  1. Bork..are you going from Muskego to downtown? I was assuming you were going north (toward Menomonee Falls or somewhere up there). If you are going downtown, why would you ever go through the Zoo interchange from Muskego (even without the current headaches)?? Why not just take 894 through the Mitchell Interchange? Of course..I'm not familiar with the current state of the Mitchell interchange. I know there is some construction down there. Is the ramp from East to North closed?
  2. Sorry Casey, I couldn't disagree with you more about good East/West alternatives to and from Downtown, especially if you live as far west as Waukesha or Pewaukee. If there are good alternatives, I would like to know what they are. If they involve Blumound or Greenfield, my experience over the last 20 years of working downtown is that you might as well just stay on the freeway. The only one I have ever used (going West) is 894 to 43, but that takes you pretty far out of the way, especially if you live in Pewaukee or near I94 in Waukesha. At least if you live South of Milwaukee, you can use 794 (depending on how far south you need to go).
  3. Yeah, I tend to agree with this viewpoint a bit more.To me it's the same viewpoint. Don't expect a contract signing ceremony on opening day because the two sides are pretty far apart. Ok..so maybe an offer was not made. They just got together to discuss Fielder's expectations. Maybe as you suggested, as a result of this meeting, the Brewers felt it would be a waste of time to even put together an offer at this point. This would make sense, given Melvin's defensive comments in comparing the Brewer's situation to the Twin's situation.
  4. It won't be completed in a couple of weeks, but I'm going to hazard a guess and say that this bridge is place weeks before the stated Memorial Day date. I'm going to put the over/under somewhere around May 10.
  5. So far (Friday night and this morning) I have not noticed any additional delays east or west bound 94 through the interchange. In fact Friday night, which is usually the worst traffic night of the week, was better than most Friday nights. There were no delays at all this morning. I think a lot of people are seeking out alternate routes as I did not notice a whole lot of cars getting off on 84th street (the detour route). Also, brought this up in the thread on the political board, but I found it really odd how the Milwaukee Journal/Sentinel found it necessary to plaster all over the front page of the paper on Saturday directions on how to get to State Fair park. Why? None of the routes to State Fair are affected by this situation. They are all still the same. Why not post directions on how to get to Southridge Mall while your at it?
  6. I guess Melvin was a guest on XM MLB's "The Show" last week. I did not catch the entire interview, but I heard a "promo" ad on XM this morning where they played a snippet from the interview. In regards to Fielder he said something like "Fielder is not a FA until after the 2011 season, so the Brewers are not in the same situation with Fielder as the Twins were with Mauer". To me, this translates to "Boras and Fielder were not thrilled with our offer"
  7. Yeah...how will this work? Do you have to wait until your renewal comes up? I just renewed mine as well...hate to have to wait a year, while all the better "names" are taken.
  8. Seems like this is only half the story. Yes, Edmonds was added to the roster, but what was he told by management as far as how much playing time they expect him to get?
  9. I didn't want to start a new thread, so I thought this was the best place to put this. I have not seen any threads or thoughts about the June draft. Are there any early indications of who the top picks might be or some of the players that the Brewers might be targeting with their pick?
  10. Well that was kind of what I was saying in regards to Randy Johson. However when you are talking about a 4.40ERA/1.3Whip LHP vs a 4.75/1.35 RHP (these are just random stats) and having a mix in the rotation, just choosing the "better" pitcher may not be so simple. When you are facing predominatley RH lineups and you have no righties to throw at them, you don't ever force them to use their "weaker" lefty hitter in any of the games of a series. Not to mention, you are not giving teams different looks in a 3 or 4 game series. So, performance is not just performance. Perhaps these "better performing" LHPs would not do as well in an all lefty rotation.
  11. I'm guessing the difference is that most hitters are righties. 2 or 3 LHPs in the rotation are good to mix it up during a series, but 4 is too much (unless they are all Randy Johnson type pitchers).
  12. So, I may never understand how any of the waiver wire stuff works, but let's say the Brewers do decide to cut Suppan. My assumption is that he would be DFAed....correct? Or, would he just be put on waivers? If some other team picked him up, what would their obligation be as far as contract? If no teams picked him up, could he then accept a minor league assignment with the Brewers, or decide to become a FA? Is there any of this that could take the Brewers off the hook (at least partially) from a financial stand point?
  13. Really!! I still don't get her at all. It just seems like really bad acting to me. Either that, or her character reminds me of a female Napoleon Dynamite...."Cause I said so......Gosh!"
  14. I use to join the Whitnall men's club every year just so I could be guaranteed a spot in the year end county tournament (I never entered any of the men's clubs events). However, over the last few years I have been so involved in coaching youth baseball, that I don't get to golf nearly as much as I used to and my golf game has suffered (and I have not joined the men's club or entered the county tourney..I also don't have a handicap any more). My hope is once my son is in High School (in 3 years) and I'm out of the youth baseball scene, I'll have more time to golf. Then I'll probably join one of the area men's clubs again and this time I might actually participate in some of the club events.
  15. I saw Brian Anderson at Oregenos in Scottsdale when we were down there early this month.
  16. Great Find! Thanks for sharing.
  17. Hey Matt V., I don't think Melvin picked up the "and that" habit from being in Wisconsin so long.
  18. I think the guy in that video needs to find a video on how to fix holes in the knees of your pants.
  19. That looks pretty neat. I'm thinking about getting it as a gift for my son for his birthday. I also know you can by watches that give all this information as well. edit: My only concern is how long the batteries last if you leave it on. Do you have to make sure you turn it off in order to conserve battery life?
  20. I was under the impression that you could haggle for just about any big ticket item (>$750 or $1,000) at any place. Also, "free" financing is not free. If you don't use their "free" financing, you should always ask for a price break.
  21. I think it's that he's not very good and you can picture yourself being him if you just would have tried harder. Sort of like Craig Counsell. I mean guys like Braun or Prince are just so obviously talented it's hard to identify with them. Sure they had to work hard to get where they are, but the God given talent is hard for a schmuck like me to comprehend. With Eckstein or Counsell, or some guy like that, you can at least delude yourself that if you'd worked harder in Little League and played Legion Ball and didn't go drinking so much in college, well, maybe, with a little luck you could have made it to the majors too. I guess it's part of what Joe Pepsi stated. I'm 5'8"..so I have always rooted for the smaller guys. Part of it is also that everyone seems to hate him. With guys like Carlos Lee and Manny Ramirez who show very little hustle at all...how can you hate a guy because he "hustles too much". Really? Not trying to start a tangent here...already had a discussion about this Eckstein a year or two ago and I know I'm not going to convince anyone to like Eckstein. I will just never understand all the hate. If I want to show my son an example of the right way to play baseball I'm going to point to guys like Eckstein, Counsell, Weeks, or Fielder (I have always like the way Weeks and Fielder run out every ground ball as hard as they can) over a guys like Ramirez or Lee. Yeah, these are two of my favorites also...but I might be biased, since they are on my fantasy team.
  22. Why am I thinking..."Jimmy's going to sing a song now. Jimmy hopes you like it. Jimmy likes to sing"
  23. I'll go with what I know is a very popular choice on this board: David Eckstein. I don't care what anyone says. I love the way he plays the game. I also always liked Scott Rolen..but I'm guessing he might fall in the superstar category. Craig Counsell
  24. www.gemplers.com item no. 167402 Wrangler ripstop khaki's in a unique zip-off design Those look like they are just about exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks!
