  1. Haha, I can only imagine what that "(butt)" was covering up. Too funny. I'm really liking Macha's attitude so far this year.
  2. Maybe he has "tools", but I cannot fathom Rickie becoming better offensively than Fielder or Braun at this point. I do agree that Rickie was probably rushed to the Majors. I think it was quite obvious...I mean, they basically had no other options at 2B after they traded Junior Spivey. But I don't think Rickie is this unknown quantity at this point, like some seem to still think. I think we know what we can expect from him by now. It seems like this season and the last two years have been called "make or break" years for the guy. I know he was a high draft pick and mashed in the minors...but at some point I think fans have to accept the data we've been presented with on a player.
  3. Mtrebs, you are probably right. The closer we get to Opening Day without any info, makes me think it probably won't be all or most of the games. But still, even if we only get half the games in HD, that would be an improvement over last season, I guess. FYI, I think only like five games or so won't be on some kind of TV station throughout the whole season this year, HD or not. We've come a long way, as far as TV coverage of the Brewers. If FSN's analog signal didn't look so bad on our HDTV, I wouldn't complain...but the HD is such a gigantic step up in picture quality and sound.
  4. Imagine if Ned Yost had been as adamant about holding onto his job as Elvis Stafford seems to be!
  5. The only way Rickie should be moved at this point is through trade, and we all know that's probably not happening. I don't see where Braun and Fielder even come into the equation, though. You have one mediocre player and two well above average offensive players. So you're going to trade one of the good players so you can toy with a position change for the mediocre one? Not really the most logical thing, IMHO.
  6. OK, I thought I read differently on rotoworld, but I realize their info isn't always 100% accurate anyway.
  7. Ok. It's a little heavy handed, but ......OK.Not really. I go to lots of message boards, and it gets old scrolling past all the "I agree," and "+1" posts to find the actual content. That's one of the nice things about BF.net...less filler posts to sift through. No offense to you, though. That is a good point about Weeks, though. I think it's safe to say the Brewers will just stick with him at this point and probably let him walk away when his service time is up after next year.
  8. I'm starting to debate if we should switch to one of the sat providers. We have Charter right now, and pay about $150 a month for TV, phone, and high speed internet. We have the DVR/HD box in our main living room, but regular cable in the other rooms. I guess that's the kicker. It's just I'm kind of miffed because I would like to add a second digital receiver for our bedroom, mainly so I could get MLB Network and some of the other digital channels, and the customer serice rep I spoke to said it would be an extra 10 bucks per month. He wouldn't budget on that at all. I just don't see why I should pay that much extra per month just to be able to get channels we already subscribe to on a second TV. Of course if we still got internet and phone through Charter but not TV, it would probably all end up being a wash cost wise, anyway.
  9. I guess I don't get why Weeks can't be the one who gets replaced...would it really be that big of a waste to have Escobar at 2B, even if it's only for a season or two? I'm not advocating rushing Escobar though. The guy has barely played at AAA at all, so it's dangerous to assume he could step in at play well at the MLB level this year.
  10. Is there a way you can make your roster and sliders load automatically every time you start the game, or do you always have to do it manually? I realized that's why my music settings were disappearing...I wasn't loading the rosters every time I play.
  11. I enjoyed last night's episode. It was nice to see Andy get some face time again, even if he only had a few lines.
  12. Well, it's nice to say "lock up Hardy," but if he is adamant about "testing free agency", it's pretty much all for naught.
  13. And a lot of people think that the use of "range" in measuring a player's defense is way overrated.
  14. Hey, cool idea. I'd be interested in that Prince bobble. Thanks.
  15. If he really gets bad, I have no doubt they will put him in the bullpen. I have faith in Melvin and Macha to do the right thing. Hopefully, he will at least be serviceable as a #5 pitcher, and we won't have to worry about it.
  16. Have you considered, you know, talking to them about this issue?
  17. I suspect the Yankees will trade Kennedy, but maybe not 'til the trade deadline if they need an extra piece. Would love to see the Brewers get a guy like him...seems like he could benefit from a lower pressure environment.
  18. Yeah, we waited until late last year, and all the free tickets were gone. They at least let us upgrade (which is actually pretty reasonable) to better seats by paying the difference.
  19. Yeah, one of my big problems early on was swinging at too many pitches. It seems like you have to be much more accurate than in years past, unless you adjust the sliders. Otherwise you completely miss, ground out, or pop up like crazy. At least that was my experience.
  20. Backupcatchers, hopefully you are right. It's just a big risk to always assume the young guys are going to step in and immediately perform like that. I think the Brewers have been very fortunate to see so many successful young guys come up. Maybe that points to better scouting, or maybe it's lucky, or probably some of both. Other than Rickie Weeks (who is arguable), the Brewers haven't really had any "bust" prospects come up in the last few years.
  21. I'm not running franchise mode at all. I was playing a one off exhibition game when I noticed the music had gone back to the generic stuff. Weird.
  22. Man, the more I read this thread, the more depressed I get. It seems like we're going to be doomed to having five year windows where we realistically contend for one or two seasons, and then the other three or four years are letting the youngsters mature before they inevitably leave.
  23. Tisko, I had the same problem. I switched back to "classic" base running. This morning I got the bases loaded in the 9th inning, down by 2 runs against the Nats with only one out...I hit a monster sac fly, but then screwed up with the running and got doubled up at 1B to end the game. I chalk it up as a victory since I didn't remember exactly how the classic base running controls work. I'm getting better with hitting...in the same game I was down 6-0 (thanks to Yovani giving up three bombs, including a grand slam...), but rallied back to get four runs before the 9th inning. I would really suggest playing with the sliders. I decided making the game a bit easier was healthier for my personal sanity than to constantly be cursing at the TV, because you normally have to be dead on accurate with your hitting on the default settings to get any kind of offense going. Anyone have issues with adding custom walk up music? I added some I got off that operationsports.com link for some of the Brewers the other day (after the roster update), but now they all defaulted back to the generic music. What gives?
  24. Right. If it comes down to spending that money on Hardy, or possibly a starting pitcher in the future, a team like the Brewers will want that money for pitching. They seem to be pretty prospect rich, as far as position players. Not so much with their pitching.
