  1. Russ, the 2nd half is a must-sweep.
  2. [ I think he has gone to the same place Bill Hall, Rickie Weeks, and Jeff Suppan have gone. I hope they come back soon. ] Billy Hall is back in full effect.
  3. This thread is crossing the political line...
  4. If Parra has a future, so does Rogers... especially sine Parra was a JuCo guy and Rogers was a high school guy. Mark's got plenty of time on his side.

  6. just a longshot here, but were any of you at Matteo's tonight?... bunch of diehard brewerfans.
  7. [ maybe. It seems fishy to me that they wouldn't throw in a no-trade clause though, especially after Buerhle left so much money on the table. Even mediocre guys like Suppan are able to get no-trade clauses in contracts where they leave no money on the table, so why wouldn't an excellent pitcher who has played his whole career in one place and is leaving at least $40 million (I think he could easily get at least a 6 year/$90 million deal) on the table not be able to get one? ] If they need to go into full rebuilding mode in '08, they would need the flexibility to trade Buehrle.
  8. [ pretty sure quiz had a specialty pitch. ] Doesn't pretty much every pitcher have an "out" pitch though?
  9. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/9/99/Dan_quisenberry_autograph.jpg/200px-Dan_quisenberry_autograph.jpg SUPERSTAR!
  10. [ should he not develop, people will still wait trotting out the myriad of Weekscuses that we currently suffer from. ] I think it's pretty "week" of you to run that out there pre-emptively in an attempt to strengthen your current argument.
  11. No image sigs please...
  12. You're equating people who throw higher than only 90 mph as fireballers.
  13. Weeks has the second most walks on the team, behind Prince... and this includes being on the 15-day DL. He's only striking out in 21.3% of his plate appearances. I disagree with the idea that strikeouts are what's killing Weeks.
  14. [ I don't know why but the Brewer faithful still seem to think he's the next big thing. People, this is his 3rd year. Are we still going to expect the best when the 4th, 5th, or even 6th year come rolling around. I sure think if we can get a better 2B, or a good trade for him I wouldnt hesitate to do so. ] I point to the points made above regarding injuries hampering performance.
  15. link Some great exposure for the site, and a well written synopsis of what we're all about.
  16. [ so Weeks has been mediocre by your estimation Brian? His OPS is .751 for his career. ] Yes. Weeks's performance so far in the majors has been mediocre. That's not the comparison I was making.
  17. [ Phillips didn't just arrive this year, look at 06 ] A .751 OPS? That's really mediocre.
  18. [ Similar slugging for their careers, OBP is the big difference for Weeks, average for Barfield (.273-.252) consider also he played at Petco which is not an HR park, like Miller park. SB's are in Weeks favor, RBI's identical.] So what's Josh's excuse this year for laying an offensive egg in Cleveland? You're comparing a player who's been injury-riddled (Weeks) with a player who's been completely healthy (Barfield). That seems disingenous to me.
  19. Josh Barfield = .624 OPS. That's atrocious. [ Tell me one GM who would trade Barfield or Phillips for Weeks straight up? That is one very short list, they all came up at similar times with similar abilities although Weeks has much more physical prowess than either, and they both have outperformed Weeks. ] To the contrary, I would say every GM would Phillips for Rickie in a heartbeat. I'm not going to name names, but there was someone who insisted we trade Prince Fielder for Zach Duke because of how he was currently pitching. When you stack up talent vs. production, talent usually wins out.
  20. [ And don't mention injuries, please - JJ has overcome that situation just fine, thank you. ] All injuries are certainly not created equally, and it's completely applicable to mention it on this topic.
  21. [ It's funny how obvious KW made it that he only wanted Buehrle signed so he could trade him for more in return. The Brewers even gave Suppan a no-trade clause and he has done much less than Buehrle has in his career. ] The only thing they didn't agree on was the no-trade clause... I think he really did make an attempt to keep Buehrle in Chicago.
  22. Brewers.com - lots of trolls and some immaturity JSOnline - pretty vicious personal attacks and lots of flaming With that said, I've found decent conversations on both sites. You just have to wade through the crap.
  23. - Ride the trolley - Go to In-n-Out burger at Fisherman's Wharf - Go the the Wharf in general at night - Pier 39 - Chinatown is a MUST, esepcially at night - Slanted Door, Vietnamese restaurant
  24. The condescension in this thread is pretty appalling.
