  1. [ why would the Orioles want to trade for a veteran utility infielder? Since they are not contending, Graffy has no value to them. ] It's not uncommon for a player like him to be a throw-in replacement, as in the proposed deal, the O's would be getting two players who they would control for a while.
  2. This is my favorite... possibly NSFW, though.
  3. For some reason, I love the Greg Behrendt show.
  4. [ His OBP is still a little BA driven though, so unless he improves on that I'm not sure I'm ready to proclaim him as a quality leadoff candidate. ] I suppose it depends... Are his hits of the seeing-eye variety, or are they infield hits that he's going to be able to consistently run out?
  5. Someone had reported the Buehrle extension here: forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?t=2200.topic Let's confine keep the Buehrle conversation rolling over there.
  6. Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit amphetamines
  7. "Guard number one is a senior on Klaun's mountain, and aspires to be a research chemist..."
  8. I'm thankful we all have a 3-day break from Brewers games. The higher the stakes are, the more everyone seems to be at each others throat. I haven't seen this bad of a combination of thin skin and talk-down-i-ness since certain posters who are no longer with us were here. Enjoy the HR derby, grab a cold one, and enjoy a few summer days outside.
  9. [ So you're saying it will work alright for my 1 dog (and dirty roomate)? ] It depends on the roommate.
  10. [ that runner is not always meaningless though. In the texas game a player stole second to get into scoring positon. The next batter singled and scored the guy from second to tie the game. Thats not meaningless because the runner never would have scored from first on that hit. ] Yes, in that case it's not really "meaningless". However, in cases where the team us up by 2-3 runs in the bottom of the ninth, it is meaningless because if he scores from 2nd and it matters, he scores from first and it matters.
  11. .340 OBP .... I'm not thrilled with his performance this year so far, but he needs the reps, and I think he'll rebound over the last couple of months.
  12. Holding the runner on puts the 1st baseman in a bad position to field the ball.
  13. With the first baseman not holding the runner on and the pitcher not pitching from the stretch, a throw wouldn't matter.
  14. I've got 4 cats, 2 dogs, 1 rabbit, and a roomba. A roomba works, but here's the disclaimers: - Vacuum thoroughly before you use the roomba for the first time - run the roomba every day It'll do the trick, but you just can't overtax it. Maintenance is really just emptying the bin after each use. It's not too bad once you learn how to do it.
  15. I'd be down with some flag football.
  16. [ The big issue is that the Tribune company would be passing the debt from a player the Cubs wouldn't even have anymore onto the next owner. ] I'm all for politics keeping the Cubs from making their team better.
  17. Maybe we should have "obnoxious sig day" to remind everyone why we don't allow picture sigs.
  18. It's a flash app... you can't right click and save the photo. I took a screen capture and cropped it. enjoy.

  20. [ In limited action w/ the Pirates last year, Youman compiled a 2.91 ERA. 'Small sample size' me all you want, but to make a blanket statement that he stinks seems like spurious logic to me. He?s no Cy Young, but he?s gotten big league hitters out before. ] If his numbers are far, far worse in a larger sample size this year in AAA, which numbers would you use as the basis for your comparison?
  21. [ Pretty good, but not what you'd expect from a guy who had a 23 page thread of praises and hyperboles about him last year ("Can Bill Hall Pitch&quothttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif . He needs to live up to our random and high expectations. Them's the breaks. .911 OPS = pretty good? That puts him at 5th in the majors for all centerfielders for the month. The top 17% percentile is more than pretty good, if you ask me.
  22. Tom looks very engrossed in conversation.
  23. I'm going to go out on a limb and say Perceptor's not going to be in the movie either.
  24. Youman's AAA numbers have been pretty god-awful. There's no reason the Crew shouldn't be able to pound him today.
  25. I'm not going to be available this Thursday... out of town.
