  1. Windows 10 has a "critical process died" error that has become the bane of my existence. I've tried everything I can think of short of reinstalling Windows 10, and nothing seems to help. Drivers are up to date, I've run check disk, scan disk, etc. and nothing seems to help. PC crashes when left on its own for any length of time, but doesn't crash in safe mode. Really scratching my head on this one.
  2. Fixed. To be fair, you could say almost the exact (minus the "big market") same thing about the Brewers. Getting back to the trade at hand, I think some had their expectations too high for what Lind would bring. We weren't going to get a super prospect for an aging 1B with one year left on his contract.
  3. Names are Daniel Misssaki, Carlos Herrera, and Freddy Peralta. All RHPs.
  4. My favorites are probably Home Alone (mainly because I saw it in the theaters at least three times when it first came out), Elf, and A Christmas Story.
  5. Their top prospect was off the table, so it makes sense that the Brewers would be reaching a bit deeper into their system. Will be interesting to see exactly who comes back.
  6. That boat sailed last April when we sank like the titanic. That idea was only floated if we managed to compete this year and had a decent outlook for next year. Once that was gone signing Zimmerman was on no ones mind. Yes, I agree. I haven't really heard any talk of "The Brewers should sign Zimmermann", in quite a long time. Do "hometown discounts" ever really happen in baseball anymore? I can't think of any examples in recent history. Maybe Prince Fielder signing with Detroit.
  7. I'm glad he's out of the NL Central. I'm more glad that we can stop pretending the Brewers will ever sign a free agent pitcher to a big contract. I think most of us already knew that, though.
  8. It seems like it's a league-wide problem and not just isolated to the Brewers. re: Sardinas, I agree that it seems like some on this site are overvaluing him. Then again, most fans overvalue their team's prospects somewhat.
  9. That stinks, but at least look at the bright side...you now have some very relevant and recent experience that will make you more marketable to other employers.
  10. Sounds like Flores is a solid bat. Mentioned on Twitter he hit 350 in AAA last year. Edit: I thjnk that's high, but my smartphone is being screwy right now.
  11. Very interesting. No return announced yet. Makes yesterday's moves make more sense.
  12. 3TO now means "innocent, guilty, or no contest"?
  13. I hope this Betancourt isn't as frustrating as our last one was. In all seriousness, it seems like a pretty good return to me for a closer who didn't seem to garner much interest, and we don't really need next season.
  14. Agreed. There's a thread over at BF.net Political Scene discussing this: http://brewerfanpoliticalscene.yuku.com/topic/1174/Public-education-discourse-in-Wisconsin
  15. The military uses sporting events to market and recruit. I'm not sure why anyone is really shocked by any of this.
  16. He sounds decent, and probably a good "poach" from a rival club. That said, it seems like we always get excited whenever the Brewers bring in a new pitching coach, and then things don't really work out. Let's hope it's different this time.
  17. Agreed. Plus there's the fact that we needed a real first baseman, and Adam Lind wasn't exactly a slouch this year.
  18. Seems like a great fit and a great move. I am glad that Mark Attanasio seems to have accepted where the franchise needs to head, and how they need to get there.
  19. The computer won't boot from the hard drive now. I did download a program called HD Sentinel (on Toshiba's recommendation) right before the drive completely failed, and the program said the hard drive was indeed failing.
  20. Thanks. I did like Windows 10, but it sure seems like it did not work well for me after upgrading. The desktop is running fine on Windows 7 (after I rolled it back), but that's less important to me, since I'm just going to use it as a gaming machine going forward. The Toshiba laptop (which I've only had for a little over a year) taking a dump is quite frustrating. Best Buy (where I bought it) was zero help since I didn't buy an extended warranty. Toshiba is sending me a recovery disk and a new hard drive (though I had to pay for both). Hopefully it will be fine after I get both installed.
  21. I was at the gym this morning watching MLB Network, and they had a pretty good segment on this topic. They showed clips of multiple instances over the past year or so with this type of slide. My feeling is that a lot of these "slides" are just plain ridiculous. You have guys literally "sliding" past second base, into a defender's leg/ankle.This isn't diving into second base and then momentum carrying guys past the bag. It's guys not even starting their slide until they are at or past the bag. It isn't "hard baseball". It's doing something with no other intent than hitting the other player.
  22. Had two computers within the last 48 hours go bad. A laptop and a PC. Both had been upgraded to Windows 10. I know it's probably just a coincidence but it doesn't feel like it. I rolled the desktop back to Windows 7 and it's running great. The laptop will be a bit more of a project, as I need to wait for a recovery disk from Toshiba. Ugh.
  23. Of all the baseball players who could have issues like this, Sabathia would have been pretty far down on my list. It takes a big man (figuratively speaking, but also literally in this case) to admit when he has a problem and to get help for it. This link has a statement from him about his decision: https://twitter.com/MarcCarig/status/651082769091678212/photo/1
