  1. Haudricourt had a similar report in his blog today. He said the difference was "noticeable," and that Prince seems dedicated to keeping his weight down.
  2. Listening to his interview from WTMJ right now. His attitude seems fine enough, and his voice doesn't annoy me. To be honest, his voice reminds me of Bob Costas a little bit, which isn't a bad thing.
  3. Not having a whole five games on TV during a season in this day and age is garbage. I'm going to start a petition.
  4. Come on...I don't think you're being really fair with that. I'm guessing JP had other chances to leave before this, and didn't. You can't fault someone for returning to their home area. I mean, judging from Powell's statement on the front page of this site, he clearly weighed the issue heavily before making a decision. I think we as Brewers fans have become jaded due to players seemingly always leaving at the first opportunity to do so that we project that onto everyone connected with the team, for whatever reason. Yeah, this has been a tough off season in some ways, but I'm not going to get all angsty about the first change in the radio booth in 12 years. I loved Powell too, but I'm not going to blame him for moving on. I'm sure Provus will have some growing pains sharing the booth with the legendary Bob Uecker, but I don't think the Brewers would have hired him if they didn't see potential in him to become an elite baseball radio announcer who can't at least hold his own on the airwaves. I sound like I'm talking about the Brewers farm system, so I'll shut up now.
  5. Nooooooooooooo! Not the Cubs fan! Seriously, I'm sure he'll be fine. At least let's give him a chance.
  6. Yeah, if Rickey Henderson can't get 100%, Maddux won't either. Slightly OT: I wonder if the next Basketball Hall of Fame vote is going to give Michael Jordan a 100% vote (I have no idea how that one works, though).
  7. Crewin06, with that kind of tone you're using, I'm not going to bother responding to you at this point. I may reconsider in the future, but for now, I won't participate further in this conversation any longer. I just think it's disgusting that someone on a message board dedicated to the Milwaukee Brewers is trying to tear down one of the most iconic and respected figures in the game. Therefore, I am going to remove myself from this particular discussion.
  8. I think you're really underestimating Aaron's ability. He was just one of those handful once in a generation truly remarkable hitters. I can't prove he didn't use steroids, just like you can't prove he did. I just think it's dangerous, but also easy, to throw around suggestions like that without any real hard evidence to back them up. Yeah, he hit 47 home runs in '71, but he had several years before that where he hit 40 or more (6 in fact, with several being around 44 or 45 in a season). So his jump in home run production really was not that remarkable.
  9. Yeah, they definitely do need to perform closer to '07 than '08 as a whole. Hopefully the new manager and coaching staff can have a positive influence on that.
  10. Looking like Griffey will be back with the Mariners, or possibly the Braves, according to recent reports on MLB Trade Rumors.
  11. Again, it's been said, but we can't keep expecting all the Brewers' prospects to almost immediately be MLB ready starters when they've barely grazed AAA. Between Lambe, McGehee, Hall, and I guess Counsell (if they really have to)l, they should be able to field a competent platoon until Hall is ready.
  12. Ultimately it doesn't matter since steroids were perfectly legal at the time, anyway. I just don't find your arguments that he did very convincing. We're talking about the guy who held probably the most prestigious record in sports for like 30 years...if he had used steroids, wouldn't someone have cashed in by now and wrote a book about how the Home Run King did 'roids to beat Ruth's record? I've never heard anyone really even suggest he did so. Also, one thing being ignored is that Aaron did change his approach to hitting later in his career specifically to hit more home runs. This has been stated by himself and many other players.
  13. Yeah, I heard some people talking about this on MLB Home Plate a while ago. They said that during economic down times, sometimes baseball attendance actually goes up, because instead of taking a big vacation, a family might go to a couple ballgames instead.
  14. Yeah, he could still be ready for Opening Day, possibly.
  15. Yeah, come to think of it I don't think he was there at all, which was weird because Angela mentioned selling the ring he gave her.
  16. I got that...I guess I just missed what his point was.
  17. I really liked last night's episode. And I actually thought they did a nice job with Michael, where he seemed to be doing a decent job of his presentation at the other branch, but quickly regressed into self destructive over-sensitive Michael. Pam imitating Michael really amused me as well.
  18. Rillo, I don't get what you mean by that. I think they will break last year's number, by just a little bit. I don't know why, but I just have a gut feeling that people will out in force again this season. I would guess around 3.1 million.
  19. And before anyone suggests the Brewers should pick him up again, Tom Haudricourt reports "GM Doug Melvin and other club officials have made it clear that they have no intention of trying to re-sign him." That's from his latest blog post.
  20. How come other players seem to get passes for injuries (Weeks, Sheets) on this board, but Suppan gets crucified despite having injury issues this past year? He really wasn't that bad, all in all. Yeah, I'm mad he pitched in the final game of the NLDS too, but I think that bad performance has really soured a lot of people on him, more than they should be.
  21. OK, this is getting really old. Why do people on this board need to continually insinuate Aaron may have done steroids when there's never been any real evidence that he did? May as well say, "There's no proof that Babe Ruth wasn't on the juice, either." You can't prove a negative.
  22. Selig is just posturing to keep the union and others on their toes, I think. I doubt very seriously they could punish A-Rod if they wanted to.
  23. Well, baseball players should be better today considering most of them do nothing but play baseball from the time they're about 10 up (give or take). A lot of those old timers had to work second jobs, work during the off-season, etc. Also, today's training and nutritional routines are more developed, which can make a huge difference.
