  1. I think if either of those guys, Yount or Molitor, had any real interest in managing (especially in Milwaukee), they'd already have been here. Supposedly Wendy Selig-Prieb offered Molitor basically any job he wanted, and he declined.
  2. I think San Fran won't want him back after this season. They probably know they need to get younger, and better defensively. I doubt Bonds seriously figures into their '08 plans.
  3. I was born in Wisconsin and still live here.
  4. Managers are hired to get fired anyway. I doubt Phil Garner is too emotionally traumatized over this.
  5. I'm pretty sure this team isn't going to finish the season at all, because they will all be DFAed, and Mark Attanasio will close down Miller Park after firing Melvin and Yost.
  6. Guys, Mark Attanasio is a smart businessman. I don't think he's oblivious to the fact that a poor finish to this season will impact ticket sales for '08. I dont' think he's living in a plastic bubble like some seem to be implying.
  7. Well, Houston will be in rebuild mode to a point after this season, so it might not be a real bad idea to change manager's at this juncture.
  8. I think Garner was a good manager for the Brewers, given what he had to work with, but I'm not interested in seeing him back in Milwaukee at this point.
  9. Well, it's definitely really tough to get enthusiastic about this team right now. To break out the old cliche, the Cubs series is basically "must win". If they drop 2 or 3 to the Cubs, it's going to be very tough to crawl back up the standings at this point. It's scary how the only reason the Crew is .500 at this point is because of that great start to the season. If they had only played .500-ish ball then, we'd be in third or fourth place easily.
  10. I wouldn't hold your collective breath at this point. I don't think Melvin is going to do anything right now. I doubt adding one relief pitcher is going to do much of anything for this team at this point, as bad as the starting pitching has been.
  11. Before the end of the season? With only a little over 30 games left, I doubt it would really do much at this point.
  12. At least Suppan usually gives the team a chance to win, even if he is extremely mediocre. Capuano has just been downright bad for most of this season.
  13. How can you blame Yost for last night's loss? The pitching choked completely, plain and simple. People are right though, Vargas should not be starting, which is just sad, since Sheets and still injured and they just put Capuano in the pen. I guess I would let Parra and/or Villanueva start, and just hope someone actually steps up in these critical upcoming games.
  14. Seems like we could use about any bullpen arm at this point, and Wickman would be a decent addition for this year if we didn't have to give up too much.
  15. I'm surprised MLB doesn't put a baseball team in the Deep South at some point, but maybe it's due to economic reasons. There's basically no teams in the southern region of the country, aside from the teams in Texas, Atlanta, and the Florida teams. You never hear about an area like Mobile or Jackson trying to get a team, for some reason.
  16. Can't wait for him to get some big NFL contract so he can buy a bunch of bling while rolling in his Escalade, and then shoot a stripper or something. It does seem like this thing is some kind of joke. It's basically the total profile of the stereotypical ignorant young American black man.
  17. Yeah, people (mostly ignorant East Coasters) may say Milwaukee is a crummy baseball town, but look at the attendance figures for the last couple years. Look at the TV ratings. We're supporting the team. Heck, look how many people came out for that short notice Angels-Indians series. People who say Milwaukee is a bad baseball town are full of garbage, and we really don't need to tolerate it at this point. The people in Florida (especially within Miami) are not supporting their team. I don't see the Devil Rays relocating anytime soon, but the Marlins are basically a poster child for relocation, which is sad, since they've won two World Series Championships. I can't see any really viable cities for them to move to, though, other than Portland, and that would take away MLB's biggest bargaining chip when it comes to holding other cities hostage for new stadiums.
  18. My default dining experience at Miller Park is a bratwurst (loaded with everything on it), and Cactus League nachos (with beef). I usually have at least one beer. We often bring in snacks and water/soda, though.
  19. I'm surprised the Rangers managed to score 9 runs in the second game. You'd think their arms would be falling off from all the hitting by that point, but I guess not.
  20. I think the move to the bullpen might actually be the perfect thing for him...it seems like he is usually good for about four innings, before he falls apart and loses his command, giving up runs. He could make an ideal middle reliever.
  21. Let's face it, anyone who looks that similar to Brett Favre is never going to get a fair shake on brewerfan.net.
  22. Depends on if the pitcher he was facing at the time was right handed or not.
  23. I had to look up the Canseco reference, but that's pretty amazing. I can't believe a manager would have a star player like that pitch in a situation like that.
  24. Yeah...I'm not sure why he hasn't been DFAed yet, really.
  25. Yeah...he is, if I'm not mistaken, the third most productive Brewer on offense behind Braun and Fielder in the second half. You can find fault with a lot of things on this team, but Jenkins isn't really one of them (at the moment). I think it's nice that he's having his second half tear this year, and it actually means something. I kind of laughed when I read where you said "some on this site might be overrating him." I think this site has been overly critical of him at times, personally. He's not my favorite player, and I won't be sad if he's gone after this year, either...but he's still contributing at the moment.
