  1. I totally disagree with this. It's not that TH decided to post that he wasn't going to get in any more pissing matches, it was that he took the low road with a final parting shot ( "I'll stay out of the fray so no one such as Mr. [last name deleted] gets his feelings hurt again. We certainly wouldn't want that." ), and published the name of the person. Really, how much effort does it take to say: "Considering how heated discussions between me and some of the commenters have been, I've decided to no longer interact with posters in the comments section". Posting in a blog is something you can take time to think about before you hit the submit button. Again, I'm appreciative of TH having his blog, as it fills in a lot of gaps in coverage that there used to be, but people in the media need to rise above flame wars.
  2. If you only knew the volume of emails and private messages I've had (both extremely positive and extremely negative) that I've kept to myself. Maybe I'm an anomaly or whatever, but TH reacted about as rash as you can. The only reason for publishing a guy's name like that is out of spite. Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful to have TH's blog, as it provides some extremely useful info at times, but his "people skills" are in need of a serious overhaul.
  3. I think that for such a short-term problem (Braun's day-to-day injury), starting Gamel's or Brantley's arby clock early isn't worth the handful of at-bats that Nix will get. If Brantley played a position that was open, or Gamel's defense dictated that he would be ready to man the hot corner, I could see more of a case for your argument. BTW, You spelled Laynce's Nayme Wroyng. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  4. I think the problem with Percolator is that it sort of caught on as a single and got some radio airplay... Most repetitive hard-house songs are best (and often designed) to be mixed with others, so you don't just have 7 minutes of "it's time for the percolator... it's time for the percolator...it's time for the percolator...it's time for the percolator...it's time for the percolator...it's time for the percolator..." I don't go to raves anymore or anything, but "back in the day" when the track got dropped, even WELL after its creation, the crowd went crazy.
  5. 2 Unlimited - Get Ready for This I bought the Rave til Dawn CD back in 1992, and it was awesome. Then "Ya'll ready for this?!" started getting played in every sports arena in America because of that stupid Jock Jams CD, and I was displeased. And no hating on the , by order of Brewerfan.net decree!
  6. I don't think Fuentes would even make it as far as the Cards...
  7. Honestly, I feel like it's that kind of apathy that just allows things to get worse. I'm not going to get angry about some drunk not paying attention to the game, but when they start flailing and hitting me, or dropping f-bombs around kids, it's time for them to exit.
  8. Rivera was there, but he only just sat in the corner and got on the dance floor for like every 20th song.
  9. I don't tip the garbage man, but I get him a $20 gift card (along with my postman) as a Christmas tip. As far as delivery goes, $3 I think is pretty standard for me. If they charge a lot for delivery, that goes down, if nothing, that goes up. I also tip on takeout, although closer to 10-15%. The host(ess) still has to run back and grab the stuff, and someone needs to box it all up. I guess if I consistently tipped slowly, I'd expect the hair content of my food to vary inversely. People remember good and bad tippers.

  11. I'm not a journalist, but I do like to think I play a role in the Brewers' "scene". Obviously, the rules Tom applies to his blog aren't the ones that I apply to my site, but I just wouldn't feel right about flaming users because I disagreed with them. There were times in the past were I chose NOT to take the high road, and I realized I looked just as dumb as those I had problems with. Take the high road, Tom. I enjoy the blog very much, as I think it's a very useful source of information given it's real-time nature. Maybe just turn off the comments or simply don't read them. It's fine that you show an opinion in your blog posts, just don't get nasty about it.
  12. Jeff Bridges in the upcoming Tron 2
  13. I think this also serves as a bit of a last gasp for Nix. He's always been so promising in AAA and has faltered in the majors. In addition to providing some pop, the club might be auditioning him to see if the Brewers don't make any moves to retain him next year. The reality is that he'll only probably get a handful of at-bats, so I think it'll be a non-issue. As far as Gibbons goes, his versatility doesn't really warrant a 25-man roster spot. Nix can play all 3 OF positions well, whereas Gibbons is an average LFer. If the club expected Braun to be out for an extended period of time, we might have seen Gibbons get the nod.
  14. I actually think the whole thing is quite clever. Regarding the higher prices, I know it's pretty non-standard to print on the shirt tail, so I'm sure that cost extra.

  17. Nix = LH pop off the bench, Branyan = LH pop off the bench. I don't think we can read much more into this than that. We'll see Gwynn in September, I'm sure.
  18. SquirrelMaster, you're in our prayers as well. Hodgkin's Lymphoma seems like it is one of the most curable forms of cancer. Best of luck with everything, I know this kind of thing just dominates your life when you're going through it. We're all with ya!
  19. Since Brewerfan has grown so much over the past few years, we've instituted a "membership by approval" policy for quite some time now. In it, was ask that users write a comprehensive message about their background and why they feel that they can contribute to the site. Some new users have been really good about writing these (all we're looking for is a few sentences), some have been bad, and some have been in-between. We've actually gotten some pretty vile feedback on some of our messages (politely) asking for something a bit more comprehensive... So I guess in theory, we've already weeded out some people who were potential problems. I guess what I'm saying here is that if you're thinking of posting here, please first observe things for at least a good month. Also realize that we're just not rubber-stamping new applicants. We don't want a resume or referrals, just a few sentences that make it clear that you've read the rules of the site, your background as a brewers fan, and how you found out about the site. Really, we'd like to keep adding new users to the site, but not if they're not serious about posting. If you're coming here simply, flame, vent or post one-line messages like "I agree" or "I don't agree", this is probably not the place for you. Even if you don't post here because you're not a fan of how we reun things, I hope that we're able to provide you with stuff that you find interesting to read.
  20. The better the team, the more likely the team is to win the missing games from the win column, I would think...
  21. Per Doug Melvin, ESPN has been notoriously incorrect when it comes to knowing which players made it through waivers. Take it with a grain of salt.
  22. Even if it were legal, why wouldn't the Brewers rehab him with a minor league affiliate?
  23. It might not have been bad to have LoDuca around when rosters expand. Right now we have Corporan, Rottino and JR Hopf to pick form in Nashville.
