  1. I can deal with Mench and Turnbow for a solid starting pitcher (even if it is just for one year) just so long as the Brewers keep Capellan
  2. /hindsight of course being 20/20, we sure shoulda picked Homer Bailey! I'm not thrilled with the statement that changing Rogers' mechanics might have contributed to his injury... here's hoping for a strong recovery
  3. I'd be willing to trade Weeks for Peavey though. No chance I'd trade Fielder
  4. Sounds like they will eventually trade Mench and maybe Jenkins, but not until more free agents get signed. Melvin is smart to be patient and wait
  5. Sounds like if the Brewers want to sign free agents like Schmidt, they'll need to overpay. Fortunately, Melvin isn't willing to do that...
  6. Capellan plus Mench for one year of Leiber sounds foolish, to me... with Turnbow shakey, and Cordero with us just one year, I see Capellan as a potential closer of the future
  7. If Boston wants a closer for Manny, how about Cordero plus Hardy plus somebody else? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  8. Jenkins is a youngster by the Giants' standards!
  9. Good point. I'm willing to be patient... Back to the Original topic: I'd be pretty happy if we can get a good solid pitcher for Mench, but I would rather have someone under contract for longer than just '07
  10. {$16,550,000 and counting.} Indeed. For that 16.5 Million I'd prefer one great player over a bunch of depth.
  11. I wouldn't want to lose Capellan and Villanueava for any CF not named Carl Crawford. I see them as being key elements to our future.
  12. I'd be all over trading for Jennings, if possible, and I agree, Jenkins would mash in Coors in a contract year. Jennings is a good hitter for a pitcher, too, with a career BA over .200
  13. If the Brewers really think Bill Hall is an OF, then I'd absolutely trade Hall for Hudson. Sheets-Hudson-Capuano would be one great top of the rotation. If the Brewers realize that Bill Hall at SS is putting up Hall of Fame numbers, no way do I trade Hall, period. But I'd still want Hudson. I'd try to find another way to trade for him. But why would Atlanta want to trade Hudson?
  14. www.realgmbaseball.com/sr..._meetings/ Sounds like they want to go into contract talks with Wells after the Winter Meetings
  15. I'd be thrilled if Vernon Wells became a Brewer but wouldn't it take a bit more than Jenkins and Hardy?
  16. History being a guide, Toronto, Texas, and Oakland are possible trading partners... I still think some form of the Mench to Baltimore trade happens for Lopez
  17. Blanton is a player I'd be thrilled to see the Brewers aquire. I think a combination of Zack Jackson and Corey Hart could get it done, and I would striongly consider doing that, especially if the Brewers are considering putting Hall and/or Braun in the outfield
  18. I'm thinking we might deal with the White Sox again... Miller and Jenkins for Buehrle or Miller and Mench for Freddy Garcia
  19. In this article they mention the White Sox needing an Outfielder with power and say that Joe Crede, center fielder Brian Anderson and veteran pitchers Mark Buehrle and Freddy Garcia, who are on the final years of contracts, could be available for trade. chicagosports.chicagotrib...-headlines I could see Jenkins and Miller for Buerrle or Garcia... granted we'd only get the pitcher for one year though so maybe that might not be our ideal as far as what we can get for Jenkins...
  20. At the end of this article, they mention the White Sox needing a backup Catcher.... I wonder who Miller or Rivera might bring in trade in an off-season where Catchers are at a premium? Perhaps a solid relief pitcher? chicagosports.chicagotrib...-headlines
  21. Finley had monster years in '99 and '00. But this is the '07 season coming up. He had a .714 OPS last year, and .645 the year before that. Craig Counsell has had a better OPS over the last 2 seasons than Finley
  22. Here's a relatively interesting article about Wells www.ottawasun.com/Sports/...0-sun.html
  23. I found it somewhat ironic/interesting that Carl Pavano is the #2 pitcher most similar to Ben Sheets. That says alot either about our perception of Sheets or of Pavano www.baseball-reference.co...&st=career I'd definitely like to see Pavano as a Brewers
  24. I think you are right on. I think we are going to trade 3, 4, or 5 players for one great player. Not sure who but I'm hoping for a great OF
  25. I could see Jenkins, Hardy, Miller and Koskie packaged up for Manny Ramirez.... or Jenkins, Hardy and Miller packaged up for Carl Crawford I think we are going to see a big trade like that coming up... 4 or 5 Brewers packaged up for one star player
