  1. That's too bad, but I can live with it, since we won the series. Axford is obviously going to have these moments on the mound, and Rickie is going to kick some balls into the great wide open...the team isn't perfect, which we already knew. Hopefully, someone will nail down the 8th inning spot sooner than later.
  2. I think 14-11, missing Hart and Ramirez, after the terrible start, is amazing.
  3. I love the way Carlos plays baseball, even when he was so bad offensively, there's just so much energy, like a big kid in a Brewers uniform.
  4. Wow, did Rickie need that. Aramis is coming back, if Rickie gets going, this offense will really be tough to deal with.
  5. Adam, that's still a long ways off, but if Yuni is still playing well in a month, and Weeks still isn't, I'm quite certain you'll see Yuni get some time at second base after Hart's return. Watching Weeks, both at the plate and in the field, I wonder if he needs to see an optometrist. It's not like no one would have thought of that, but he looks like he can't pick up the ball. If that was just at the plate I'd figure he just "Isn't see the ball well", but it looks the same to me in the field, like he literally isn't seeing the ball well.
  6. I'll call and ask him, so I get the wording right. Basically, the questions are all variations of, "If we draft you, will you sign?", and, "If you sign, how hard will you work to get where we need you to get?" It's stuff like, "What do you expect to get out of pro ball?" I know this sounds insane, but I've had lots of former players tell me how surprised they were when they first got to the minor leagues. There's kids who would do anything for one day in the majors, but there's also guys who assume they'll make it, so the effort isn't there, and there's guys who have decided they can't make it, so they're content to just play out the season where they're at and have some fun. I think every player I've ever met or interviewed has said something along those lines, they all say how every player on the team in high school, college, etc, is trying to win at all times, and then pro ball is full of mixed agendas. The teams don't want to waste a pick on a kid who won't sign, but they'd rather do that than sign a kid who isn't prepared to work hard, all the time, win or lose.
  7. I was a baseball card collector in those years, so when I read his name, I remembered him as a member of the Cincinnati Reds - until you pointed it out, I had forgotten Lesley pitched for the Brewers. He was once a big-time prospect in the Reds' chain, but things didn't pan out for him.
  8. It's insane, but it's true...Yuni replaced Aramis' run production in April. If I have the numbers right, he's at 5 HR, 19 RBI...is that not a month's worth of Aramis? I know, I know, he has one hot streak a year, and we got lucky that it came in April, and he's terrible, and he's evil, and he probably doesn't floss, and this one time, at baseball camp...but the Brewers are also very lucky they had him around this April.
  9. I'll say Dexter Fowler's 8 Home Runs in the first month is the strangest April stat. What do you say?
  10. Rams, I think Nelson is an excellent choice for the top spot. None of the arms that had been ranked ahead of him are doing what he's doing, and there really isn't a bat that has earned that spot at this point.
  11. For those who missed it, Roenicke says Lohse suffered a dislocated pinkie finger, x-rays were negative, it looks like he won't miss any starts. He said they won't know for sure until they see how sore he is tomorrow, but the finger has been put back in place, and Lohse is moving it around with no problems right now. For the moment, it sounds like they dodged a bullet on a weird play.
  12. Braun has now tied Gorman Thomas for 4th in Brewers History, with 208 Home Runs. Next up is Geoff Jenkins, at 212.
  13. Today was a great day, he pitched a complete game, allowing only five runners...in front of a crosschecker for an NL team. I've never been through this before, so I'll leave it at that, but that crosschecker was there specifically to see him today...that can only be a good thing!
  14. Basically, before Lohse completely changed the way he pitches, he pitched like guys who didn't pitch as well has he has pitched since he completely changed the way he pitches. The deal is done, so there's plenty of time for all of us to find out if that holds true, but that's where Lohse is at right now. Dating back to the start of the 2011 season, Lohse has made 66 starts, with the following stats: ERA - 3.09, WHIP - 1.13, HR/9 - 0.77, BB/9 - 1.78, K/9 - 5.73, K/BB 3.21 Do I expect Lohse to do that throughout his deal with the Brewers - no, I don't. I haven't looked it up, but do I believe Suppan or Looper ever had a run like that in their careers? No, I don't. For the rest of Lohse's time with the Brewers, I've decided to refer to him as "Sooper." They signed him, and the draft pick is gone..."Let's Go Soo-per!"
  15. Congrats to Burgos, not so long ago, it looked like this might never happen.
  16. Sorry it look ridiculous to you, it looks equally ridiculous to me when anyone compares Lohse to either guy. I said what I said about Lohse's three starts, because he's looked good, and that happens to be the point we're at right now. In my opinion, neither Suppan nor Looper ever did anything like Lohse's last two seasons before the Brewers signed them. If the Brewers had signed Suppan to a smaller deal, I wouldn't have minded it at the time, but I also wouldn't have expected him to be a big deal, just a spot filler in the rotation. Looper...I never expected a thing out of, that one looked like a desperation move to me when it was done. I don't expect Lohse to ever lead the world in anything while he's a Brewer, I just think he's better than a lot of people think, and I don't think he should be compared to either of the other former Cardinals.
  17. I expect the third year of the deal to be a loss, when you fill holes through free agency, you almost always have dead money on the back end of the deal. If Lohse gets hurt, then he does, since I have no control over that, I'm going to hope for the best, and watch a good pitcher pitch.
  18. We've got about 90 starts left before we'll know for sure, but after the first three, I don't think I want to hear anymore about Suppan and Looper...Lohse can pitch.
  19. For better, and for worse, Carlos may be the most entertaining Brewer I've ever watched.
  20. I wouldn't have done it for two reasons. The first is the off-the-field stuff that's already mentioned in the thread, the second is, I honestly don't think he can pitch any better than some of the other guys at Nashville at this point. As a fan, I hope he does great, and proves me wrong, but I'd have been fine without this move.
  21. Is this something MLB can suspend a player for?
  22. Admit it, you love Yuni.
