  1. This is about the best pitching the Brewers can throw at someone right now, assuming Yo doesn't show signs of rust. Sheets v Arroyo absolutely favors the Brewers, I'm hopeful that the Crew can get two in this series.
  2. Stone has no credibility with me at all, which is a shame, because I used to really like him. I don't care where he's working, or what someone asks him, all Stone responses should be prefaced with "This answer brought to you by the Chicago Cubs." Hey Steve...the overworked bullpen appears most likely to be Chicago's.
  3. Two lefties in the bullpen makes sense to me, but I like Hernan, he impressed me. Isn't it great to have solid options in the system? A few years back this was the "Land of Opportunity" for six-year free agents and waiver guys, now we actually have usable players to go to if someone gets hurt.
  4. Before the season started, I thought April had a good chance to be the toughest month of the season for the Brewers. Gallardo and Cameron being out is huge, the Brewers have gotten great play from Kapler, but how many teams wouldn't feel the loss of their second-best starter, and their center fielder? The April schedule looked rough from the beginning, with two road series' in Chicago, one in New York, and one in each place vs the Reds. Now that we've gotten a few weeks in, we see that St Louis and Florida are playing well, and there are eight games vs those two teams...with two vs the Phillies mixed in. Apart from playing the Giants at home, where's the soft spot? The Brewers will spend the whole month playing good teams and hot teams - while they are short-handed - and that's before you even mention which players have started well, or not started well. I'm looking for the team to basically survive April, just don't fall off the map, then I expect things to go better for them. They'll get production from Braun and Fielder, everyone knows that, and they'll have the missing pieces back in the lineup too.
  5. Pitchleague - Hart's hit was changed to a double. Looper started last season pitching very well, much like he's doing right now. I guess he's an early season guy.
  6. I think this is an excellent move, because it brings virtually no risk. Either Weaver shows he can still pitch, or they release him - so what? These moves never seem exciting at the time, but sometimes they work out, there's no reason not to give him 4-6 weeks at Nashville to see what's left in his arm.
  7. Neither really, but I will say that I'm glad they've been switched in the lineup now. I expect both guys to be fine, but if I have to pick one, I do wish Braun would relax and take a pitch or two.
  8. There's no way I would have stayed with Mota in the 8th, and yes, there was a great deal of luck. I also don't care...the good guys won.
  9. Saying Kapler has been a big surprise, and that he's really helping this team is one thing. Saying he should get playing time over Braun, Cameron or Hart is just off-base. That's a great starting outfield, very possibly the best in the league.
  10. If I'm remembering the right player, I saw Molldrem in high school, he's from Boscobel. Do I have the right guy?
  11. I agree with Monty, Gross just isn't a center fielder, that doesn't mean he can't play. He's hit a lot of balls hard, but right at someone of late, that will even out. I'd much rather have Gwynn paired with Kapler in center until Cameron is back, but that's not in the cards. I won't be surprised if Ned give Hernan a start out there. Go Gabe the Babe! Santana's a nobody!
  12. Instead of an ace every game, can we have the Giants at home every game?
  13. Lilly got lit up again, he's obviously not right at the moment. I'm not going to kick 'em while they're down, because in baseball, fortunes change constantly over the course of a season, but this does not bode well for the Cubs.
  14. I laughed when the Brewers signed a guy who had quit baseball. When camp opened, I hoped this experiment would end quickly, leaving that bench spot for someone who would help the team. Gabe Kapler beat Johan Santana today with a HR, and has done everything he possibly could have to help this team win games thus far. I was wrong.
  15. I don't think I ever remember the Brewers taking two in NY, but as banged up as the Mets are, it's a great time to try it! I still can't believe Figueroa...I'll stop saying that now.
  16. I agree, I think that mistake taught Gagne something, and I think he'll be fine going forward. Two blown saves will happen, but when it's two of your first three chances in a season, that's going to make some noise.
  17. Perez has been great to start the year, this is the guy to be patient with at the plate, let's see if the guys can handle that.
  18. Yes, Hernan has always had his issues as a baserunner, he has good speed, but lousy instincts. The last two days show why I love baseball - there's no way Figueroa can handle the Brewers, and there's no way the Brewers take Johan deep three times, the way they're swinging the bats right now. He did, and they did...'tis great theatre.
  19. I think Gagne will be fine, as long as he realizes he can't just throw heat past guys like he once did. He's still got the stuff to close, he just has to mix his pitches, which I believe will happen.
  20. It's likely a temporary move, but Hill is in the pen this weekend. When you pair that with Lilly's terrible start to the season, I'm sure this isn't what Cubs fans envisioned. Kind of like the Brewers' bats at the moment.
  21. Who's next? Keith Osik? Keith's running a baseball school on Long Island, so I think we'll at least dodge that one.
  22. Two great pitchers in poor hitting conditions - this could be one of the quickest games of the season.
  23. Someone please delete this thread, and burn the game film.
  24. The Brewers will face Santana and Perez after tomorrow, they need to lay one on Figueroa.
