  2. Wow, I can't believe how loose the Brewers are playing, now that they are on the road.
  3. Possibly, however, at the rate the Brewers have been playing, either the Phillies or the Astros could catch the Brewers.Yeah..... that's what I'm trying to say. Yes, I'm sure there would be a ton of outrage on this board if a Cubs home game was moved to the Houston area. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif I think people are letting there hatred of the Cubs get in the way of seeing what a good thing this would be for the Brewers. Both, from a revenue and Wild Card race standpoint.
  4. Why is everyone so upset about this? Hello? People? We are not going to catch the Cubs. No, this would not be fair to Houston. But it would be to the advantage of the Brewers for the Astros to basically have home games taken away from them.
  5. Thanks..that worked! I'm feeling pretty stupid for not thinking of that.
  6. I know just about everyone on this board hates the Cubs. However, it would make much more sense to root against the Astros in this series.
  7. I'm not the type of fan that boos. Not outwardly anyways. Our seats are in the family section. There never seems to be a whole lot of boos coming from our section. Once or Twice a year, my wife is able to snag some tickets from work down in section 112. I sat there Tuesday with my son. It seems to be a different perspective down there. For one, a lot more conversation and chatter about a lot of things that have nothing to do with the game. It was a bit annoying, I felt like no one was paying attention to the game. Maybe it's because we sit in the last row in the family section, so I never have to listen to conversations behind me. The guy behind me kept calling Fielder "Tubby". He sat right behind me and my son and would yell it at him every chance he got. A ground ball to short and as the throw is being made to 1st, I get to hear yelled right behind me.."C'mon Tubby!!" . It was funny the first dozen times or so, but it got real old after the first inning. Then there was a guy in front of me who seemed to thrive on booing and yelling negative things towards the players whenever he could. His favorite thing to do was to find circumstances where he could point out to the Brewer players how much better the Reds are at execution than the Brewers are. For example, a Red's player would lay down a bunt to move a guy over to 2nd and he would yell. "See how it's done Brewers? See how a good team executes?" I was tempted to point out to him the Brewer's record vs. the Red's record, but I didn't. I understand frustration. I've been pretty frustrated with the play lately too. I'm not sure I understand the overly outwards projection of the frustration from some of th fans.
  8. I have Sprint and and LG phone (LX350? - I think). The phone is about 2 or 3 years old if I'm remembering correctly. Over the past couple of days my wife claims she has been trying to call me on my way home from work. I tested out the phone today by calling it from my work number and it won't ring. I have checked everything on the phone and have had others look at it. Everything seems to be set correctly (phone's not on mute or the ringer is not turned off). When I play with the ringer volume setting, the phone rings. However, when I get calls it doesn't. How is this possible? I would think if the ringer is not working, it would not ring at all. Any suggestions? I really do not want to have to get a new phone because of this.
  9. Ok, this is really odd, but I love McDonald's hamburgers. I prefer them over some big juicy thick $8.00 hamburger at a non-chain restaurant or bar. I don't like juice and grease and sauces dripping out of the back of the bun and on my hand as I'm trying to get I'm trying to take a bite of some gargantuan burger. McDonalds burgers are mess free and I prefer the taste over most of the other burgers I have eaten in my life. Seriously, if I had my choice between a juicy burger off the grill and the relatively dry burger of McDonalds. I would take the McDonalds burger. Wow, I feel like I just made a serious confession there.
  10. I have a 46" inch (I think? 47 -maybe?). Again yes, I agree, the picture is much better, but I don't have a need to see every blade of grass and "The Office" is just as funny in standard mode as it is in HD.
  11. Did you post this forcast to illustrate your point about "being much ado about very little"? Not sure what the source of this forecast is, but I'm not sure a simple forecast like this can really capture the nature of what a Hurricane can do. It's kind of like snow storms up hear "Snow heavy at times with gusty winds, accumulations 6-10 inches." Doesn't sound like much, but can be enough to close several businesses and schools. As someone else mentioned, Houston is only 20 miles from Gavelston Bay and the storm surge from this hurricane is expected to be massive. Right now, as a Cat 2, Ike has Tropical Storm winds 275 miles from the center with hurricane force winds 115 miles from the center. In comparison Katrina had wind extentions of 230 and 105 respectively. This storm is likely to cause wide spread flooding and power outages. There are not going to be too many fans, players, umpires, stadium personnel who are going to feel very safe traveling to and from the stadium under these conditions.
  12. I have to agree somewhat. I just purchased an HD LCD tv back in February. The only reason I purchased it was because one of our other TV's stopped working. Up until that time, everyone was telling me I had to have HD, you won't believe the difference. Before I purchased my HD I had been to friends houses that had HD and seen HD telecasts in bars and never really figured out what the big fuss was. Yes, The HD picture is better, but some people act like they don't know what they did before it or like they have trouble watching shows not broadcast in HD. It really does not bother me that much to watch a game or show in standard format. The plot is still the same and the score the game, somehow doesn't change. The thing that bothers me, when watching a game in non-HD, is that I feel like I'm not getting my money's worth for my TV purchase. Other than that, I think the HD thing is overhyped a little.
  13. Really? I didn't know that. I listen to XM Online when I'm outside and always wished that some baseball was available--and now it is. Nice. I have not listened to XM online for awhile now. I decided to go online today and listen to MLB Homplate (175) based on this thread from a couple of weeks ago. I'm not seeing 175 listed as an online option. Edit: Nevermind - It's not listed on their online chanel listing but if you type in 175 in the "quick tune box" it shows up and you can click on it.
  14. Steely Dan - "Aja"
  15. Everyone always talks about 154 games instead of 162. Why is 154 the magic number? Just because that's what the schedule use to be? Why do we need to chop off 8 games in the regular season in order to add 2 to the post season? Unlike others, I don't think the regular season is too long. I can't get enough baseball.
  16. When I'm 64 - Beatles You Might Think - Cars Your My Best Friend - Queen Anyone Else But You - Moldy Peaches So Happy Together - Turtles All I can think of right now.
  17. Ahh yes, I'm sure this is the secret to how the Yankees can afford a $200 mil + payroll. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif A little off topic but....did not not know that the entire bleacher section in Yankee Stadium is Alcohol Free...who knew?
  18. Yeah, 3 hours may not seem like a lot, but when you are not engaged in some sort of physical activity, it's hard to just sit there and not eat or drink anything. It's like going to the movies and having popcorn and soda. It's part of the experience. Would you sit and watch TV for 3 hours and not have anything to drink or eat? I'm guessing that the people who take advantage of the carry in policy the most are the people who attend more games than your average fan. The customer that attends one or two games a year is usually not even aware of the carry in policy or figures that they don't go to that many games anyways, so they can splurge at the games they do attend.
  19. What about peanuts? Imho, peanuts should be allowed to be brought into every MLB park. It's part of baseball. The price they charge for the not very large bag of peanuts in the stadium is crazy..not to mention they are not very good peanuts.
  20. I looked at a few different ball parks. It appears that the Angels and Dodgers have pretty strict policies (no coolers - soft or hard sided - and only water in a store bought bottle of less than 1 liter) compared to the midwestern parks. Antanasio lives in LA and, as I said in a previous post, seems to get ideas from what they do in LA (i.e. - ribbon board).
  21. Anyone have the email address of the appropriate personnel for the Brewers that we could contact and voice our opinions regarding this? I know it's a "rumor" at this point, but I'd rather be proactive instead of reactive.
  22. What's the source? Can you say? We mostly bring beverages in and a few snacks, but we always purchase hot dogs, brats, etc. I would be very disappointed if they make a policy change regarding this. I'm wondering if Mark Antanasio had any input in this. Antanasio has been great for the Brewers in all aspects, however I think he tends to look at what other parks do. I'm not sure what the Angels or Dodgers policies are, but he needs to be aware that Milwaukee has a much different fan base that tends to be a lot more cost conscious than an East or West coast fan. I've always been concerned that the carry in policy would change. Not by the Brewers but by MLB. I was actually surprised that they went back to allowing carry-ins after 9/11. I thought that would put an end to it permanently.
  23. Week didn't hustle?? I missed the play...had to get something upstairs. That's really weird, because I think Weeks usually hustles more than just about anyone on the team. I think it was 2 days ago I saw him hit an easy combacker to the mound and he ran it out like it was a ball hit in the hole. I would never classify him as someone that doesn't hustle.
  24. Actually, no. It was clearly a sarcastic cheer from some Brewer fans, because of the inexplicable 0-2 pitch he decided to make to Delgado yesterday. You could see that they were laughing and yucking it up.
  25. Ha! Had to log in to see what the reaction was to Gagne. Did anyone notice the fans behind the plate give a sarcastic cheer when Gagne threw a pitch in the dirt on the 0-2 pitch to Wright?
