  1. AJAY, Can you dig up that picture of the brewerfan with the paper bag on his head? I'd like to use it as my profile picture on facebook. Oh yeah, Brewers suck. Boo.
  2. Do you have some kind of evidence that is what the Cubs are doing? Whether you want to acknowledge it or not, run differential is a pretty good indicator of talent.
  3. You're right. I'm convinced. 'Runs Scored' and 'Runs Against' have nothing to do with winning baseball games...
  4. I vehemently disagree with that. The Cubs are currently +118 in run differential. The Brewers are only +22. That's a pretty substantial gap.
  5. Doug Melvin has to be considered partially responsible for compiling a roster full of undiciplined, terrible situational hitters, who strike out constantly.
  6. Yikes. The Cubs seem MUCH more composed so far in this series.
  7. Thanks to Rickie's antics tonight, Jeff Suppan was only able to spend one day as the butt of my avatar.
  8. I'm sure Ned will point to some asinine stats like 'runs scored' and reduced errors say Weeks has been a great leadoff hitter with fine defense.
  9. Throwing away routine balls, and making outs on the bases has nothing to do with luck.
  10. The Cubs are a better team than the Brewers. And I'm not basing that solely on tonight's game (although tonight's game made me a little more sure of it). I hope the Brewers can sneak into the playoffs as the wildcard, but I really don't think that will happen. The biggest difference between the Cubs and Brewers is that I don't think the Cubs would have as long of leashes for guys like Weeks, Hall, and Yost. Granted, the Cubs have more money to spend, but still - it wouldn't be expensive to play Branyan and Durham/Counsell, and it wouldn't have been expensive to fire Yost's sorry butt after the Boston series.
  11. I knew Weeks wouldn't get benched. Weeks is pathetic, and Yost is pathetic.
  12. Sweet. I love Branyan. Although, this just makes us wonder more why the hell Hall has been starting against RHP.
  13. You really believe this? I wouldn't be surprised if Weeks stays in the game tonight, and starts and leads off in at least 2 of the next 3 games. It's sad, but Weeks hasn't been held accountable yet (in his 4th season), I don't see why it would start now...
  14. Isn't Durham's problem mostly just poor range? I don't think he would butcher so many routine plays. That's where Weeks kills the team.
  15. Nope. I couldn't do any of the actual coaching of hitting/pitching/fielding, dealing with clubhouse issues, dealing with media, etc. However, I think if I got to sit in a little room where nobody ever saw me, and fill out the lineup cards and make the in-game decisions - I think maybe I could do that well, possibly better than Ned.
  16. What about McClung's ability to strike batters out at a much higher rate?
  17. Looks like their may be some validity outside of the anecdotal evidence. And that one HBP Prince got was probably because the opposing pitcher hates Ryan Braun. Haha.
  18. Isn't that something that should be taken into consideration though? Even if it isn't entirely Suppan's fault, it is what is, and the team should be playing the combination of players that figures to produce the best results. The Brewers have a pretty shaky defense, and Suppan strikes out the least amount of batters (by a pretty wide margin) out of everyone on the active roster. He also has the worst WHIP out of all of the potential starters. I just don't see any way to justify him continuing to be in the rotation at this point - especially with guys like Weeks, Hall, Fielder, and Durham fielding ground balls behind him.
  19. I love seeing Tom Haudricourt stick it to Yost, finally, after all these years. Looks like their strained relationship from the "Badger Blogger" incident may have been what it took to allow TH to start letting it all hang out...
  20. thank you for confirming what I was seeing. I know that others disagreed with me, while I could see it coming. Since he isn't used to the relief role again, I'd say it was the weird situation. Who knows, though? Oh wait, what was I thinking? It's obviously because the Brewers are playing a home game. Thus, the platoon! But wait, it appears as though even with the platoon, McClung still has to pitch at Miller Park - so what is this accomplishing again? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
  21. Looks like pitchleague was right. McClung looks pretty terrible today. I wonder how much it has to do with being thrown into this weird situation...
  22. McClung looking very off today as well. Small sample, I know, but neither pitcher has looked very comfortable or sharp since this fiasco started. Both guys were doing so well. Why, oh why, did Ned have to mess with it?...
