  1. Please, no trade clauses get waived all the time, usually after an influx of cash to the player. And Lucroy was the guy saying he wanted to play for a contender, so if anything Stearn was trying to do Luc a favor.
  2. Well the pirates can spin it however they want. If I was a pirates fan right now I'd be pretty upset. The pirates stunk for as long as the Royals were bad. The royals have been to two WS and won one. The pirates haven't even won a playoff game and now they are sellers at the deadline. They never made an all in move and you could argue their window is either closed or closing fast. There are Brewer's fans that complain about the trades Melvin made, but I'd much rather take a shot than stand pat like the pirates.
  3. I don't recall them mentioning a reason...it is LePay today. He doesn't give much more than the basic commentary honestly. That should really be the color man's job shouldn't it? Especially considering LePay is a sub anyway.
  4. A bad first inning comes to an end. Understatement of the year there.
  5. That's funny. He does have a reverse split so far. OPS .714 vs righties and .822 vs lefties. He only has 48 ABs against lefties. His career OPS vs righties is .781
  6. Middlebrooks makes Keon Broxton look like Wade Boggs. The pitch he struck out on was in the LH batters box. I'm don't need to see another Middlebrooks AB this year. DFA him. He's worthless.
  7. I don't side with Boras in very many instances but I do in this case. How many other teams have done this with one of their starters over the last 10 years? Has it happened one time? It's bush league by the Brewers. You pay Cappy 1 mil+ and your concerned about $24,000...yea yea it's about the extra bat not the money...the extra bat is hitting .238 at Colorado Springs, not very good for a hitters ballpark, should of brought up Manny Pina and pulled Wilkins off 40 man...plus they knew they were going to move Hill. They should of brought Wilkins in after trade and left Davies on roster. He can pinch run better than Wilkins anyway. It has absolutely nothing to do with money and everything to do with getting an extra bench player and getting Davies a regular start that he would miss on the big league team. And it has happened, often. While not common it's not usual for guys to be sent down around the all star break to keep getting playing time. The only thing I will give Boras credit for is speaking up for someone who is really a nobody among his clientele. Although he probably had some intern or low level assistant inform him of it happening. I thought they said Davies is not going to start for Colorado, he's just going to throw a bullpen.
  8. That writer doesn't have any inside info or appear to have even interviewed the victim. He's just doing what you are doing, assuming Kang is guilty because there is an investigation. I have no idea if he is innocent or guilty, but neither does that guy and neither do you, or for that matter anyone posting here.
  9. Jon Lester has to be up there as well. I thought he only had a problem with pickoffs at 1st. I thought it was bunts too.
  10. Because he's 7 for 55 with 30 ks? How many times should we send him up there before we realize he can't hit?
  11. I know right. Brutal. slow clap....Rymer, Rymer Last update I saw from May 22cnd, still no timetable on his return. I thought they said when it happened he was going to miss the whole year. Seems like that still holds.
  12. That's exactly what I was thinking. Everything(except the first AB to Turner) on the black and with movement. And some really defensive swings too.
  13. Maybe, he kind of pulled his leg up and tried to tag home with his hand for some reason. It would have been close. He should have been out by a good amount but the throw from Seager was pretty bad.
  14. Davies ERA is 4.29 now. He's been our best pitcher other than Nelson. Can't send him down. He needs to keep progressing at the big league level. He might really be something. I thought he might only be like a 5th starter or at best a bad team's #4. He might end up being a #3 if he keeps this up.
  15. B Machado had a5+ era and is a head case. No thanks. Is this Sal Bando's account?
  16. I don't get all the Broxton love. It's great that we got him for basically nothing, and it would have been even greater the lightbulb turned on for him, but it appears it didn't. He doesn't even appear to have 4th or 5th OF skills at this point. Broxton is 26. Flores is 24. Flores' minor league numbers look superior to Broxton's. Flores at least appears to have the floor of a 4th OF. If he can handle CF defensively he could be a decent option there in a couple of years.
  17. Normally, I hate the "acquire guys so we can flip them" process, because there's an inherent risk for multiple reasons. (poor play, injury). As well as Hill has been playing, I think there's a real chance that Hill can turn into *something* at the trade deadline. I don't imagine he's going to get a huge return, but he could net a low level prospect. David Wright is out 4-6 weeks and his long term prospects for ever being healthy and reliable are dim given the condition his back is in. I don't know what prospects the Mets have, but that's where I would be shopping Hill right now. Forget waiting for the trade deadline.
  18. Why is that surprising? We know he can hit AAA pitching and we're playing the Reds.
  19. Well he got his first hit. Can't take that away from him. Still doesn't look like a major leaguer to me.
  20. I was coaching baseball practice and missed the game. How were his at bats? Matz is pretty tough assignment to return to the bigs against.
  21. And he's doing that in AAA Colorado Spings and not against ML pitching. He's fighting with Walsh for the team lead in UABs (ugly at bats). If something truly has changed with him we need to sign the batting coach in AAA to a long term deal. I know it's a long season and we in rebuild mode and we're looking for any hopeful signs but I think we might be grasping at straws here.
  22. His BB/K at Colorado actually impresses me, would be a decent player if he kept it up in the bigs. I'd preferred 2 walks to every strikeout rather than 2 strikeouts to every walk. What am I missing?
