  1. No, but he's a different type of CB. He's more suited to zone and if you have Stokes and Jaire, then he can play vs the bigger slot or better TEs(like LaPorta...who he had nearly perfect coverage on for that long pass). But specifically with Stokes and Jaire's strengths, to play so much zone early last year was baffling. And we were talking more about Stokes. But sure, Douglas has become pretty well rounded. Also, "starting" CB is a...vague term. You are starting 3 pretty much. So Stokes, Douglas and Jaire are all starters IMO.
  2. Same. I think we're one more really good draft away and another year for Love. But Love's upside is enough that you work on that OL and keep developing the young players, I think we'll be fine. Love has shown how good he can be. They made the right call...I say with about ~80% confidence.
  3. That was the whole issue with Barry. They played soft zone with Jaire and Stokes. But Stokes DID struggle year 2.
  4. Eh, Love still have to make the throw. BTW, Quay Walker is having a helluva game irrespective of how anyone else is playing. Losing Jaire hurts, but...Quay is playing VERY well in space.
  5. That's what I'm seeing. I already knew we'd struggle, I just wanted to see how Love rebounded from it. The next step for Love is to find a way to start games better. He doesn't get going until the 2nd half. The lows will always be there with a 1st year starter, but the highs show you what he CAN be.
  6. They keep an exact clock on the field, so it can show 0:00 and still have .5 left on it. I didn't watch that close to see if it was obvious or not.
  7. Lets not forget what an impressive rookie year he had. He was ranked 1st(I believe) among ALL NFL CBs in press man coverage. He's been out with injuries and he's working his way back, but...he SHOULD be a starter when healthy.
  8. I don't think you can call a good game when your OL is getting tossed around like this. Getting the ball to your skill players in space, maybe that's a double pass...IDK, but if you don't execute, it doesn't matter. The 4th down play last week where they throw it back to Love was WIDE open...but they dropped it, then Love slipped. Det is just physically abusing us up front. They got Sewell, Decker, Ragnow and then two good run blocking Guards. We're just outmanned.
  9. I just wanted to see growth from Love and these young guys. They're doing better, Love needs games like this...as much as it sucks. Also, Josh Myers, Royce Newman, JRJ...they're just not good enough. I want to see Walker at Guard and I'd like to see them draft an OT in the 1st Rd, and then a guy like Van Pran in the 2nd Rd. Philly, SF, KC...you need dominant OLs.
  10. Yup. That's not good. However...on the Packers side, it IS good to see the Packers at least show some fight. To see Love come back out and keep firing. I don't anticipate a full comeback here, but...it's something. Ooh...and I see Branch is coming back out here. So that's good for the Lions.
  11. I'd be surprised if they didn't go with at least 12 pitchers. The way Counsell loves matchup's...I don't think I see the need for 15 position players and just 11 pitchers. Is this going off the metrics? I know the eye test doesn't always match the metrics, but it seems to me like Frelick and Wiemer have been a bit better in CF thus far. Mitchell is outstanding, not arguing that. Also has a big time arm. But Frelick is just so good going back on the ball and seldom takes a false step, and Wiemer it seemed like also takes better routes to the ball. I think I'd probably go with Frelick, Wiemer, Mitchell left to right and only Frelick in LF because I think he'd be able to adjust so much easier to playing a position he hasn't played this year. Otherwise, I agree, great write up.
  12. I guess it's hard to be surprised about anything with him at this point. I am just confused. There's a quote in the NFL.com site that the "time line for a return for this injury." What the hell does that even mean at this point? I'm convinced he suffered some type of injury week 1 aside from the obvious torn ACL from the . You're usually not going to have a degenerative injury like this unless you just don't have any cartilage left and they've repeatedly said his knee was healed, it was scar tissue, etc...etc.. Whatever it is...it sucks. Signed a 4 year deal worth up to 105.5M with incentives on Nov 15th. Tore his ACL Dec 31st. 6 weeks we got a healthy Bakhtiari. I'll still take what we can get for him this year, but...why the hell would the Packers not consider trading him this off-season when the Jets spoke with him if MLF knew all along it'd be a "week to week type of thing?" That's why I'm thinking there's some type of newer injury. I guess that's why as a Player, you take what you can get, whenever you can get it. Eh, whatever. Walker looks good, Tom is gonna play. Just have to get the ball out quickly.
  13. O's fans have a legitimate complaint. Their owner owns over 70% of the team. Peter Angelos was worth 3B+ Attanasio owns 30-some percent and is the principal owner, NOT the majority owner and yet they've still remained competitive in a much smaller market. I think it's just a fundamental lack of understanding. Attanasio didn't even know about the Hader trade until it was all but done and Stearns had to call for approval. He's not out there demanding they slash payroll. He gives them a number obviously, but unless you just think everyone is lying, he's NEVER vetoed a trade over salary, never told the FO to get rid of a player over salary. Even just an NBA type revenue sharing would benefit the Brewers significantly(forget about an NFL type system where they'd on equal footing). In MLB, the difference in revenue isn't 30-50 million, it's HUNDREDS of millions. How in the hell are we expecting a guy who owns I believe it's 38% of the Brewers to match the spending of the Dodgers, Yankees, Mets when he HIMSELF is worth "just" ~680M? It's just...ridiculous. I hope Dee and Jimmy Haslem decide they want to get into Baseball. Or Paul Menard or Kohler or someone else and they want to buy a part of the Brewers and push the payroll into the Braves category(which BTW, they are probably pocketing a lot more revenue at the end of the year than the Brewers). But this shows how spoiled we've gotten. Yes, we did not deserve Wendy Selig-Prieb and Sal Bando, but Mark Attanasio has done an outstanding job. And frankly...the best change he's made? Staying the hell OUT of the day to day operations as he's the one who's famously pushed for Suppan, Lohse and Garza, the worst signings the Brewers have made. Stearns made him understand you can't be competitive in the market by going out and spending a significant chunk of your payroll on #3-4 pitchers(who actually ended up being worse than that). He's allowed the Baseball guys to run it. He stepped back because he had the self awareness to recognize...he's just a fan. And I suspect most of us would make dumb decisions, as confident and as smart as we are or think we are, or how closely we follow the farm system. Who exactly hired David Stearns? Who kept him from the Mets? Arnold, Todd Johnson, Charlie Greene who's turned guys like William Contreras from guys who can catch occasionally, but are more DH type players into now a top 5 catcher? The top 3 Farm System they have. It's HIS job to hire the top executives, something he's got an outstanding reputation for(there's a reason Steve Cohen and his 20B dollar bank account had been trying to poach Stearns and is paying him 15M a year). What you're saying just fundamentally doesn't make sense. The Buck stops with...Attanasio when they lose, but when they succeed, you're "stealing credit?" ********. He deserves credit for making the right hires. Anyone who's run a business knows you can do but so much and you NEED good people working for you.
  14. I'd have liked to have kept him on the roster just in case heading into the post-season.
  15. They talked about how hard they tried to make this trade work without Jrue, but...they just couldn't find a way to make it work. And it definitely sucks, but when you're pretty firm in saying you're not going to play past your current contract...well, it's a brutal business and the value Giannis has to this franchise is MASSIVE. Keeping him happy and improving our odds at winning another title, it just trumps Holiday's desires. And hey, maybe Jrue changes his mind and in another year or 2 when his deal is up, maybe he finds his way back as a part time player? Doubt it, but that's all I've got. I loved Jrue, I thought he got too much heat, he was never meant to be a true #2 scoring threat, but Middleton got hurt and then Giannis got hurt in that series... Now you have a guy who can absolutely dominate a game other than Middleton. Lillard just creates SO much space being able to hit shots from 34 feet away, it's something Giannis has never played with.
  16. Yeah, I agree he's just not your starting LT at this point. The thing is, they specifically said his knee was structurally sound. It wasn't bone on bone, the ACL surgery took, they addressed the meniscus, they cleaned out the scar tissue(that's just a pain tolerance issue). I wouldn't put him on IR. He's clearly CLOSE enough to being able to play each week or they'd just have him on IR and somehow with this injury, when he does play, he's still elite. And I'm hoping at this point that the plan is for him to play the 2nd half of the year more, and they're resting him so he's available more later, but I know that's a reach. But I'd just take him when he can play, be happy he can and then that's all you really can do this year. The thing is, there WAS trade interest in him. The Jets had interest, the Packers completely shut it down. Why would they do that if they knew exactly what his knee looked like? It just makes me a little confused. A 4th rd pick would have been huge-IF they knew how little he'd play. --He signed a 4/92M dollar deal though, not over 100M(not a big distinction) but he also HASN'T been willing to restructure. The Packers have restructured. An NFL player has to agree to add void years for example or restructure and change their pay. The only thing they've done with Bakh is take his base salary and his roster bonus and turn that into a signing bonus and spread it out. So last year it was 9.5 for the roster and I think 6.7M for the Base and they just handed him a check for that money and called it a signing bonus. So it's actually frustrating that he HASN'T been willing to restructure or do anything. Just the literal bare minimum that the Packers can do without his approval. But bottom line, that injury may very well have cost the Packers a SB. I believe if you have Bakh, you win that TB game OR the SF game. Especially pre-injury Bakh. And at that point, who knows how things work out. But moving forward, the #1 priority has to be addressing the OL. It's still in reasonably good shape without Bakh(when you have Jenkins and Tom) but you need to stay ahead of that. We're lucky we've got Walker, Nijman, maybe Caleb Jones. Haven't seen him live. But this 2024 draft needs to really be centered around adding an impact OT, a Center if there's one available(the guy from UGA, Sedrick Van Pran is the ideal 2nd rd pick) and I'd even take a Guard with the other 2nd Rd pick or trade up. Say we're picking 20th. Trade up to 12-15 and take Joe Alt(ND LT, absolutely dominated OSUs highly rated edge rushers making them look like kids) or the big 5 star recruit in Mims from UGA. JC Latham, Sumataria from BYU was a 5 star who went to Oregon but wanted to be closer to home so transferred back to BYU, Fashanu from PSU seems like a top 5 pick, but...whatever, there are a LOT of really good OTs, be aggressive with so many fewer needs than you had the last couple years and go up and get the next 10-12 year starter. I also think Walker could be a really good OG. You need to replace JRJ and Bakh next year, I think you should try and replace Myers. Trading for need is generally not a good idea, but when you have so few holes because you've had SO many draft picks the last couple years(and seemingly hit on so many), it just makes sense to me to go out and now use your draft capital to trade up and target the most important positions with a young QB. After LT/C and a DL(if there's one who's still there+worthy like Kris Jenkins, Cullen Jenkins Newphew) then I'd go S/RB/LB. There's a LBer from Georgia who's 6'4 220, Smael Mondon, who took over for Walker who is so athletic and smooth(but undersized yet)...it'd be amazing to think about pairing them up. But now I'm making this a whole draft post. Yeah, bullet points. -Bakh not starting Center -Obviously not going to be back in '24 -Injury to the games best pass blocking LT significantly impacted 2-3 playoff runs possibly costing them a SB and maybe 2 other playoff runs.
  17. I'm actually thinking about it and, yeah, I'd definitely do it. You'd have a guy who probably has one more MVP caliber season in him, who I believe will still have a run of seasons in which he plays 140 games and puts up big numbers. BUT, you also get the 500 HR watch, the...whatever else he may do(3000 hits is still possible, but would take a resurgence...and likely not doable in the 7 existing years). What are the chances the Brewers have been setting aside a significant amount of revenue for stadium infrastructure? This deal, should it go through, sounds like it's kinda blowing away what the Brewers had expected. So if that 30M they'd been setting aside is now available for payroll, that totally changes the equation. My guess is that story is nonsense as it's a bit illogical. The Brewers ownership was probably never paying for it's own stadium and thus never setting that much aside each year. And you're right, both Yelich and Trout would need to completely agree to a trade...
  18. Seems to me like Tank Dell is much more hit or miss and with him hitting a few times early, teams will start to double him more. I was hoping we'd grab Johnson in the draft this year in Rd 3/4 as I thought he was a really good back and he's been even better in what I've seen. I think he's becoming a larger part of that offense and I think especially this week, Chicago is going to give him the ball a lot early. Just...my 2 cents, I normally don't jump in on Fantasy, but I'm pretty bullish on Johnson.
  19. Yeah, hopefully Crowder just struggled because he sat out most of last year and just never got into a rhythm. Jackson, the kid from UConn, wouldn't shock me if he started. Wallus said he wanted a guy who played defense and didn't really look for their shot. This kid is already an NBA caliber defender and an elite passer. The ideal type of facilitator. Marjon has matured. I'm a big fan of him...in that sort of role. That's not to say either of these guys are really starting caliber SGs, but with this lineup, they COULD be the best fits if they are further along than anticipated. This $### is WILD. You don't hear about the Bucks trading for a HOFer, a top 75 player all time coming off a 32PPG season. And his preference was Miami, but he said he'd also accept Brooklyn(I don't know why) or Milwaukee. Really hope this is as good of a fit as it seems and Giannis signs on for another 5 years(with the obligatory PO).
  20. He'd just sign as a vet minimum. The difference at MOST would be do you want to keep a full bench or do you want to go with 13 man roster for long stretches to keep your luxury tax payments down...and the Bucks are clearly not worried about the luxury tax with Dame Lillard and Giannis. Just...another shot out for the Ownership Group. The decision to not sign Malcom Brogdon and then the comments after they let PJ Tucker go...a move I didn't take issue with as a roster building decision, but then the comments about the luxury tax and you kinda wondered if they'd REALLY make the moves to try and keep giving this team the best chance. Well...they were going to have a LOT of cap space in 2 years and they just committed 63M dollars to what will be a 35-36 year old PG. I think the Haslem family has certainly held up their end with the Edens and Dinan. I do hope Jrue ends up in the West though. I've heard Boston is interested. I don't see how that'd work without a 3rd team to take the cap hit, but...this is THEE most exciting move I've ever seen a Wisconsin team make. CC Sabathia was great, but it was for 3 months. This is for 3 years and makes Giannis re-signing a MUCH more likely scenario.
  21. Bakh ruled out again. What is going on? He HAD to have re-injured that knee in week 1. How do you go from playing every play and looking spry, jumping over piles...to out the next 3 weeks? Jenkins predictably out. I don't know if that's been officially diagnosed, but it seems like an MCL and 2-4 weeks seems the most likely given not putting him on IR. Campbell is also out. That hurts, but not nearly as much at this point.
  22. This like this don't happen to Wisconsin teams! We get lucky and draft well at times or develop, but adding MEGA stars who just happen to be perfect fits with our top 20 all time PF(who's just 28). Jackson could definitely start in this lineup now. Or at least play with the starters. His feel for the game and his defense.
  23. I forgot about Cam Payne. That'd be a GREAT signing. A veteran PG who's got some experience. Dame will probably play ~60 games. Cam has proven to be a good backup.
  24. That works, Pat at the 2, Beauchamp earning the job would be a best case scenario. Beasily is just 26 and has had some productive years, so he would be the obvious choice. This is just one of those moves where I'm still in shock. I NEVER would have guessed this. I saw people on Twitter putting Dame in a Bucks jersey, but it seemed so unlikely. Horst...you might have given Portland 3 top 5 picks in 5,6 and 7 years...but I don't care! This is so wild!
  25. Yeah...they've got some guys. Hopefully a couple can kinda step up. Hate seeing Jrue leave like this. He was such a vital part of that team winning. His defense turned the Finals around by picking up CP3 full court. But one of the greatest 3 point shooters EVER and Middleton was looking all the way back at the end of last year. That's just nit picking. If they're healthy, they're going to be a TOUGH out and this is extremely exciting for the city!
