  1. [ My thread was even locked. ] Was it locked because your opinion that Capuano wasn't a good pitcher or was it locked for another reason?
  2. [ If it's not Ned, it's the umpires. ] So he's not getting squeezed? I'm not a big fan of finesse guys for this reason. I don't disagree that Capuano shouldn't be traded if the right deal came along, but I don't think he's pitched as badly as the score indicates... and you also can't deny that the defense hadn't been exactly helping him out.
  3. [ How much more evidence do you need that Capuano needs to spend some time in the bullpen? ] He was getting squeezed pretty badly tonight. Some not-so-stellar defense behind him totally hurt as well. I'm not ready to give up on him yet. But yeah, CV should be in the rotation over another CV. It's time.
  4. [ Is it just me, or does this umpire have a strike zone the size of a walnut. ] Yeah, everyone's getting squeezed. Tough night to be a control pitcher.
  5. [ Because we're better off with the young guys in the pen so their arms don't fall off. ] That's a bit of a straw man argument, isn't it? Who here has said CV needs his innings limited?
  6. I have, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. It's a tiered, stadium seating, place, where everyone sits at long tables which stretch over the entire row. Basically, you sit in swivel/office-type chairs. The food is decent and reasonably priced. The nice thing is that since there's a two item minimum (drink and food, drink and appetizer, whatever) it prices out a lot of the snot-nosed kids who use movie theaters as their social gathering places to talk during the movies and text people on their annoyingly bright cell phones. I'm planning on frequenting it quite a bit.
  7. Yeah, cuz if Al's been sponsoring pages here, someone's totally been skimming on me! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  8. [ Which Sanders would we be getting? ] Didn't we talk about Sanders during an offseason as well?... I think I remember talking about his (or someone else's) bizarre every-other-year-is-great pattern. I'm sure it's just a fluke, but the guy hits righties well, even in his alternating off-years.
  9. Sending him down for a couple weeks isn't giving up on him. What's the damage in letting him get his timing back somewhere else and then recalling him when all is clear?
  10. [ Who was dumb enough to ask him about Linebrink, Zambrano and Rowand? Of course those guys are unavailable. I've noticed this in the past about Melvin. He avoids interviews with anyone who might have a clue as to what he's doing. ] Nobody asked him about it. They just asked him what guys were available... He basically was just reinforcing the idea that most rentals were actually players that other teams needed this year, and the rental market is rather sparse.
  11. [ And that would do him good... how? He's struggling at the plate, we all know that. But just giving up on him and sending him down is not the answer. That would be handing over the job for a month to Graffy and Counsell. And granted, graffy has been hitting well as of late, but we al know that he cannot keep that up. It's not as if once he's in Nashville, his wrist will heal up magically, or he'll find his stroke somehow. That would do no good in my opinion. ] He's stated that it's not his wrist, that it's his timing that's off. I think optioning him until he rakes is a great idea.
  12. What's NOT bugging me is Pancakes and Sausage on a stick. Bad for the waistline, but great for morning morale.
  13. (joined it in progress) - Teams would have to "twist his arm" to get some of the Brewers' 40-man roster players. - Aaron Rowand not available, Zambrano not available, Scott Linebrink not available (most FA's to be are on contending teams) - Recounted time as Rangers GM, having to sell off players - Will call 5-6 teams today, to touch base - Feels confident Capuano and Suppan will bounce back, given their track records. Would be difficult to give up on either of them. - Points to Adrian Gonzalez's slump in relation to Rickie Weeks's slump - Nolan Ryan or Greg Maddux: Nolan Ryan - Talked about having your relievers pitched first and starters pitch to the end (in theory, of course)
  14. http://www.liquid-blue.com/photos/celebrities/images/2005-05-31RickeyHenderson021.jpg Bein' Rickey ain't easy (but it's necessary).
  15. [ next year's closer better be the same one the brewers have this year. Expect several more losses if he's not. ] The difference between the absolute worst closer in the league and Cordero has been 3 blown saves. Is it unreasonable to think that the club could find an option somewhere between the two for something other than the 10M+ a year Cordero will command?
  16. [ Brian, you can have a little cry if you want -- it's the 1990s, men can be sensitive! ] Strong men also cry. Strong men also cry.
  17. [ My sense of humor is sensitive - to funny stuff like this ] Stop making fun of me.
  18. Your best bet is to just call the front office and see what they recommend.
  19. [ Guys have become so sensitive, haven't they? ] That really hurts my feelings.
  20. [ True, but it only increases homers by 5%. ] 5% of a team home run total seems like a huge deal to me...
  21. [ So an owner needs to keep up with any linked stories we provide in case their player is included in an update. ] In addition to reading the link reports, it would also be a good idea for users to put their players' name in a Google News Alerts auto-email llist.
  22. [ Where are the people crying "small sample?" ] SMALL SAMPLE!
  23. [ Those numbers mean nothing. Just like their overall record they will change over the course of the year. Last year they lost the first couple retro games - and badly at that - and people wanted to make something of that. It's called coincidence. ] I'm assuming the thread was meant as something tongue-in-cheek... but it's interesting nonetheless.
  24. Pujols's power problems are hamstring related, not motivation related...
