    You move Turang to SS so that way you can mix and match the rest of the positions. I really wouldn't define the rest of the positions because you make them earn the time. Like yeah sure it might be Durbin/Ortiz to start but if one of them starts to struggle, you start giving Collins/Siegler/Wilken/whoever starts. Then maybe Ortiz is more of the Utility guy, cool. And if no one emerges, then you can actually trade for a 2nd or 3rd basemen midseason because SS is absolutely dire out there and you aren't going to get one. Certainly no one comparable to Turang.

    In general FG does not like guys who are opposite field only or basically fully inside out only guys in the minors. They can put up great numbers in the minors with it, but you are near borderline overwhelmed by that level pitching and success is unlikely as you move up. In Dinges case yea sounds like his power is opposite field so makes sense you’d be concerned about higher velocity in the future.

    I never put much stock in wRC+ when looking at minor leaguers. You can just get away with too much and still have success, but it’s just not going to fly in the MLB. I think Carlos Rodriguez is the epitome of this, great command that dominated the lower minors but just doesn’t have the raw stuff needed as he progressed. That’s why FG is one of my favorite prospect lists because it does a good job imo of trying to figure out the flaw a guy has that will cause him not to make it, because let’s be real most of the guys aren’t. So it’s a real bummer he sees issues with Wilken and Pratt to a lesser extent, and thinks Dinges swing is too long. He did mention in last weeks chat that Adams might be a guy he is most wrong about in the league. Sometimes the unorthodox guy pans out! Also taken aback by how gushing he is about Made, you don’t see that from Eric given the approach I just mentioned. Wow!

    Also the trade included the 34th pick which became Blake Burke, who signed under slot which helped sign promising guys like Dubanewicz. As far as Burke goes he finally got his ground ball rate down in the second half in AA and produced stellar numbers there. Hopefully it was not a fluke because he’s got crazy power.

    Probably not and Pratt would probably hit like Turang did his first season anyway. SS is a dire position in the league so my guess is Ortiz will have a shorter leash and Turang will be moved to SS if Ortiz doesn’t perform. Then you can at least trade for a 2nd/3rd baseman if it comes down to it.

    Rosenthal mentioned the Brewers might still sign him to a multiyear deal that would lower his AAV.

    Yeah I don’t get the obsession with the 10 mil. Just look at as if he was paid 15 mil last season instead of a paltry 5 mil.

    Eric Longenhagen of Fangraphs compared Adamczewski to Corey Dickerson after watching him in the AFL. Fine by me.

    Right franchise values are irrelevant. The big thing with the Dodgers is they are owned by a massive investment firm so they simply invest the team's profits and use those proceeds to fund an even higher payroll. And why they absolutely love deferred deals because they know they can outpace those payments with investment earnings.

    Lineup is much better with Collins instead of Perkins so I have been worried with Chourios hamstring that they’d have to continue playing Perkins/Lockridge. Hell yea Frelick!

    I’m all for moving Turang to shortstop. It just opens up the most options to improve the lineup as you can assemble a bunch of various 2nd/3rd base options and hope one of them emerges as a viable option. Or you just play the hot hand and mix and match as necessary. So between Durbin/Ortiz/Siegler/Wilken/depth signings and trades etc you hope at bats are earned. And if they all stink, you hit the rental trade market mid year. It’s so rare guys are traded now and basically everyone is replacement level anyway. It’s why you often see on the board people ask for potential targets to those wanting FA signings and trades, because there’s nothing out there. And when Pratt and Made and such finally make it, you either move Turang back to second or honestly just throw them in the 2nd/3rd pile and force them to emerge. It’s probably for the better as it seems like it’s harder than ever for position prospects and you really need multiple options and not end up like the Cubs did with Shaw this year.

    In his case though the dramatic change is due to throwing a kick change up this year.

    Vaughn is looking like a platoon player on the short side, but a great one, so I would decline him at that cost and try to get him back at a lower price. I would then decline Bauers and maybe bring him back if you can't find a lefty first baseman that you would prefer to give primary playing time. Too bad Adams and Wilken are both righties as they will be in AAA and could be mid year callups, although I don't know what their splits look like. But Fischer will be at AA at least so hopefully one emerges out of the group to be the primary in 2027.

    I don't even really consider yesterday a bullpen game anyway. If Miz started the game and pitched 3 innings, what difference does it make? We don't have the type of starters that can go more than 4-5 innings, but that's not a bad thing. Your bullpen can essentially pitch every game with the days off and you want the Brewers bullpen out there every game, they are awesome! I feel even better about everything now that Patrick looked phenomenal yesterday as a reliever as that really helps the 4-6th inning range of the game.

    Really just saving Rea and Brown from coming in earlier so whatever

    Not just a Brewer thing now, most pitchers only go 4-5 in the playoffs now since you can throw your best bullpen out there every game essentially. So thanks Freddy.

    Payamps will get released when Megill and other possibilities like Gasser come up anyway, so might as well as get Yoho's 15 days running early in case you need him at the end of the month.

    Imanaga has a goofy contract. It says Player Option, but there's actually a club option first for a 3 year 57 million extension. If that was declined, then it gets to him for the player option. I'd be pretty surprised if the Cubs don't pick the club option up.

    BA put the system weakness as being power, but obviously they have to pick a weakness even for their number 1 ranked system. And they noted drafting Fischer helps with that issue.

    Yeah it would be pretty bizarre that he would get two years worth of service time by winning the ROY. It definitely seems to be only for those who didn't accrue a full year naturally ie Miz.

    I mean it wouldn't surprise me if he settled to be a 4th/5th type starter, but that's still tremendous value given how many years the Brewers have control for. Also it is funny you bring up Lauer, given the incredible year he is having with the Blue Jays.

    Yes I hope the writers actually look at the overall usage of a player and not just go with I've heard of this guy logic. Then I am hoping for those in the latter group, they will have some old man bitterness about Miz's All Star appearance and put him lower in the vote.
