  1. I can separate my distaste for him as a closer from my respect for him basically saying "I suck right now"... To me, that's a tough, classy thing to do...
  2. I surely did as a kid a few times. The most extreme example was being in the Wisconsin Dells as part of a convention for elementary school crossing guards/bus safety patrol (huge dork), and you bunked with all of your classmates, so all of the boys from my class were in my room and all the girls from my class were in the next room. And no, no alcohol or drugs were involved... I forget the hotel, but there was a pool in the central area and the rooms did a horseshoe around them... anyway, I started to "come to" as I was standing near the pool and quickly started knocking on doors to get back into bed. I woke a bunch of people up. Eventually two of my classmates let me in and I passed right out... didn't remember a thing about it when I woke up - I was "the sleepwalking guy" for the rest of the weekend... Doesn't happen to me as an adult now though....
  3. These places are a giant pain in the... "high pressure sales pitch" isn't even accurate - they sit there and badger you until you're ready to burst. Then, when you say no to one package, they start the whole high-pressure sales pitch over again on a lesser package... that cycle goes on and on... you could burn 2-3 hours in there... (Not specifically Sundance Travel - this is in relation to another, similar company) If you can put up with the barrage for 2-3 hours, you'll get your free trip... just keep saying no...
  4. I can build a mean brick patio and retaining wall - spent the majority of my high school, college and some of my post-college life doing just that. One day, about 7 years ago, I was chiseling a block in half using a chisel and a large hammer. I was making good progress and got a little too confident, came down hard with the hammer and instead of hitting the chisel came down on the hard, boney area right below where your thumb and index finger make the V. Hurt - a lot - but I put some ice on it - it stayed swollen for a long time, but I didn't have insurance and needed to keep working, so... Still gives me problem to this day. I feel like I have the hands of a 55-60 year old and I'm only 28. Nice little scar there. Hand is structurally fine, but I can still feel it. GO TO THE DOCTOR! I also feel like the constant vibrations from chiseling with a hammer permanently screwed up my hands. Anything that involves tightly gripping an object for any extended period can lead to painful stiffness and even results in me having to pry my fingers fully open... ...maybe I should go to the doctor...
  5. I stand corrected - I had forgotten that the Brewers battled back in those games... Mr. Gagne, I apologize... Something about 10 mil and five blown saves in the first month of the season blinds me to reason...
  6. That's not the question we should be asking... Offensive struggles aside, The question we should be asking is where would we be without Gagne's five blown saves: first place.
  7. I highly recommend "I Had a Hammer" and "Summer of 49"...
  8. I know there is a certain level of disdain for "emotional" reactions to things here, but this can also be proven by facts: The names Yount and Gantner should never be considered "ex-Brewers" - would you consider Favre an "ex-Packer"? These guys are lifers... I love me some Ray King, and will cheer Mr. Jenkins every time he comes around... Sheffield is a punk...
  9. I realized I had gone over the top with my earlier prediction, so I created the Bill Hill image, which appeased the baseball gods, and now he homers... Yes... the baseball gods...
  10. Bill Hill http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c247/elvermanwrites/BillHillJPEG.jpg Or evil, alternate universe Bill Hall
  11. Bill Hall Today: 5 HR, 13 RBI, 2 BB and he makes the Mets fanbase humble with two unassisted triple plays...
  12. No, it's not OK - maybe he gives a shaky performance, but I'd much rather have 7-1 than 6-2...
  13. HAHA that is officaly my new sig You are welcome to it...
  14. Team MVP through seven games: Jason Kendall And for the love of God, will someone feed Prince a cheeseburger already...
  15. Hey: Sounds on par with and better than most studio releases these days... for my personal tastes, I'd like some of these songs to kick into a higher gear. But this is good and will serve well on mellow days. You should be very proud - and don't get so big that you won't let me put one of your songs in one of movies some day... I'll have more time to give it a more worthy listen in the next few days - will report back then... Bill
  16. Seven Mary Three: Break the Spell It's not even close - it doubles up the competition... but those stats are only as of February 1 as I've had to reload my ITUNES.
  17. This doesn't seem to add up... would one suspect that maybe something else bigger is in the works?
  18. I purposely don't look at pictures of Molitor in other uniforms. It still hurts - 14-15 years later... Thank god Yount never moved...
  19. Not to stray from the Brewers theme here, but Wisconsin is kind of a mythical place to people who live on the coasts... Living in L.A. for three years now (ugh...) is interesting because Wisconsin is viewed as this place deep in the woods and disconnected from the rest of society where people freely drink, eat sausages and cheese... You can really make up any Paul Bunyan-esque legends about Wisconsin and most people out here will believe it. My favorite experience may have been on Spring Break back in 99 (ugh I'm getting old) - we went to Daytona and there was this group of New York guys who were kind of showing off and running the joint - but as soon as they knew we were from Wisconsin, they immediately admitted to not being able to hold their liquor and that we could drink anyone in the town under the table - without any grandstanding by us... Then my uncle, Robin Yount, joined us... (Actually, my dad used to tell people Ed Gein was his uncle... that was always uncomfortable for people...)
  20. One only hopes that Kaz and Felix Pie didn't suffer these maladies in the same off field incident...
  21. Not always so.... "It doesn't matter where you get your appetite, as long as you go home for dinner" NOT "It doesn't matter where you get your appetite, as long as your appetite gets you" See, totally different meaning http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  22. I go with Braun. Favre's career overlapped with Yount's by just a little, now Braun and Favre overlap a bit. I see us losing Fielder in the next couple of years. Braun has the skills to be a huge player for the next 10 years or so and I think his complete skill set is who you build this team around for the long term.... Or he could pull a Pat Listach http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  23. Prince James: I can't tell you how happy it makes me to see that a poorly created Microsoft Paint Bill Hall homage I made almost two years ago is your avatar. Well done sir... I went and revisited that old Bill Hall thread... classic... I'm mostly a lurker here, I think that's where about half of my posts came from... (Re: topic - it doesn't matter - we'll either a) groom someone from within the ranks who will be stellar at first, make the all star team and then fade away... or b) Melvin will just make a trade with Texas, or sign someone who was once undervalued in Texas... this is how these things go...
  24. Oddly enough, I had a conversation today with someone about this film - highly underrated. This and Man in the Iron Mask really made me huge fans of Gabriel Byrne... a highly underrated actor...
  25. Seven Mary Three - new album is fantastic... Jason Ross is one of the best vocalists and underrated songwriters of the last 15 years - they were improperly labeled as a "Pearl Jam" rip-off and have suffered for it since... Go download "Break the Spell"
