  1. And if Aumont is the pick, remember, it's not my fault . So Patrick, LaPorta was yours? Great job again, still, always.
  2. 39! I forgot we had a secret agent around here. What can you tell us about Gindl...and....can you get 2700 autographs for my friends?
  3. I like the Brewers' pick. I didn't want a HS arm, I did want a power bat, and I did want someone who might be here in 3 years instead of 5. This player would seem to fit my wishes, too bad he's not also left-handed and fast, I guess I forgot to wish for those things.
  4. This could be fun in future years when the Cubs come to town...they drafted LaPorta out of high school.
  5. From Red Sox fans last year, (the Sox had drafted LaPorta in Rd 14). sonsofsamhorn.net/lofiversion/index.php/t6108.html
  6. Matt LaPorta to the Brewers....there's a curveball.
  7. No surprise at #1, David Price to the Devil Rays. That's about the only pick that I think was a sure thing going in.
  8. The draft has just begun, Tampa Bay is on the clock.
  9. I don't see anything good coming from continuing this discussion. Interesting story, but that's enough.
  10. "OOH, I hate that Bob Barker!" -Happy Gilmore
  11. Fingers will be at the Madison Mallards game August 3 as well.
  12. People, when you see a sign that says "right lane closed 1 mile ahead" do not accelerate. A much better approach would be to get your butt out of the right lane, passing a line of stopped cars, then trying to force your way into the front of the line is not only inconsiderate and rude, it's unsafe. Last night I had to swerve to the shoulder to miss a guy, I was not amused.
  13. I think Ryan Braun is a very confident young man, and why shouldn't he be? The talent is obvious, his position in the draft, and subsequent signing bonus spoke volumes, and now his team has plugged him right into the 3-spot in the batting order. I think he's earned it.
  14. I'm pretty sure the adult escort industry would take the cake here if allowed to. Let's just leave that one at "Waun-a-Date."
  15. Hawing, didn't you refer to your mother's residence at the Waun-a-House?
  16. I like that one mikevan. Burnie, I can't believe some locksmith hasn't thought of that one yet.
  17. I live in Waunakee, a nice town near Madison, where it seems everyone has a list of "Waunas." We have the Waun-a-Bowl, the Waun-a-Wash and Waun-a-Taco. Hawing and I have discussed this, it seems there may be no end to the possibilities. One suggestion for a new business might be the "Waun-a-Bet" casino. If you were to start a a business here, what would it be called?
  18. Do we always have to take the pitchers who don't need to shave yet? You have to figure some of these guys have to pay off sooner or later, but this will be 3 times in 4 years. That's way too often for my blood.
  19. But seriously, the last guy the Brewers picked that played Catcher and everywhere else was pretty good and that was BJ Surhoff. Didn't he play C, SS, 3b among other? Yes, Surhoff was playing some SS for the Tarheels, until Walt Weiss arrived on campus, then BJ moved behind the plate. Forget Will Clark, about about Barry Bonds, Barry Larkin and Rafael Palmeiro? The '85 draft turned out to be one of the best ever, I remember all the previews at the time had the Brewers torn between Surhoff and Bobby Witt for the top pick.
  20. OK, just asking, how mad would you have to be to bite off a piece of another man's tongue? TUESDAY, June 5, 2007, 5:43 a.m. By Linda Spice Man bites other man's tongue in fight A 40-year-old man is in police custody today after a fight in which he allegedly bit off a piece of another man's tongue overnight. Milwaukee police were called to the fight in the 3900 block of S. Howell Ave. about 12:05 a.m. today. The victim, 40, was treated at a local hospital. Police had no further details this morning on his condition. The suspect is likely to face a state felony charge of mayhem, according to police. The charge may be applied against someone who had intent to disable or disfigure another person by cutting or mutilating the tongue, eye, ear, nose, lip, limb or other body part, according to Wisconsin state statutes. www.jsonline.com/watch/?watch=1&date=6/5/2007&id=24523
  21. That's a good point Rob, I wonder that same thing at times. Perhaps your thread should be called "What's bugging you NOW?"
  22. I know there are many Jonathan Broxton fans around here, he may get his shot at closing now. Saito left the Dodgers' game with some sort of injury today, but I haven't heard what he hurt or how long he may be out.
  23. Very happy to see JJ hit one out to right, after having started to get some base hits that way. Pitchers finally realized they can't pound fastballs in on his hands, so they adjusted and went away with slow stuff. One or two more into the RF seats will bring them right back into his wheelhouse.
  24. I won a bunch of Brewers tickets, gift certificates, etc, answering baseball trivia questions on my hometown radio station when I was a teenager.
