  1. That's pretty lame if they said that. Don't get WSSP out here (their signal is way too weak), so I wouldn't know for sure.
  2. Well, he didn't pull any punches on this one, so I guess Dunn isn't coming to Milwaukee.
  3. Ugh...that's not what this team needs at this point.
  4. Honestly, I don't believe at the MLB level that chemistry is all that important. Yeah, you can't have big locker room cancers, but overall these guys are pros, and I don't think one guy leaving and another coming in will have that much of an effect.
  5. Would love to have him...does anyone know if the Marlins would seriously trade him, though?
  6. OK, time for the Brewers to reassess their offense at this point and do something about it. The Cubs are breathing down our necks. Enough is enough...let's make a move already.
  7. He should be suspended for life from the NFL, if he is guilty. The NFL needs to rid itself of anyone like this associated with subhuman culture like dog fighting.
  8. Making the playoffs does generate a lot of extra revenue. Teams get a huge bonus for making the World Series, even if they don't win. I really think Attanasio wants to be the man to bring a World Championship to Milwaukee. Whether we'll see that extra bit of cash spent this year or in the future, I can't say.
  9. This one is older from 2001, but I remember reading it, and his opinion of Barry wasn't too high even then: sportsillustrated.cnn.com...of_reilly/
  10. I guess I take a similar mentality...7 years or so with one team for any ace pitcher is pretty good these days.
  11. It sounds kind of neat...Bart Starr and Joe Montana as quarterbacks is kind of cool. I don't have an Xbox 360 or PS3, so I won't be playing it, though.
  12. Football at the US Cellular Arena sounds kind of weird. Is that where the Mustangs played?
  13. I didn't see that one yet. What was the gist of his opinion?
  14. Well, Sheets has re-signed with the Brewers once already. I could see him giving a little bit of a hometown discount. I bet he feels a little bad about his various stints on the DL. That said, I don't know if the Brewers will necessarily need Sheets by 2009, as crazy as that sounds. Could they use him? Of course. But by that time, Villy, Parra, and Yo could be solidified in the rotation, and we might still have Suppan, Bush, Cappy, etc. It might come down to whether or not someone else has stepped up to be the "ace" by that point.
  15. At the rate he is going, will he even be pitching in 2009, or will his thumbs have fallen off in some kind of freak accident?
  16. Hopefully Capuano can go out and pitch a great game tonight, and not force Ned's hand on moving him to the bullpen or something.
  17. I do think soccer's popularity has a bit to do with it. I know it's not the same thing as baseball, but I played on a boy's city league softball team one year in grade school, and the following year the program was cut because too many of the same kids were playing soccer. So, yeah, it does have an effect on other sports.
  18. Thank you for that post, whizkid. Sports are about emotion and excitement. Sheets has been injured multiple times in the past several years, and the severity of those injuries has varied. Sheets gets paid a lot of money to be the staff ace, and it's not exactly unwarranted if people get upset that he's once again been struck with some freak injury. To expect a rational discussion when there's no rational explanation for Sheets' injury history is being a tad over hopeful, IMHO.
  19. Yeah, but using the F bomb is a little out of line, especially when he knows he's under scrutiny.
  20. Sheets' latest trip to the DL is frustrating, simply because it comes at a really bad time (yes, I know there's no good time for your ace pitcher to get injured). I hope these call ups work nicely and that our current starters continue stepping up and giving quality starts. At the same time, I hope Melvin is working the phones extra hard, and a trade for another proven starter or at least a reliever is maybe in the works to help down the stretch.
  21. I'm not a parent or a teacher/coach, but I would think a lot of it depends on how involved the parents want to be with their kids. Let's face it...a lot of times parenting these days involves sitting your kid in front of the TV, or playing video games, like others have mentioned. I think people don't have as much time to devote to playing catch with their kid, or getting them involved in a youth baseball league, unfortunately. I'm sure there are still plenty of places where there are active little leagues and such, and that has to do with parents wanting their kids to participate.
  22. Soak it in gasoline and burn it, while laughing hysterically. OK, not really. I'd probably see what I could get from Bonds for it. I bet he'd be willing to buy it for a decent chunk of change. I don't like Bonds, but I'd understand what the ball would mean to him, and I wouldn't want to be like that one guy who still has one of Aaron's key homer balls, and refuses to sell it back (I think it's number 714 or 715, I can't remember though).
  23. Yeah, I really hope Suppan realizes he needs to go more than 5 innings today. Not just to prove the doubters wrong, but to give the bullpen a little bit of a breather. Hopefully the offense can score more than 1 run before the ninth inning as well. To comment on last night's game, it was very refreshing to see the Brewers win at the end last night, and see the excitement at Miller Park and amongst the team when they got the victory. It was a great moment that they can hopefully build on, to keep the Cubs at bay in the standings.
  24. Yeah, and it appears to only be this seller's second auction, and like you said, absolutely no verification of what this is. Oh yeah, not to mention a ridiculous asking price. PASS.
  25. Ben Sheets gets to play the stopper yet again.
