I'd love to say that this will spark the team and get them going on a winning streak, but how often do things actually go right for this team lately? It worked for the Cubs...which means that the Brewers are going to go into a tailspin. I don't really think the Brewers are going to lose too much ground in the coming days, but if they start winning again, it's going to because the team is playing well, and not that there was a shouting match in the middle of a blowout loss.
My understanding is that Linebrink won't be activated until tomorrow, because his bereavement leave didn't start counting 'til Wednesday, and it is a three day minimum.
While Suppan has definitely been disappointing this season, I still think it was the right move at the time. They needed pitching help, and they went out and got the best person available at the time. That said, I hope Suppan turns things around as the season continues.
It was about time for Weeks. I think he needed a break from all the pressure. I'm sure he'll be able to right himself in Nashville. I'm not that familiar with Joe Dillon. Can we expect much from him?
Dumb question: Why is playing soccer in a football stadium not ideal? The shape of the playing fields are basically identical. I must be missing something.
Nice trade for both teams, it seems like. I was hoping, even just a little bit, that the Brewers would try and get Salty, because I think he would've been nice to have for the future. Ah well, I bet he'll do well in Texas.
It's not fun right now...we're not even losing to good teams. Losing 3 of 4 to teams like the Mets and Dodgers would be one thing, but we're losing to the bottom barrel teams of the league. The Brewers have a losing record since mid-May or so...again, not very fun to deal with. The Crew has a tenuous half game lead over the Cubs, of all teams. It's hard to get pumped up and excited when your team is basically begging to lose its first place spot in their division.
Eh...I think Estrada has a point. The Brewers can't be worrying about the Cubs everyday...they have to worry about winning games themselves. The Brewers are going to get hot again and string together a few wins. Everyone isn't going to continue to slump for the final eight weeks of the season. At some point, guys are going to get the bats going again.
It would be funny, but I don't want to see the Brewers making trades for over the hill players just because it might have some mental effect on an opposing team or its fans.
5. ARod- He is a complete choker and Jeter is better. That sounds like something a person on ESPN would say. A-Rod is an amazing player. All the talk about him being "unclutch" is pretty silly, in my opinion. Yeah, he leads MLB in homers, last I checked...he must just get them all when they don't count, I guess.
I forgot he was with the Yankees now. Good for him, I guess. Yeah, that's not a super line, but giving up 0 runs is never bad. Still don't miss him, though.
I'll raise the point, that's been said before, that pitching well against minor league hitters doesn't necessarily equate to MLB success. Look at Hendrickson and Eveland. I'm not saying Inman can't or won't do well, but a few nice starts doesn't guarantee he'll be successful in the big show.
I actually don't mind the guys on "Wisconsin's Sports Weekend"...at least they are somewhat knowledgeable about the Brewers and sound like they pay attention to the games, unlike Michaels who usually just blathers about some of the stuff on the surface, and doesn't really seem to be in tune with what's going on with the team as a whole.
I'm starting to think the Brewers may have to consider that Weeks is not their 2B of the future, at this point, much as I hate to say it. He just isn't living up to his hype and potential. I know he's been hurt, but it's not like this is his first season either.
