  1. There are fans of 18 - 20 teams right now who, as Brewer fans know from experience, have already or are just starting to look forward to next year.
  2. Whatever team offers him an incentive laden deal, better be careful. He's pitched 190+ innings this year which would meet most incetive contracts. The problem is that he can't seem to complete a season and be there when his team needs him the most. If I'm a GM looking to sign him I would tie most of the incentive not only to IP but to him either pitching during the last week of the season or in the playoffs. The problem with incentive laden contracts that are tied to number of ABs or IPs is that it rewards the player who covers up and plays through an injury in order to meet the incentive.
  3. I'm not sure if it's fair to accuse Sheets of faking or overstating an injury as you basically did with your post. Have you ever thrown a 95mph fastball or a 12-6 curveball? Do you know what it takes to do that or what type of physical shape you need to be in? Sheets is a competitor but, unfortunately, he's also injury prone. I doubt that he ever overplayed an injury so that he didn't have to pitch. If he had forearm tightness that made it difficult to pitch effectively (which I think was evident in the 2nd inning), then I would rather have him come out that try to "grit" through it and possibly cost the Brewers a win.
  4. I don't think it really has anything to do with the World Baseball Classic. I think it's just a matter of how the calander works out next year. April 1st is on a Wednesday. They generally like to start the season in April but will push it back to March if it's just one day. Look at all the other years wear April started on Weds - Fri, You'll generally find that they start the season in April, in those cases.
  5. Well, normally the two days after opening day are lighter crowds. So, that might make up for it. However, having tons of the other team's fans at your opening day is never good. The Cubs open at Houston and then come to Milwaukee. What do you think they will be willing to pay for those tickets? It's like the Cubs have two opening days. I also can only get the first three months.
  6. Opening day against the Cubs. Yuck! http://milwaukee.brewers....id=mil&m=4&y=2009
  7. Yeah, I don't ever remember them releasing every team's schedule on one day. However, I don't think it's unusual that they are releasing it before the end of the season. In fact, I have magnetic 2008 Brewers schedule on my refrigerator that I got during the last home stand of last year.
  8. I have a pretty bad temper at times that I'm not very proud of. However, I pretty much never get overly heated over sports. I get frustrated and angry but I keep it at a reasonable level. Now, if it's rush hour and a guy wants to ride in a lane that is ending, then expects to cut in front of me at the last minute.....that's more of a situation where I'm going to loose my cool.
  9. I don't care what Cameron's OBP or OPS is. He is horrible in clutch situations.
  10. See In game thread (Reply #31): Cameron Durham Braun Fielder Hardy Hart Counsel Kendal CC
  11. Why is everyone so down on Kendall? I like him a heck of a lot better than Estrada, Miller, or Moeller. To me, for a catcher that can throw out baserunners with some success and is good at handling a pitching staff (I think Kendall has done a decent job with the starters), any offense they provide is mostly just icing on the cake. There are not a whole lot of good offensive catchers out there.
  12. Is there a typo in the thread title? I looked at reply #123: Not sure where this points to him possibly returning to the rotation? Also, again I'm going to ask, how do you attribute a quote to the person that posted it....example: Hawing wrote: I asked this before, but did not get an answer. Edit: Ok, after rereading, I guess I can see how this can point to him returning to the rotation. I was looking for some sort of statement from the Brewers.
  13. I guess it was a conference call and not a press conference. It's on WTMJ's web site. Have not listened to it yet.
  14. Have been listening to 620. I would assume they would cut to it...but nothing yet.
  15. Sorry if something about this has already been posted, but I thought I heard something about a press conference this morning. Did anyone else hear this and if so, who is giving the press conference? edit: Just heard it again..Ned Yost at 11am
  16. THANK YOU! For some reason, nobody has talked about him in years and he's mentioned on the radio that he'd be interested in the right situation. Seems to have the right attitude about everything. Kevin Kennedy spoke briefly about his relationship with DM yesterday on his XM radio show. He said he was fired once by DM, but it was only because Melvin had to clean house and didn't know Kennedy very well, so he sent him packing. Kennedy didn't have any hard feelings about it and understood the situation at the time. He mentioned that he has gotten to know Doug better in recent years since he has gone into broadcasting. By the way...how do you get quotes to show with the originator of the qoute? example DHonks wrote: .........
  17. I alluded to this in the last post in "Worst night in Brewers History thread?" ..and you thought the Brewers hitters were slumping. Do you think the Astros hitters are a little uptight right now?
  18. Has anyone seen what is happening at Miller Park through 5 2/3 innings today so far?? Wow.

  20. Huh? I can't believe no one else questioned this. Were you just joking? I didn't see this in any of the press releases.
  21. Yes, Henry, Emanuel and Mayer Lehman. I had a feeling this would be bit too topical.
  22. This will probably be an easy one. Who are we? http://images.yuku.com/image/pjpeg/e7035259993c775bf9d995dd1c317cc594b0c11.pjpghttp://images.yuku.com/image/pjpeg/3e01559672f19e15979a858e97d8753fbb61dae.pjpg
  23. Tom Pipines - Fox 6 News. It's bad enough that the Brewers have to get swept vs. Philly, but then I have to listen to this guy refer to the 2007 NL MVP as Jimmy "Collins". C'mon! Your job is a Sports caster. How hard is it to learn some main names from all the Major sports? Does he know anything other than what is fed to him on the teleprompter? I still remember when this guy was on ESPN in the early 80's.
  24. Well, maybe this belongs in the silver lining thread, but no, I don't think this is the worse day in Brewer's history. The season is not over, so it's really no different than the last series of the 82' series when the Brewers needed to just win 1 out of 4 against the Orioles to clinch it and they lost the first 3 games. They were not close games and I think many people thought the sky was falling that point as well. If the Brewers get eliminated from the playoffs at some point in the next two weeks, then the day they get eliminated may be the worse day in Brewer's history. The Cubs playing rained out games at Miller Park does not bother me at all (it might if I wanted Houston to win those games...but I don't) and Zambrano throwing a no hitter there does not effect me any more than if he were to throw a no hitter in Houston, Chicago, San Diego, or where ever. At least it wasn't against the Brewers.
