  1. Not very likely the Brewers make 3 trades like that in one offseason. Would dig the Bohm deal. If they don't get a 3B via trade, I would try and sign Kim from the Padres to play 3B or SS and at least have the option to have Ortiz stay at 3B. Then I would like to sign a SP maybe to an incentive laden deal. Buehler is unlikely but I wonder what a Bieber off TJ surgery would get? I hope the Brewers inquire anyway but find a way to at least get a depth SP.
  2. Looking at this trade from a while ago, as someone else said it seems like a lottery ticket type deal but Mendez probably being the youngest had the highest upside but it's at a position of depth in the Brewers system. I wasn't a big Moore fan and didn't like the early 2nd round pick on him either. As for Dunn, I don't see what he brings that Devanney didn't, I wish Devanney got his shot in MKE instead of KC.
  3. Maybe one year the Brewers can be the team that gets hot and goes on a run to the WS
  4. I agree here on Devanney. With this FA class I think Candelario could be had but doubt Brewers pay him what he'll command. So I am not sure (unless via trade) a 3B will be had and at least as far as ceiling I see Devanney much higher than Monasterio as arm, defense, pop Devanney is superior and hope he gets a chance to play and Monasterio can be utility guy. Black I like to be 1B/DH guy and then I hope the Brewers sign a Cron or Rhys Hoskins (coming off ACL tear so could be had on prove-it deal) as RHH option there. Can play one of the guys at first and Black DH or vice versa. Really all of the youth either are in the midst of entire swing reconstruction (Wiemer) or limited in power. The FA class needs to bring a power bat to MKE and for what Brewers usually pay Cron or Hoskins would be nice adds. This team needs some power. Black long-term I doubt is a 3B so I see him coming up and play first all spring and if he doesn't show enough progress have him DH unless you think a couple more months in AAA will bring him to being a solid 1B year 1. For C I am not sure, but I really like Quero. Henry or Navaretto can be a placeholder for 2024 I don't really know which one I'd prefer probably Navaretto as he's probably superior defensively.
  5. I thought the Brewers did exactly what they should have at the deadline. I thought this team had too many holes in the lineup to fill with one big move for a "big bat". After last year's sell up 3 games and how the Hader departure affected the team, it was clear the Crew and Arnold wasn't selling in a similar spot. So acquire some solid but unspectacular bats, dip the toes and see what happens. It just so happens Canha has been spectacular, Santana has had some timely hits and HRs and the team has been sparked by solid at bats Contreras huge second half, and some bounce back from players who really couldn't be worse. Hopefully this can continue for a deep playoff run and not a flameout, I actually wanted the Brewers to go after Canha in his FA year when he signed with the Mets previously but I am not paying him 12 mill in his 35 yo season but he is a solid player who gets on base and delivers solid ABs. Similar to Santana who walks a lot, is patient...I think that has helped this offense tremendously having steady presences who have seen a lot and been through these types of games/moments from the outside. Kind of brought a calming presence and when the wins started this team really seemed to be sparked with some youth infusion as well. This team has a great balance of youth/experience and seem to be really clicking (the success obviously helps). Even Donaldson - who looked cooked in NY - has come over and helped out. It's all working - hopefully it equals being the Crew's year - which I thought no way a couple months ago.
  6. As others have said, I think Arnold got it right at the deadline. This team has too many holes in the lineup it made no sense to trade prospects for a big-time (singular) bat at the deadline. There really weren't difference makers available anyway. The 2022 team this type of deadline would have been great too. Get some help to the lineup without giving up any significant future piece. The biggest boost this team could get would be if guys who were expected to produce coming into the year and be heavily leaned on - Tellez (when healthy), Adames and Winker could produce at an average level even.
  7. I think Avina may be that guy as the guy for a rental or Hedbert Perez. Is Devanney even on the Brewers' top 30? He's roadblocked to any PT, yes things can change but Brewers really have never had a 3B since I have been alive. Not sure Devanney can be that but IMO he can come up right now and provide and long-term is a better version of Brian Anderson wih more versatility defensively.
  8. I have a soft spot for guys who have been in the minors a while and Devanney is 26. He was drafted by the Brewers in the 15th round and can play SS/3B or even 1B as a RHH platoon option. Do I think he'd change much for the offense? No. But he probably can't do worse. He hit 23 homers between Biloxi and Nashville last year and has an OPS over .800 again this year. He has good pop and I would rather see a long-time farmhand get a shot at some ABs over Jahmai Jones.
  9. Didn't he just sign a 6-year extension last year? I don't see the Brewers committing to someone long-term and would have to pay extra. I do think COL is a good trade partner and has other rentals who will be FAs after the year who won't cost a high prospect at all unless multiple players involved. Cron at 1b/dh; Grichuk, even Profar for bats and Suter reunion paired with it and still maybe a JGJ and maybe Avino get it done probably.
  10. It is pretty funny the Cardinals were counted out what 35 games in? Now they are 5 games out of the division lol what not even 50 games in lol. I can't stand the Cardinals but in this horrendous NL Central they weren't out of it. Now, the offense is brutal, which has been common lately. This team also needs more from Burnes particularly with the injuries to the rotation. Offensively, this team may need to trade for a OFer like a 1-year guy like Jurickson Profar or Randal Grichuk from COL. Grichuk could help vs. LHP or Profar would have like the third-highest OPS of any Brewer regular. Having very similar season to Brian Anderson/Yelich (.750 OPS) has given which would be a nice addition.
  11. I would much rather have the Brewers sign a Duvall as this team might need some pop or even a Jose Iglesias as a guy who can play SS and play 2B vs LHP for cheap than even pay Escobar 6 mill or whatever the Mets had eaten.
  12. I agree on Cornielle. Another guy in Appleton I think being overlooked is Carlos Rodriguez. He has some pretty good stuff, kind of reminds me a bit of Eldique Hernandez. He has that more slurve and a curve. I think Rodriguez tossed six no-hit innings in one of his last starts. He struck out 129 batters across 107.1 innings between CAR and APP. In 7 starts, 36 innings in Appleton he had a sub-2 ERA and a 3.53 ERA in CAR. He is only 21 years old and I think he is another overlooked SP in the system.
  13. I am still stunned Matt Arnold was allowed to pull off this heist. Kudos to him getting involved in that deal for that kind of steal.
