  1. It's Friday, the weather's great, and the Giants are in town.
  2. Thanks Woogie...in the interests of piling on....the Giants don't deserve a fancy thread, and Bonds is a weenie.
  3. I posted this in a different thread on June 30... Counting the Sunday game with the Cubs, the Brewers have 82 games remaining, 61 vs teams currently under .500, and just 21 games left vs teams currently over .500. Within the division, the Brewers have 4 games left with the Cubs, all on the road (could that actually be an advantage in the series this year?) - they have 9 games left with Houston, 10 with Pittsburgh, 10 with St Louis, and 13 left with the Reds...four teams who are currently a combined 135-184. The next time the Brewers play a road game vs a team currently over .500 is August 20. The Brewers have just 7 road games left with teams currently over .500, three in AZ, and four in Atlanta. Following the All-Star break, 16 of the Brewers' first 24 games are home games (they are currently 30-13 at home). The tough spots in the remaining schedule... Eight straight road games left leading up to the break. Eighteen games in seventeen days coming out of the break (eleven of these are home games). Consecutive home series' with the Mets and Phillies to start August. Three in AZ, August 20-22. Three in Wrigley, August 28-30. Four in Atlanta, September 20-23. Four at home with SD, to close the season. In my opinion, the only thing that will keep the Brewers out of the playoffs, would be the Brewers themselves. It's going to take a catasrophic run of injuries, or a complete collapse to keep them out. Given the depth and talent of the roster, I cannot predict a collapse, so I'm hoping for good health, and enjoying the ride.
  4. I'm sure we'll all notice these things as the race marches on, but there are things that have worked for the Brewers too. How did Milwaukee get two home series' with the Giants? Brandon Webb missed the Brewers, and gets the Cubs today. Everything will seem magnified the rest of the way....this should be great fun.
  5. Soriano LF Theriot SS Fontenot 2B Ramirez 3B Jones CF Pagan RF Moore 1B Kendall C Marquis P Murderer's Row
  6. I ran into Ron Dayne once in Madison, he was high as a kite.
  7. Man Pedro, that Jaha story is just wrong.
  8. I haven't heard from Woogie, I just know I had bad things to say about the Giants, and no thread. I'll happily lock this one later if need be.
  9. I try to have realistic expectations, and I never talk this way, but I can't help it in this situation. The Brewers have been great at home, and the Giants are among the NL's worst....I want all 3!
  10. I don't know what I was thinking these last few days, those Diamondbacks are loaded with talent and ready to explode. Here's to the snakes!
  11. I'm actually glad to see that report, because they got it right and "blamed" the blogger who started the rumor in the first place. Some dork with a blog strings together what he thinks the Reds might take to move Dunn, and it reaches all the way to both GMs, with Griffey and Dunn both being quoted...amazing.
  12. AZ has a lot of sorting to do. Byrnes will most likely walk after this season, and they've got to get Quentin squared away physically, but I do think either Jackson or Tracy may be dealt. They have Reynolds to play 3rd, either Jackson or Tracy can play first, with the other one moving, if they can sort out the OF spots. This winter, I think Milwaukee will go get a LF, and a veteran reliever, either to close, or set up Turnbow for next season.
  13. As much as I'd love to add Nathan, Terry Ryan is one of the great GMs of his time, he'll get what Nathan's worth, and I think that price would freak a lot of us out.
  14. This is not BF.net....www.1530homer.com/pages/lancesBlog.html And neither is this.... www.redszone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60530 Both are linked in the first post of this thread....come on folks, this one was easy....read all the way to the first post and you can find your source.
  15. I didn't hear that report Brian, but anyone could look at the Dunn thread here and see that the rumor came from Cincy. It was reported that way here, and it was reported that way on the Reds fan site too.
  16. This disappoints me, I think Otsuka would have been an excellent pickup. At least it happened before we got him, that would have driven me nuts.
  17. On my drive home from the game today I had WTMJ radio on. They reported this rumor and said Doug Melvin had shot denied ever having discussed this with the Reds. They then went on to say if the Brewers had done it, Doug Melvin would have made "Just about the worst move in the history of General Managers." They went on about Dunn's Ks, and the fact that the Reds view him as lazy and a malcontent.
  18. I was at a game in 1977 (yes, really), I got Sixto Lezcano's autograph before the game, which really put me on cloud nine, he was my first favorite player. After the game, my cousin and I were trying to get more autographs as the players came out in street clothes, this guy came out, my cousin ran over and got him to sign. The player turned toward me and very politely asked me if I wanted an autograph too, I thought for sure it was Sixto, so I said "No, I already got yours." The guy just gave me an extra little look, then walked off. My cousin came over and showed me the autograph he'd just gotten, in very nice penmanship it read "Bill Castro." Sorry Bill.
  19. I was at the game today (major props to Pedro), that thing Gross hit was just destroyed. That's the first ball I've witnessed reaching the third deck in RF.
  20. My son coming into the room with his guitar strapped around his neck, then playing me "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath, which he had just taught himself. Oh, and Pedro hooking me up with Brewers tickets...that is most definitely not bugging me.
  21. I'd welcome a deal for Greinke, but I'd see him strictly as a bullpen arm for the remainder of the season. I can't see him as an upgrade for the rotation at the moment. I would imagine the Royals would want at least one young arm, would people here for Parra for Greinke?
  22. Let's see, Gallardo is twenty-one, and Livan is thirty-two, yeah, that's the ticket.
  23. While I always hate to lose, it's going to happen some nights. I'm very pleased with Capuano's effort, that matters a lot more to me than the final score of this one.
  24. I look forward to meeting you.
