  1. Yeah, the Broncos game in ~15 or so. A couple Bills games, the Panthers game. The Chargers game a couple years ago. They absolutely did. The OL needs to be fixed and that should be the main priority this off-season, but I'm good with where they are as well. It's only possible they win 9-10 games because it's a very weak schedule, but I'd say they're roughly where Rodgers and GB was in 2008.
  2. I didn't think. I'll wait and see the grades, but I'd guess he grades out average, Tom a bit above and then Newman in the ~-2 to -4 range, Myers even worse and JRJ -2 as well. I thought Walker held up well vs his man and got beat inside a few times, but gave Love a chance for the most part.
  3. No. He had awful technique at Va Tech, he's high waisted, he's not a particularly good run blocker or powerful, he wins with athleticism. Asking him to kick inside feels...like a very bad idea. I'd try Rhyan and hope Jenkins comes back soon. But I'd be shocked if Nijman can play OG. Tom could, but again, you're taking your best OT and OL and moving him inside.
  4. Sure, but Love is getting beat up in the pocket and when he's throwing that ball, Doubs is running a route where he should be there. He's late and the safety was not as far back as I thought, but...it's pretty hard to find a lot of fault with Love. He did throw it to where Doubs was running on the dig. He threw it late and it would have been contested, but people calling it a Favre like throw...not really fair. Doubs turning up field as the ball comes out changes the look of the entire play.
  5. The thing is where are you playing him? The ONLY thing you had going for you was you had OTs who were holding up. Walker and Tom played...pretty well. You'd have to move Walker to Guard(which I think should be done, but not on the fly) and Tom HAS to stay on the outside. He's too athletic and not strong enough. Nijman is CLEARLY one of the top 5, but it's a weird situation. He's not a OG.
  6. I give MLF a pass for tonight since Jones was beat up, but Wilson should pass him as the 2nd ball carrier. The only thing Dillon really does well...is help in pass pro.
  7. Yup. Give me Joe Alt(or Mims from UGA who I think will blow up). Hell, give me UGA's LT, C and their MLBer who replaced Quay in Smael Mondon and looks like a more instinctive version. And then keep adding to the DL. Keep growing from the trenches. We have the weapons on the outside. We have the QB. We have EVERYTHING you need on D but a good DC. I think Valentine is a starting caliber CB. Stokes is coming back. But go back to work on that OL, building one that can dominate like the top 4 teams in the NFC can right now, Philly, Det, SF and...when healthy, Dallas.
  8. No chance.
  9. After watching it again, it was late and Love would have needed Doubs to work back to him there. So 60/40 Love/Doubs, but asking him to hold it so Love can get open up field is asking a WHOLE lot while the pocket is collapsing.
  10. I'll have to go look at it again, but it looked like if Doubs continues his route, it's going to hit him in stride and not go sailing past to the Safety 7 yards deeper.
  11. Sure...that's all true. And in Walker's mind, if he blocks it flush(not just tips it) but blocks it, now it's a play with a bunch of OL vs Walker and a bunch of CBs. I doubt he'll do it again, I'm just not putting too much on him for trying to make a play like that.
  12. No, Doubs just STOPS running the route for whatever reason. He was coming open and he turns upfield as Love is letting it go. Just some of the give and take with young skill players/QB.
  13. Jaire can play slot, Douglas can play slot. There's nothing special about slot anymore. Especially with bigger WRers playing the slot now. And there's an idea that the slot is in the run game more and they're really not. It's a small difference in how much they're taking on hits with the bubble screens and all that. They played with all three just fine Stokes rookie year. That's when they were at their best.
  14. I am not befuddled. I am Joe Barry-ed. They are NEVER doing anything to create confusion and it's all about your man beating the man in front of you. He gives his players NO advantages whereas...EVERY good DC does. No free runners, no different looks in coverage. MAYBE he'll run a stunt and that's it. I wish to hell I could find the video of Jim Leonhard's blitz packages. I watched it 3-4 times and it's NOT gimmicky College stuff, it's the type of stuff that works at any level.
  15. Holy Crap...yeah, that's WILD. Quay Walker has been by FAR the best defensive player all game. No, I will NOT be happy when a 6'4 dude with elite speed and a non-stop motor is gone. I really hope that was a reactionary comment and we can be a little more level headed(and not push a trainer).
  16. I don't really care about that. Quay Walker is trying to make a game changing play...trying to get up and block it. I'll take a play of aggression 100 times over pushing a trainer or something stupid. I'm...not happy, but I feel like the 2nd half, Love and the team showed a lot. I mean, it's a stupid play, that's obvious, but...I just can't get too mad at Quay for THAT particular play.
  17. Who was the right Rodgers?
  18. No, but he's a different type of CB. He's more suited to zone and if you have Stokes and Jaire, then he can play vs the bigger slot or better TEs(like LaPorta...who he had nearly perfect coverage on for that long pass). But specifically with Stokes and Jaire's strengths, to play so much zone early last year was baffling. And we were talking more about Stokes. But sure, Douglas has become pretty well rounded. Also, "starting" CB is a...vague term. You are starting 3 pretty much. So Stokes, Douglas and Jaire are all starters IMO.
  19. Same. I think we're one more really good draft away and another year for Love. But Love's upside is enough that you work on that OL and keep developing the young players, I think we'll be fine. Love has shown how good he can be. They made the right call...I say with about ~80% confidence.
  20. That was the whole issue with Barry. They played soft zone with Jaire and Stokes. But Stokes DID struggle year 2.
  21. Eh, Love still have to make the throw. BTW, Quay Walker is having a helluva game irrespective of how anyone else is playing. Losing Jaire hurts, but...Quay is playing VERY well in space.
  22. That's what I'm seeing. I already knew we'd struggle, I just wanted to see how Love rebounded from it. The next step for Love is to find a way to start games better. He doesn't get going until the 2nd half. The lows will always be there with a 1st year starter, but the highs show you what he CAN be.
  23. They keep an exact clock on the field, so it can show 0:00 and still have .5 left on it. I didn't watch that close to see if it was obvious or not.
  24. Lets not forget what an impressive rookie year he had. He was ranked 1st(I believe) among ALL NFL CBs in press man coverage. He's been out with injuries and he's working his way back, but...he SHOULD be a starter when healthy.
  25. I don't think you can call a good game when your OL is getting tossed around like this. Getting the ball to your skill players in space, maybe that's a double pass...IDK, but if you don't execute, it doesn't matter. The 4th down play last week where they throw it back to Love was WIDE open...but they dropped it, then Love slipped. Det is just physically abusing us up front. They got Sewell, Decker, Ragnow and then two good run blocking Guards. We're just outmanned.
