  1. Nice avatar, you nerd. And yes, I understand that knowing where that avatar is from makes me a little bit of a nerd, too. If taking a screenshot of an amateur-captured movie teaser that was displayed at ComicCon and leaked to YouTube makes me a nerd, then yes, I'm a nerd.
  2. He's got plus-power, but you're sort of a different hitter when you're a leadoff hitter. That's one of my problems with Rickie... Sometimes, it seems like he's up there trying to take a walk, instead of looking for a good pitch to hit. Walks will come as a by-product of not swinging at junk. I also believe some of his power has been negated that injuries that he's dealt with up to this point. I don't think he's capable of hitting more than Braun or Fielder or anything, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if he was a 30/30 guy at some point.
  3. I've seen them personally at every level in the minors.
  4. Like it or hate it, Yost is a player's manager, and will NEVER throw a player under the bus. It was the same thing with Bobby Cox. I do think that Yost was overly snarky to McCalvy, but saying "We handle it in-house" is the right move, in my opinion.
  5. Brewerfan.net has learned that Brett Lawrie has inked his contract with the Crew. Looking forward to seeing Lawrie play pro-ball in the VERY near future.
  6. Power, speed, athleticism, plate discipline ... He's a legitimate 5-tool player, despite the fact that he's yet to put it together. I truly believe he's the most all-around talented player on the roster, despite the results.
  7. I agree with the idea that post quality has suffered quite a bit since the inception of the site, and it's something that bugs me. The problem is, how do you implement standards on these things? Some responses only really require a few words, and not a dissertation for dissertation's sake. We've tried to guide "serial one-line posters" and users who constantly rag on one particular thing (Yost, Fielder, Suppan, etc...etc) who seem to have an agenda, or at least a huge grudge. By doing this, we've received some backlash about our tactics, so it sort of keeps the mods on-edge with "how far do I go?", because it's far from a black & white issue. I agree somewhat with the post count, but personally, I wear mine like a badge of shame (he has HOW MANY?...sheesh). I'll talk to the crew about getting rid of post counts, all though I do find it helpful from time to time when it comes to how I communicate with a users (for example, veterans: "you should know better", and newbies: "re-read the rules").
  8. POST OF THE WEEK.
  9. Ever had a pretty bad fight with a buudy, and like 45 minutes later, you're best friends again? Not saying is the case, but guys are pretty resilient when it comes to amped up disagreements (except for maybe politics). My guess it that tomorrow there's not even a whiff of dischord. Now, i'm not really buying into this ultimately "helping" the team, but I suppose that's a way to look at it. I actually (buh?) believe Bill Schroeder here where he says the fans and the media make too much of this. I'm sure there's a scuffle behind closed doors at times that we're not privy to.
  10. My guess is that events/highlights are put up by MLB.com, not Brewers staff, since everything's pretty much run by MLB.
  11. I'd like to think that I'm close to moderate. I try very, very hard to keep sex/politics/religion completely off the board, no matter what side the argument lies on. Yeah, I'd say we're _STRICT_, but I don't want people do think that I'm moderating with some sort of political agenda, here.
  12. I think "the sample size is too small to lead me to a conclusion either way" is a perfectly justifiable disagreement that doesn't involve "bashing".

  14. It seems like you're implying that "disagreeing" would equal "bashing".

  16. Sure, Kat. That's what you and your government cronies WANT us to think. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  17. The best part is when the train stops, and then goes backwards, then stops, then goes forward again.
  18. He earned the opportunity last year with a 1.125 OPS in AAA in 2007, and had a .671 OPS in the majors. Maybe there's someone out there who'll give him the chance, but I don't consider him to be exactly "banging on the door", I guess. He's Lyle Mouton to me. I'd love to be proved wrong, as I was one of those who whined when the Brewers gave him up in the Lee deal.
  19. I get stopped by trains there all the time as well. I have to go through that area to get to I-94 to get to work. Whoever planned Waukesha's streets/railroads was on acid.
  20. If I cared about voting for local city officials, I would vote against whatever person made this happen. *grumble*
  21. It's alright NSBB'ers. We deserve your mocking tonight. Our team stunk up the joint something fierce.
  22. I"m not saying Nelson Cruz can't ever put it together, but over the course of time, AAA has been littered with hitters who've had monster seasons at ages where they should be peaking in the majors.
  23. It's all times of the day, and it's recent... like the past couple of weeks.
