  1. My vent is that the Cubs won both their games yesterday, so we weren't able to gain any ground at all on their division lead. This was despite Soriano totally hot dogging it on a hit that bounced off the wall and only got a single out of it. Go back and watch that one the next time someone complains about Fielder or Braun pausing for half a second out of the box.
  2. I guess I'm not impressed. The whole thing seems really contrived (the site, not the Brewers' ritual).

  5. I really don't think Prince did anything that bad. It was a very brief pause, then he ran. That one was a goner, and everyone in Petco knew it.
  6. 7 in a row, and Jeff Suppan is being his usual late season self. Nice time to be a Brewers fan.
  7. Sheffield is probably the biggest crybaby to play in MLB in the last 20 years. I can't believe he was my first favorite Brewer as a kid (aside from maybe Molitor). I even had a poster of him up in my room.
  8. Yeah, I don't get the Nix call up. To be honest, I'd forgotten the Brewers still had him in their system anymore. Now will anyone take back their calls of Yost being a total idiot for playing Counsell over Branyan the last few days?
  9. I do remember Brian Anderson basically saying at the beginning of the season that in 2009, pretty much all the games should be in HD, which will be pretty sweet.
  10. At least his injury is timely, I guess.
  11. I prefer Homer on 540 AM's mentality about it, in thinking of the Wild Card "division" as a fourth division in each league. Yes, it's sort of a false premise, but it other ways it makes sense if you simply figure the top five or six wild card contenders make up that "division."
  12. I brought up Yost because he still seems to be the number one complaint heard about in regards to this team. Some people seem just dead convinced we cannot win anything with him at the helm, even though the Crew currently holds the NL Wild Card spot. I don't know if I believe we "should have 9 or 10 more wins this season" either. Every team is going to lose some games "they should have won." It happens in sports.
  13. I actually did like Brainerd. His humor was definitely needed during a couple of those seasons. Trenni has been a tremendous addition to the broadcasts. She seems to be pretty popular with the fans, and makes a ton of appearances on local radio and elsewhere. I would expect she'll definitely be back next year, barring some offer of a national media job. She also seems to be much more knowledgeable about the Brewers and baseball than some past people who filled that role (Ann Carrol being number one).
  14. Rivera has been doing fine in the backup role anyway.
  15. I'm pretty sure the player's union prohibits MLB teams from trading players to a foreign league.
  16. Let's not kid ourselves...I'm sure Melvin will make some sort of offer to CC and/or Sheets...but the market will dictate if it will be enough (and we all know it likely won't be). They're not going to go overboard to sign a starting pitcher just because fans become a little more vocal about it.
  17. Like probably half the MLB players his age have similar wardrobes, I would venture to say.
  18. I remember that being discussed on "The Show" on MLB-XM this past off-season, and a lot of Giants fans that called in were fairly peeved about it. Rob Dibble talked about how hypocritical it was for the Giants to do that after making so much money off Bonds for years, and I tend to agree. I don't like the guy either, but it's silly to shove his legacy off in some corner after all the hoopla regarding his home run chase.
  19. I think everyone is just joking about the Marisa Miller thing. Anyway, yes, I again hope this is just something that takes maybe a couple days to recover from, and nothing more serious. Really, as much as Braun has played this year, a few days off wouldn't be that horrible, especially given the teams the Brewers are facing right now.
  20. I still hear people (mainly on the radio) ripping on Yost. I have no idea what there is to complain about in regards to the manager at this point. I think it's logical that if the team doesn't make the playoffs, he won't be back next year; but really how you can you be mad at the manager of a team that is 16 games over .500? I'm tired of it. I'm very happy to see the Brewers playing so well lately, as I'm sure most are here.
  21. I think I heard that some Brewers fans tried something like this a few years back. I think the site was "buythebrewersapitcher.com" or something like that. Anyway, it was indeed against MLB rules.
  22. http://blogs.jsonline.com/brewers/archive/2008/08/10/a-rivera-sighting.aspx
  23. Looks like Kapler is starting instead of Braun (according to Haudricourt). Hopefully he is just getting the day off as a precautionary type thing, and this isn't a sign of something more serious.
  24. My question is if Ryan Braun will be in the lineup or not.
  25. I don't think any Packers in the '80s could have surpassed Yount and Molitor in statewide recognition. In the early '90s Majikowski probably would have been near the top, though. Also Sterling Sharpe was a pretty huge start for a while.
