  1. This Tuesday is the official release date.
  2. I still say he sounds kind of like Costas, for some reason.
  3. I think you have to see him get through a full MLB season before going with a long term contract. We're not the Yankees, here.
  4. According to MLB Trade Rumors, the Cubs are signing Koskie to a minor league deal with a spring training invite (after the WBC). Deal is pending a phsyical, of course.
  5. B2k, your pics aren't loading for me for some reason. I get the red "X" o' doom.
  6. Could happen, given the position the Brewers will hopefully be in, and what is likely to be out there by the trading deadline. Attanasio has said they will be able to spend money mid-season if they're in a position to win again.
  7. Judging from recent pictures, Fielder looks much closer to his '06-'07 form than his '08 size. Any comments on some of the veterans like Lamb and Nixon?
  8. Yes, MLB's current financial outlook looks much more rosy than that of the NBA right now. I didn't realize the Royals' had raised their outlay so much. Good for them.
  9. Yeah, I was going to point out the same thing about the Marlins. How much payroll can they really slash at this point? They pay their whole team slightly more than A-Rod gets for one season. Maybe they could trade their whole team and then call up their entire AAA affiliate...but then hopefully Selig would step in. Could probably make similar arguments about Kansas City and Pittsburgh.
  10. Yes, especially after the big red flag came up with the Michael & Holly situation a couple weeks ago.
  11. I wonder if Miller Park's "ivy" will undergo similar transitions in the game. Played the demo a little bit more...I'm fine with pitching, but I'm absolutely horrible at hitting. I think when I get the actual game I will be stepping it down in the difficulty department. It seems like everything I make contact with is either a ground out or fly out.
  12. I don't think all online courses are as easy as some of you are making it out to be.
  13. Maybe the Dodgers will pull a stunt like the Yankees did with Alex Rodriguez, and say they won't negotiate with Boras any further. Would put the ball in Manny's court completely.
  14. Yeah, that's what is really funny. Boras getting Manny out of Boston was much more to the benefit of Boras than Ramirez.
  15. Apparently the big issue with the offer is that it would have only paid him about $10 million this year and next, and the rest would have been deferred through 2013.
  16. Some interesting comments from Dodgers ownership: "We love Manny Ramirez," said Dodgers Owner Frank McCourt, "And we want Manny back, but we feel we are negotiating against ourselves. When his agent finds those 'serious offers' from other clubs, we'll be happy to re-start the negotiations. Even with an economy that has substantially eroded since last November, out of respect for Manny and his talents, we actually improved our offer. So now, we start from scratch."
  17. There are no other teams interested in him. Spring training is already under way. If some other team was going to make him an offer, they would have done so by now. The Dodgers need to stop dinking around with him and just give Boras a hard deadline. Lay out all their offers again, say "You have until next Friday to pick one...otherwise we'll assume your client has no real interest in playing with us again." Then leave it at that.
  18. I could have sworn I posted in this thread before, but I don't know if my post was deleted or something or what. Anyway, I appreciate a lot of people here. Brian (of course), hawing, colbyjack, TooLiveBrew, PeavyFury, Fatter Than Joey, RoCoBrewFan, just to name a few. I'll even go ahead and give the devil his due to rluzinski...even though he's annoyed me sometimes, I appreciate the perspective he brings to this forum. It may sound corny, but this is my favorite site on the internet. I probably spend more time on this board than any other website, by far.
  19. You can just hear the love of the Cubs he has during this game. Yes, that should be in blue.
  20. FWIW, I bought a 50" Pioneer Kuro plasma (the non-Elite version) last Friday, and absolutely love it thus far. It's a bit more expensive than some other options out there right now, but it was a nice upgrade over our older Mitsubishi 48" projection set (which found a nice home with a local buyer). The picture on this plasma set is stunning.
  21. Now that the off-season is almost over, I would think his "punishment" has gone on long enough. Speaking of bannings, would it be inappropriate to have a thread in this part of the forum posting when and why bannings occur? Might serve as a good notice to others about what behavior is or isn't acceptable.

  23. Probably got it from northsidebaseball.com.
  24. I'm an extremely casual Bucks watcher. Man, they got killed last night, though. Seems like they've been "just under .500" for the past three months, too.
  25. I agree with Nottso. I only caught a bit of the game yesterday (darn work and stuff getting in the way), but I thought he sounded pretty comfortable in the booth with Uke. I still say he sounds a bit like Bob Costas, for some reason.
