  1. Love the regular "I hate/don't care about the bucks/NBA" threads. The best thing about them is the same people come back again and again to say how much they don't care anymore. So don't watch/don't go. I agree that the NBA product could/should be improved; but voting with your money is pretty much the only recourse. Personally I haven't gone there yet, the playoffs always reel me back into how good this game can be.
  2. huge thundersnow here in GB
  3. statistically I'd say no; but hopefully our self-scouting and player evaluation is good enough that we will know soon if he has the skill set for it.
  4. 3115 PA's.295.390.685That looks like enough evidence to me to say that he sucks offensively.
  5. A very fair, non-inflammatory headline there by Haudricourt..."Rogers loses to Suppan"? come on.
  6. none of the three can hit; but two of the three can play defense.
  7. No; but he can be a solid defensive right handed time-splitter with counsell...which is more than Betancourt can do.
  8. Wow, replacement level? Sounds like an upgrade from Betancourt, sign me up!
  9. we got stacks of cash
  10. Sounds like it would make for an excellent poll. I'm in 2, get him out of there! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. To set the stage: my wife is a full time teacher and is currently in grad school so I find myself as the main parent of our two year old son and keeper of most/all of the household duties. I'm totally fine with this temporary arrangement (love it in fact); but it does get a little much at times. My wife is also not much of a Brewer fan, so when we have down time together she prefers to watch movies or TV or just spend QT rather than watch baseball. What is not bugging me: I just cleared the evening as mommy/harry time (part of it set aside for THEM to cook for ME for a change!) and she'll do her school work after he goes to bed. Since he naps after lunch on most days, this clears all three brewer games this weekend for nearly uninterrupted viewing by yours truly! I'm currently drinking a beer and listening to some classic vinyl on the turntable. These developments are not bugging me at all!
  12. I am pleased that the major league baseball season falls within one calendar year.
  13. and why is he on the roster instead of Maldonado (or any number of younger/better catchers)?
  14. There appear to be several ongoing illogical choices being made by our new manager and they worry me. what is with the Nieves phenomenon? I have been pleasantly surprised that he looks as good as advertised behind the plate; but his bat and arm (edit: same?) are so much worse than my heartthrob Kottaras that it seems evident he shouldn't be on the roster and should never play. Yet here he is. I'm afraid the Narveson/Nieves theory may be correct and Nieves sticks around for the year. I'd be OK with trading Kottaras for SS depth; but I'd still go with Maldonado over Nieves in that case. He's at least as good a hitter and defender, has a better arm, and is younger and cheaper. So I do not understand Nieves phenomenon at all. Then again its one of 4 current phenomenons and one potential phenomenon that I don't understand: 1) Kotsay on roster (slightly understandable) and playing over Plush while Hart is out (not understandable)2) Nieves on roster and playing--possibly on roster for the long haul3) Gomez hitting second4) Not finding a Betancourt replacement (admittedly, more of a Melvin thing. shockingly, I understand this one most)5) (potential) Gomez ever playing over Plush against righties when Hart gets back None of these make any logical sense to me. They are tolerable as long as we are winning; but it worries me that the person in charge of decisions sees logic in them. Do you?
  15. theoretically he could be texting to someone in his entourage who then tweets it. Some of them do seem pretty authentic.
  16. ha ha, way to turn the small sample size table around JB, that is pure comedy! As has been pointed out, there are much larger sample sizes out there to support the fact that Betancourt and Gomez suck...such as their career numbers. McGehee (and Pujols) on the other hand needs to be given some more time considering his career numbers. Also, I do not feel we need to "get used to" Gomez in CF since we already have his replacement in house.
  17. boy, watching Redd tonight is a nice reminder of why I'll be glad when he's gone. Force up a fading covered jump shot from 13 instead of making an easy quick for a wide open Illaysova 3, standing around the three point line waving for a pass. I've seen few players who seem to be a good guy off the court be such a tool on it.
  18. From what I've seen he is being more selective and not swinging from he heels as much. He still swings hard; but not the kind that makes everyone's hats fly off. He also seems to be going to the opposite field more, especially with two strikes and against lefties.
  19. I was very skeptical of his defensive value coming in (figured he was just being assigned the obligatory "veteran grit" factor) having watched him though, I am impressed by how "nimble" he is back there and he seems very good at blocking pitches in the dirt. That has some value; but not nearly enough to offset his crappy bat vs Kottaras or his arm which doesn't seem that impressive.
  20. Has Maddon gained a lot of weight or have I always just been distracted by his glasses? http://www.chicagotribune.com/media/photo/2011-04/60800972.jpg
  21. yep. Same guys would have been saying the team lacks "killer instinct" if they would have lost a 5 run lead. Maybe we just pay too much attention to what these idiots say.
  22. I actually like that lineup; but I'm sure it would never be done because it would fall into the "mcgehee is an RBI guy" category; which I think is foolish.
  23. Me neither. That's why we should have kept Maldonado (over Nieves until Lucroy is back). Roenicke's affinity for veteran grit is apparent.
