Not old by any means (25). Draft capital of a former Yankees first round pick. Playing mostly 2B now it appears. But this guy may have figured it out and could show he was worthy of being a first round pick by the evil empire. Switch hitter first and foremost 118 abs 6 hrs 10 stolen bases .946 ops in aaa Again, the draft capital is clear and this guy is very much on the doorstep. Tyler Jay will be the next man up in the bullpen. Then probably Yoho again. I don’t see us wasting service time on Henderson/Miz in a bullpen role.

How about simply subtract DL Hall from the deal?

We control guys for six years. So if we get 4-5 of the best Mitchell has to offer, that is good value for our first round pick. Better than most teams. I don’t necessarily care if he’s not an extension candidate beyond our control years .

Let’s revisit Baty. Hes been bad as has our 3B production too. I see a buy low here if we were so inclined. Acuna is moving ahead of him it seems (and McNeil of course). I don’t know what the Mets think they need but we could offer a mediorcre-good relief arm like Peguero and a guy like Wes Clarke maybe? How about a change of scenery Black for Baty deal when Black gets healthy (I’d rather find a different fit). Crod straight up I think I’d pass on at the current moment but some pair of lesser further away prospects (a pair of 18-40 types a ways away) might appeal to the Mets at this point if they are seeing a Mat Gamel situation unfolding (idk if they are ). Just something that we should maybe check in on. I have no clue of the current cost of Baty on April 12th.

If we get healthy in our rotation, I like the idea of dealing Peralta mid season actually in let’s say a Mayo deal. Hoskins looks bad and Mayo could help as much or more stepping in at 1B if Hoskins struggles remain. Henderson and Miz looks good so far too. I’d be open to risking a slight move backward potentially in the right Peralta deal. Still should be good enough to grab a wildcard id wager.

Possibly true, but there’s a darn good chance they’d win that trade especially if both starters become solid 3-5 starters for them. But keep Mayo in AAA Baltimore and we can revisit a year from now by all means!

Since we don’t know how Baltimore feels about CRod Patrick and Boeve as an offer for Mayo.

You really think Baltimore would expext 2 of the 5 aforementioned pitchers plus Boeve/Wilken for a guy about to spend another year in AAA?

I 1000 percent agree with Big Red. At this point, Mayo is oodles above Wilken prospect ranking wise.

This deal isn’t happening, but if it was Mayo and McDermott for Peralta and their pick of Boeve/Wilken would be close. Maybe we add in Crod or Patrick but hopefully not in this hypothetical not happening deal.

I think if you add a Boeve or Wilken with a Peralta so they get a legit 3B/1b prospect back that might arrive at a better time for Baltimore, Mayo absolutely could be attained in a deal .

How is Ernesto not top 15 or at minimum top 20?

Has anyone got a rudimentary list of some blocked or potentially available 3B prospects as we reach the back half of spring training? Brett Baty still stands out as one guy. Is Mayo looking likely to crack Baltimores lineup? Anyone on the Rangers possibly available? I can see a starting pitching prospect like CRod or Patrick potentially dangled in a deal with Black for the right guy. Mayo would take more and Baty shouldn’t cost more than one of the three plus some additional lesser prospect capital (Maybe two of the three would be needed for Baty though, IDK). Any other name ideas? Otherwise it seems our 3B position is hitting better than any other this spring surprisingly, so maybe we just go with what we have as Pratt/Boeve/Wilken presumably get that much closer to grabbing a starting infield slot for us sometime in the next 1-1.5 years.

Very respectable. But I’d have thought he’d want to play more after OPS’ing over .800 and we could have used him the past few years in some sort of a role. Thanks for the answer to why he never surfaced though. :)

The more I see him performing this spring so far, the more I kinda feel we should just go with Dunn at 3B at least in a platoon if not give him first crack altogether. My reasoning I’ve come up with in my head is multiple: 1) At this point save money and spend when a better opportunity presents itself 2) Cooper Pratt. He looks like a guy that might start the year in AA and end up in AAA and ideally being ready to take a starting infield job a month into next season (for control purposes), If you believe this trajectory is fairly realistic, it would be best to get Dunn and Durbin (to a lesser extent Montasario too) the at bats and PT as we climb closer to World Series candidates over the next few years. 3) Nothing great out there now or even really was out there. This off season I was all for Moncada cheap (we can argue the merits of that idea) but short of that, there was nothing great on the market. Short of trading Devin plus for Bohm, maybe adding Durbin to the mix to supplement Dunn makes the most sense. I think Pratt is the key though. If we feel he is somewhat likely to be ready early 2026, I think the Dunn/Durbin/Mona triumvirate actually makes the most sense to open the season. 4) As an aside, it’s weird that Gyorko OPS’d over .800 for us the COVID year then hasn’t been heard from since. He had a good enough glove at 3B and wasn’t super old. Kinda weird to me. Thoughts?

Payamps has a whip under 1.0 while striking out over a batter an inning in 137 games the past two years and Perkins is a truly elite defensive centerfielder with a decent enough bat. I am not seeing how any knowledgeable person sees either as a DFA candidate.

The gentleman above wants to give less than I do for McMahon. Maybe you should hound him instead?

The guys I mentioned have value. Other posters want McMahon for free simply for taking his contract on. Others want prospects additionally for taking on his contract. Perhaps your vitriol should be directed at these other posters?

Would be nice if we had the depth to deal some somewhat expendable pieces to trade for McMahon because I am of the belief that he has value and won’t be anywhere near free. Pre-injury Perkins, Payamps, and a lotto ticket or something to that effect would have been my preference.
