  1. Honestly, until people were talking about his yesterday, I thought he was hurt.
  2. Yeah, it was. A lot of people didn't realize Morgan was so good defensively, or that last year was his only really bad season as a hitter.
  3. razzzorsharp, yeah, some people still buy into "playoff experience" and past championships meaning anything in sports. I think it's one of those silly sports talk euphemisms that will never go away.
  4. We are going two of the Brewers/Cards games next week at Busch, so this is a little unnerving for me.
  5. Yeah, Matzek did a great job in that interview. It's time for more of the national media to hold La Russa accountable for his hypocritical crap.
  6. I really don't want to see any "retaliation" today. Winning is the best revenge. Should have won last night, we really need to win today if we're going to send any sort of message to the Cardinals and their hypocritical fans.
  7. 12/yes/playground.
  8. Nice thought. He is probably going to have to be forced into retirement, but Melvin and Roenicke like him to much to have that talk.
  9. I agree. We need him as healthy as possible for October. Don't rush him back. We should be fine with Lopez and Hairston until then.
  10. Yeah, and it's not like Furcal is some obscure bench player. He's a multi-time All-Star player. Of course they're going to cheer him!
  11. Wow, talk about delusion. Edit: Here's another fun quote from that same board: "I don't believe the Brew Crew has the leadership to handle a central division race against the Cardinals. I also don't believe that Braun is a leader at all. I think he is more worried about his stats than he is winning a game. That isn't the Cardinal way of doing business. Also I believe PRince is more concerned about his contract for next season than he is beating the Cardinals. Whereas, Albert is solely concerned with winning the Central." Here that guys? Prince is more concerned about his contract, but Albert is solely concerned with winning. I guess we should be worried about this series now!
  12. Well, now that he would have to go through waivers, I would think the chances of him reaching the Brewers in a claim would be fairly low. I do like the idea, though.
  13. The thing with Counsell is that while his defense is still quite good, an all glove & no bat utility infielder has essentially no value to this team at this point. Especially when you have Wilson and Hairston on the the team now. He should basically be the last option off the bench at this point, which means he should be DFAed or talked into early retirement. If he sets the club O-for AB record, it's just going to be sad and pathetic that he's still on the roster of a 1st place team.
  14. I hope you are right, joepepsi. I would rather the Brewers avoid barely making the playoffs like in '08. I would love to see them coast into the division title with season to spare, so they can rest certain members of their rotation if need be. Going into the divsion series with a well rested pitching staff would be huge boon, I think.
  15. McCann is hurt right now and it's uncertain when he'll be back right now. Too bad, as he was having a great season. While McCutchen is having a very nice season, he doesn't really stand ahead in any of the major counting categories that the writers tend to like. Reyes probably deserves to win it right now, but I think it will end up going to Braun, assuming the Brewers win the division.
  16. Cards (3) 2-1 - @Astros (3) 3-0 - @Cards (3) 2-1 Pirates (3) 2-1 Dodgers (4) 2-2 @Mets (3) 2-1 @Pirates (4) 2-2 - Cubs (3) 2-1 - Cards (2) 1-1 18-10
  17. I just don't agree with this. I think you're really over valuing Jackson, who was clearly more meaningful to the Cards than he would have been to the Brewers I agree it would be disappointing if Green goes to the Mets, but all indications have been that he probably won't be.
  18. I guess I don't get the fasciniation with Ian Stewart. His numbers are way worse than McGehee's this season.
  19. This is a good point. Aside from waiting to see what we send to the Mets for K-Rod, Melvin gave up very little to improve this team's bullpen and infield depth. I'm pretty satisfied right now.
  20. Wasn't it said earlier this year that the Brewers really love Logan Schafer? If so, don't see him being traded in K-Rod deal.
  21. I'm actually not that bothered by Kotsay starting since Morgan may have simply needed a rest day, but there's no reason not to start Lopez or Hairston instead of Counsell at this point.
  22. A nice thought, but I'm not keeping my fingers crossed at this point.
  23. I'd love to have a Giambi or Thome type player on the bench right now. It would be great to have a power bat to turn to in close games who is almost guaranteed to work a good AB every time and provide the threat of a home run. Counsell is so obvious as a replacement candidate with the additions of Lopez and Hairston, but I think Melvin is too enamored with him to ever DFA him or talk him into early retirement.
  24. The food is mediocre for what you pay, but not terrible. More of a convenience thing for us sometimes more than anything.
  25. Clint Barmes is in the Astros' lineup, which means he almost certainly won't be dealt today.
