There's two sides to every story. Corey Hart has participated in many charity events/appearances, so I have a hard time believing he simply blew this one off.
If he had come up through the Brewers' system, he would have a huge following. The fact that he was a waiver acquisition and not a heralded prospect diminishes his perceived upside for many around here. Really, as a complete player (obviously Braun was awesome offensively, but terrible manning the hot corner), McGehee is a much better 3B than we've had in years.
Another appropriate Onion article. "Every time I walk out to the mound I just assure the guys that at least we will all be dead eventually," Quade continued.
Very good point. I agree that a Saito DL stint at some point this year was probably inevitable, given his history. Hopefully he gets this one out of the way and is good for the rest of the season.
Yeah, I noticed that too. I guess Roenicke wasn't impressed enough by Morgan's triple and stellar defense yesterday. Let's see if Kotsay can get his season OPS over .500. *sigh*
We had the same problem on Thursday after the game. I think going eastbound onto I-94 and then somehow turning around would have been easier than heading up to Bluemound. The traffic was horrific up there and you could tell a lot of the drivers diddn't really know where they were going.
The only way I could see any team trading a halfway decent shortstop (ie. better than Betancourt) for Gomez is if they have someone with "attitude issues" (like a Nyjer Morgan situation). I don't see any team that is a fit right now, but maybe as the season wears along, who knows?
So, what about all the guys who did amphetamines in the 60's - 80's? They were illegal and performance enhancing and weren't against the rules of baseball. Where do you stand on them? It wasn't steroids that made guys hit 70 home runs, it was a change in the baseball, and the dilution of talent across the league. What steroids did was allow guys to play longer, and stay healthier in many cases. I'm pretty sure amphetamines weren't illegal in the US until the late '70s or early '80s. Not sure when MLB officially banned them.
I think some are seriously underselling what a talent Ramirez has been. Baseball-reference.com's similar batters for Manny Ramirez: 1. Frank Thomas (864) 2. Jimmie Foxx (860) * 3. Ted Williams (832) * 4. Jim Thome (819) 5. Ken Griffey (815) 6. Gary Sheffield (813) 7. Mickey Mantle (812) * 8. Frank Robinson (806) * 9. Chipper Jones (802) 10. Reggie Jackson (792) * I'd say that's a pretty good list. He should go into the Hall of Fame if you base it solely on career stats, but won't do to the pall of PEDs cast over his career.
Kotsay is really continuing to prove himself more and more useless. Gomez is probably the last guy I would want to see up in the 9th inning with two outs, though. Just kind of a pathetic end to a winnable game.
Question about "The Show": How do I set a song not originally in the game as my RTTS player's entrance music? I have some songs I uploaded to my PS3 in the game's "Jukebox". They play during the game, but I can't figure out how to select one of these tracks as my players music. Anyone know how I do this?
Being reported by Jerry Crasnick on Twitter just now. More info coming. This tweet has more info: Ramirez was notified of issue under the MLB's Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. Rather than continue with the process, Manny retired.
Yeah, I'm really not getting the continued fascination with Gomez in the 2 spot. It's clear he can't get on base consistently enough to warrant batting so high.
"I told (Milwaukee), basically, I'd pitch if they need me to," said Gamel, who has played primarily third base. "I don't care. I just want to be there." This is positive, and different from what's been hinted at in the past. Good to hear, at least.
