Renfroe and letting Wong walk. So here’s my bullpen: Williams-Hand-Bush-Uribe-Strez-Milner-Box-Gott

  14. Yeah Small is a mess. Has no idea where where the ball is going when it comes out of his hand. Disagree that he doesn’t have swing and miss stuff though. Had 12 whiffs vs the Cubbies in less than 3 innings before he lost his release-point. Hopefully the lab & coaches can figure-out a fix for that release-point so we can see his deceptive stuff get hitters out again on a consistent basis.
  15. The team was 4 games under .500 the last 4 months of the season. Those team you cited were healthy and playing good ball entering the postseason, our team was not.
  16. Not sure if there’s a team that has improved their international talent procurement system more than this team has in the last 5 years.
  17. Rogers coming into the year was an easy top 10 closer in the game, and while he struggled pre-deadline, his FIP & Sierra showed probable improvement moving forward, so I can’t fault the FO for wanting Rogers as part of the Hader trade package.
  18. Absolutely would have made that trade because of the disaster that was Josh Hader for more than a month prior to the deadline. I was surprised Stearns was able to trade him and even more surprised he was able to get-back what he did. 1.5 years of a commandless (at the time), expensive Hader, for another top flight closer and 2 near big-league readies was a great baseball trade. I also believe the team, because of pitching injuries and regression were a shell of what they could have been. They added a future rotation arm as early as post S2 of next season. That is huge. The organizations prospect weakness is in starting pitching above A+, so this helped add a starter before the next possible wave of ‘25/‘26. After Gasser, we now need 1 more big-arm added before the departure of our big 3 (Woody-Burnes-Lauer) to continue the pitching-train. I’m assuming an extension of Woody and or Lauer. Ruiz was just an added bonus in the deal. I know I’m probably higher than most on Gasser, but from what I’ve seen and read he’s more than a backend starter. More of a future #2/#3 I’d say, and he alone makes the Hader trade worth it to me, especially since I didn’t like the teams chances post-deadline. Ill take the bird in the hand, over the return Hader would have gotten us this offseason.
  19. If the team wants to contend without a rebuild they will need to extend Woodruff or trade him next offseason. Burnes isn’t getting extended, so he will need traded this offseason or next. A trade of Burnes this offseason returns more than twice what the team would get waiting a year and just as importantly gets his replacement starter into the system a year earlier as well. The goal needs to be to get his replacement into the rotation by OD of ‘24. This is why I believe the team will trade Burnes this offseason. They can buy an innings-inning starter like Quintana or Cueto that can replace his innings but will take a hit performance-wise obviously. Outside of Gasser, the teams best minors starters are 3 years away from helping the big-club and that there-in lies the problem. Let’s say the team extends Woodruff, and signs Quintana to a 2 year deal, that gives them a ‘23 rotation of: Woodruff-Peralta-Quintana-Ashby-Lauer-Houser?-Depth signings-Gasser (July)-Burnes replacement (post-S2). 2024– Woodruff-Peralta-Ashby-Lauer (extended?)-Quintana-Gasser-Burnes replacement-Depth starters 2025- Woodruff-Burnes replacement-Peralta-Ashby-Gasser-Burnes replacement-Lauer?-Misiorowski?-Rodriguez?Cruz?Henderson? By ‘25, Burnes replacement could be our 2nd or 3rd best starter. Now if the team is ok with a rebuild, all this I’ve done is moot and they go another year full bore, then likely rebuild. ’

  21. Yes I do.
  22. My point is — the Phillies are a better team than MKE and should have made the playoffs over the Brewers, which they did. Imo, anyone that thinks the ‘21 Brewers were a playoff caliber team is mistaken. They missed the playoffs because they should have missed the playoffs.
  23. The Phillies are a superior team to MKE. Wheeler-Nola-Suarez with a bullpen of Dominguez-Hand-Alvarez-Eflin. Schwarber-Segura-Hoskins-Harper-Castellanos-Realmuto. Not particularly close either.
  24. Unfortunately for you I don’t think Stearns is going anywhere. Robert Murray, former Brewers beat Writer said on a recent podcast: ”I would be surprised if Stearns left Milwaukee. From what I’ve gathered, Stearns is very comfortable in Milwaukee, he’s got a good situation there, an owner who supports him. Obviously he grew up in New York, so I’m sure he’d be entertained by it. Things can change of course, but I’d be surprised if Stearns left Milwaukee.” Murray still has good contacts/sources with the team from his days covering the team and has broken numerous transactions the team has had since he left his beat. I believe Stearns really wants to complete his job of bringing this franchise it’s first WS championship, He has a nice core of players, and for the first time since he’s been here, a loaded positional farm of players he’s drafted, ready to help transform his lineup into a fast & explosive unit of plus defenders that can get on base.
  25. Love your passion, and agree with a lot of what you say, but…….. This year we would have 4 rounds to get through to win a title, ‘06–3. Also back in ‘06 there were good teams, but no great teams, definitely no superteams like there are now. Atlanta, LAD, and Houston are all monstrous and far superior to any team back in ‘06 that St Louis played. Back to the September Brewers — Bad bullpen, poor offense, mediocre defense, and what happens when these teams throw a LH starter at us? Glad this season is behind us. Looking forward to what’s ahead.
