Honestly, I hope it means that players should be on notice that they're not entitled to a starting gig on the team if they aren't performing. I'm sure the rest of the club doesn't want to see Billy's lack of production vs. RHP either.

Part of the "let's just win each series" dogma comes from the TV announcing team as well. "Well, you've already won the series... blah, blah, blah". Now, I'm sure that the team isn't just tanking a game because they've won a series, but perhaps 1 time out of 10 it does have some sort of effect... who knows.

Please avoid comments like these, because they come off as very condescending. I also disagree with the original poster's theory, but fight the argument with stats and ideas (as you did in the post below this one) instead of just dismissing it.
