  1. Weird, I was just wondering yesterday what had happened to him. It's too bad how one errant pitch seemed to change him instantly.
  2. The price break rumors on the PS3 have been coming up since the system was launched. I wouldn't hold your breath.
  3. Yeah, Sony took out the PS2 compatibility (thought ironically the PS3 will still play old PS1 games). Supposedly the processor that allowed PS2 emulation was too expensive, and may have had other issues like you mentioned. It's pretty tough to find a PS3 that does play PS2 games anymore. If you do buy the PS3, no reason you can't keep the PS2 and let him play his old games on that. That's what I ended up doing. If you like movies, the PS3 is awesome, because it is an excellent Bluray player, and also upconverts regular DVDs to HD resolution quite well (assuming you have a HDTV to utilize that feature).
  4. Yeah, I wouldn't trade Hall to the Yankees for anything less than Kennedy and one other decent player (Melky Cabrera or maybe another pitching prospect). If they actually do have interest in him, they can pay up.
  5. Trenni Kusnierek was on the D-List this morning and summed this up the best: "This is what he gets for being a douche."
  6. I hate it. If they didn't have the Yankees logos and stuff all over, it might be a decent place.
  7. It's under "Training".
  8. I don't see how the Brewers would really have any room for him, honestly, barring further injuries.
  9. I was getting worried until I read that there are two more pitchers besides Kendall in camp. Is three really not enough at the moment?
  10. I agree. Salary relief is one thing, if it makes it easier for the Brewers to make a move mid-season, but Hall's contract is not that horrible. I know he'll probably never have a season like '06 again, but I would say the chances are good that he'll have a better season than last year. Maybe I'm naive, but I think he could bounce back quite a bit this year. He's in great shape and seems motivated to prove the doubters wrong. I wouldn't trade him just to get rid of him. He still has value.
  11. I'm sure it was pure speculation on Olney's part. I wouldn't read anything more into it than that. Really, don't the Yankees have anyone that could fill in for a month or so at 3B? Swisher, or maybe one of their outfielders?
  12. I'll have to double check then. There's so many guys in there, maybe I just missed him.
  13. Dumb question...is Manny Ramirez in the game? I know he's not on the Dodgers roster, as he was still technically a free agent when the game came out. However, I was searching for him under free agents and couldn't find him there either. Griffey, Looper, Abreu, etc. were in there.
  14. I don't know how Koskie could criticize the Brewers. What did they do or not do with him that would upset him? They paid him for basically a year and a half where he didn't play one game of baseball.
  15. What? I played an exhibition game yesterday, and I'm almost positive the Brewers had their alternate dark blue uniforms, if those are the ones you are talking about. I could also choose from two different throwback jerseys...a 1982 one (I think), and one that looked kind of like the Milwaukee Bears unis. This is on the PS3 version I'm playing, though.
  16. As of two years ago. Who knows how he would actually be now?
  17. Game is awesome. I played an exhibition of Brewers vs White Sox...would have won if Gallardo hadn't given up a fluke two run homer. Lost 5-4, so not my worst video game defeat by far. I did get the satisfaction of hitting a homer with Braun. A couple funny things with the Brewers...Macha is not the manager. It's some made up Hispanic looking guy. Also, Weeks seems to be a defensive wizard so far. Also, Cameron defaults as the lead off hitter (I guess they were going off of late last season). As was noted earlier, Miller Park looks much nicer and more accurate than last year. Road to the Show is a lot of fun too. The customization of your player is crazy. You can record audio snippets (though I'm not sure totally how to do that) and create custom chants for your player. Also, the third base coach will sometimes give you signals if you're on base (like rub his belt for a bunt, or rub his leg for steal). Base running is also a little different, and hard to get used to at first...but I think will end up being more intuitive in the long run. You use the left analog stick to move the runner forward or back. There's also batting practice and practice stealing. I had a hilarious thing happen where I tried the practice base running as Corey Hart...I didn't do well at all, and at the end of the session Corey was on the ground and Ed Sedar was yelling at him. Pretty funny.
  18. Reports on ESPN say Bonds' agent is in the process of contacting all 30 clubs. Since it looks like he won't be facing court anytime soon, does that increase his chances of actually playing in '09?
  19. Bought this after lunch this morning, haven't had a chance to play yet. Looking forward to it, though. Kind of dreading trying to hit, since I was still struggling with the demo the last game I played.
  20. It seems like every slugging LF in baseball is regarded as "the worst" from a defensive standpoint. Adam Dunn is said to be horrible. Ryan Braun, while not a liability, was pretty much derided the whole year until he made it a full season without a single error. A couple years ago, Barry Bonds was said to be terrible. Manny isn't very good, El Caballo isn't very good, etc. I think teams don't care that much about a bad defensive LF if he's going to hit 30-40 homers and get on base a bunch.
  21. But the difference is that Jones is a terrible player who basically had to be released from the team. Manny would still be an impact player, and probably relatively worth the $45 million over two years.
  22. I don't really blame Ramirez and Boras for not wanting the deferred money, or at least without interest. I don't know of any other contract in recent baseball history that has been structured in that fashion. I just think they have been somewhat arrogant and disingenuous through this whole thing, and if Manny doesn't sign very soon, he's just going to further hurt his own reputation (of course he may or may not care about that anyway). I can't imagine many of his teammates are exactly thrilled about this circus.
  23. It's stuff like that, and the Clemens deal with the Yankees a couple years ago, that makes me think there should be a rule that if a guy isn't on an MLB roster by, say, June 1st, they shouldn't be able to play for the rest of that season. Guys shouldn't be able to play mercenary and wait out half the season to play for a contender.
  24. Not too many surprises on there, but an interesting read anyway. Thanks.
  25. Suddenly seems like it's become in fashion to rip on Mr. Baseball around here. I'm sure he was just joking about Koskie.
