  1. Actually according to Gord Ash (see post #50) and the Brewer's web site http://milwaukee.brewers....ble_pitchers.jsp?c_id=mil, it appears that Sheets is scheduled to start tomorrow. That was my original argument in post #50. I would rather see Bush go tonight and Sheets go tomorrow (or vice-versa), then have Suppan in the equation at all. You're making the assumption that the Brewers can score four or more runs off of Dempster and the bullpen.
  2. Well Russ, I hope I'm wrong. Especially since I will be at the game tonight. However, nothing that Suppan has done over his last 2 or 3 starts has given me much confidence that he will do any better against what will probably be the Cub's A lineup. How many runs do you think the Brewers will score against Dempster tonight?
  3. Did you see Suppan's last game? First inning: Jerry Hairston Jr.: Strike looking, Ball, Hairston singled to left. Wilkin Castillo: Strike looking, Pickoff attempt, Pickoff attempt, Castillo reached on bunt single to pitcher, Hairston to second. Joey Votto: Votto homered to right, Hairston and Castillo scored. Jolbert Cabrera: Cabrera singled to right. Jay Bruce: Ball, Ball, Strike looking, Pickoff attempt, Ball, Strike swinging, Cabrera stole second, Foul, Bruce homered to right, Cabrera scored. I'm not sure Sveum can act fast enough for something like that. His outing before that was not much better.
  4. The problem is with Suppan, I'm worried it will be 5-0 Cubs (or worse) before the 1st innning is even over and the Brewers have any chance of getting him out of there. He's been just awful lately. If either of those guys can effectively pitch 2 or 3 innings without getting hammered, I'll be happy.
  5. "Pressure" - Billy Joel I remember a local network playing this as a theme song for a special they did during the 82 playoffs and it's always stuck in my mind for big games like this. Another one is "This is it" by Kenny Logins. I remember this being played back in the 80's (?) as an opening to the NCAA basketball finals, but that's more of a playoff or game 7 type song.
  6. Right now, depending on where they are, tix for game #5 at Wrigly on stubhub are listing for anywhere from $150(SRO) to $15,000 (Upperdeck - outfield? I think some guy is just takig a stab in the dark at that one). Generally the upper deck seats are going between $300 - $750 each. Bleachers - about the same, maybe a little more and lower deck between $1,200 and $2,500. http://www.stubhub.com/ch...-vs-tba-10-6-2008-585517/
  7. I'm no weather man (and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night), but looking at the radar, it seems like there will be periods of dry weather in NY today. http://images.yuku.com/image/gif/d1025a499479ff0d93e18fb39e8ea920bd07492.gif
  8. Yeah, but the Brewers have outdrawn the Twins every year for the last 6 or 7 years (except for 2003..I think). Some of these years the Brewers lost close to 100 games while the Twins won their division.
  9. I have heard that too. Someone with more time can look it up, but I am pretty sure they have been sued and or had fraud charges filed against them. After yesterday's experience, none of this would suprise me. It just seemed like a complete racket to me. It was almost like going into a car dealership the way the salesman worked it. When I told him I wanted to check and see if I could use HSA money and that maybe I would come back, he said I could charge it now and then if I find I could use HSA money, he would credit my charge card and take my HSA check. He clearly did not want me walking out without making a purchase (not that that's unusual for a sales person, but this was more of a hard sell). Thanks for all the advise. I ended up going to wall greens and buying some Dr. Shoals inserts for $15. Wearing them now. We'll see how they work. Edit: Interesting thread about the Good Feet Store that i found: http://heelspurs.com/bbs/bbt.cgi?n=105826
  10. I just listened to Gord Ash on XM's "Baseball this morning". He stated that Sheets feels he can pitch on Saturday and that is the Brewers plan, unless something pops up between now and then regarding Sheets elbow. I would be more excited about this if he was pitching tonight in place of Suppan. I'm not sure I prefer a possibly less than 100% Sheets over Bush. I like the way Bush has pitched over the last couple of months.
  11. While I would like to root for Tampa. The fact that they rank 26th in attendance makes it kind of difficult. I don't buy the "year lag" theory either. They have been good all year. I think the fans should have caught on by late June or July that something special was going on there. I have the same issue with the Twins.
  12. Has anyone ever been to this place? I have had this continuing issue with my left foot for the last 4 weeks or so that was aggravated by my decision to go golfing today. I went to the Good Feet Store. It's not really a store, but more of just a giant living room with a bunch of couches. The sales person sits me down and asks me a few questions about my situation. After doing some tests he goes in the back room and comes out with 3 sets of arch supports. He has me try each one of them telling me that initially I should start with the higher arch support and gradually work my way down to the smaller one as the day goes on until I get used to wearing them. While I'm trying them, I can definitely notice a reduction in pain. Finally after all of this, he starts talking about pricing. It's over $700 for all 3 sets!! These are little pieces of curved plastic that probably cost about $1 or $2 to manufacture. I don't have to buy all three sets, but a single set is $250 and it the difference between the 3 sets (in regards to comfort and ease of use) is very different and I can see how you would want to have all three of them. It kind of seems like a scam to me, but I definitely noticed a difference when I wore these things. I believe I could pay for them out of my HSA account, but I'm not sure I want to use HSA money for this. Does anyone have any testimonials regarding the good feet store? No - not you Bill Schroder (spl? - too lazy to look it up).
  13. I can handle a sac bunt late in close game. However, am I wrong, or did Durham attempt to sac bunt last night in the 1st inning? That really bothers me.
  14. That's what I thought as well. If that's the case, then the J/S caption on the bottom of the picture is pretty funny.
  15. I like the caption on this picture. It sure looks like the ball is behind him. However, as I look closer, it appears it might be something that reflecting from the crowd. Like a camera flash or something. http://graphics.jsonline.com/graphics/photographer/28/28451_large.jpg ! Photo/Benny Sieu Prince Fielder watches his walk-off home run.
  16. Are you guys talking about Scott Bartell? I know Scott Bartell! Scott Bartell is ten feet tall, weighs two tons, possesses a variety of superhuman capabilities, and has cheated death on numerous occasions.
  17. Yeah, but I really didn't need to see this picture in the paper this morning: http://images.yuku.com/image/pjpeg/dfa159917ffb9119b686783a7da899f44755182.pjpg
  18. People like to criticize weather forecasters because they tend to only remember times when they are wrong. For the most part (if you really pay attention to a weather forecast and not just look at the graphics they put up...just because they show rain drops on their graphic does not mean that it will rain all day or that the entire viewing area will see rain), I think meteorologists do a fairly good job on predicting something that is not in their control. It seems fairly certain that NY will get some rain at some point Thurs-Sat. Right now it looks like Friday has the highest probability of being a wash out. With some luck they may be able to get the game in on Thursday between rain showers.
  19. If Parra come into this game, I'm not sure I can watch any more. It looked like he was throwing BP the other day. There was absolutley no movement on his pitches and everything seemed up in the zone. I think he hit the wall.
  20. I hate it when I get to a sporting event early. I'm sitting in my seat watching batting practice, warm ups, just enjoying the scenery...whatever and the person in front of me decides he wants to get up and stand for about 10 minutes just looking around aimlessly for no reason at all. It would be odd to ask him to sit down since the game has not started yet. However, at the same time I don't really want to sit and stare at his backside. Don't people have any awareness of their surroundings at all?
  21. I was at that game and I missed the drop because I assumed it was an easy out and reached down to gather up some belongings before I headed out. Then I heard the crowd go crazy and my fellow workers (who I had gone to the game with) screaming "he dropped it!, he dropped it!"
  22. 1st time I played it took me 23 days, 2nd time 10 days
  23. Since the Cubs magic number is 4, I'm assuming that the Cubs will very carefull with Harden today and I would be surprised to see him go more than 5 innings. Hopefully, the Brewers can keep it close until then.
  24. Completely agree. Although I'm always cautious in small towns. My brother lived in Kewauskum for a while and there was always a cop parked in the church parking lot as you entered the town off of Hwy 45. My brother would warned me not to go over 25, because "Barney Fife" would stop me.
