  1. To each their own. A lot of people like to watch NBA basketball. I find it extremely repetitive and boring. I'd much rather watch golf than that.
  2. Link to Hardricourt comments in this morning's JS. Bottom of page (Grapefruit Juice): http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=752160 I have had a couple of emailings with TH in the last week. I already posted his reply to my first email. So, I emailed back stating it seems to be a bit more than a "rumor" and that I was somewhat irratated as to why he wouldn't at least investigate it a little further. I got this reply: So, that flipant reply "irritated" me even more. I wrote an email to the JS publisher and president asking her if this is the way she expects writers to respond to long time Journal/Sentinel subscribers. So, whether it's true or not, I was happy to at least see the JS report something on the situation in this morning's paper. I still think the thoughts as to why the Brewers would "cover up" something like this are far fetched. Edit -multiple quotes fixed
  3. Ok, I know next to nothing about cars. I own a 04' Hyundai Santa Fe, purchased it new. When I first bought it, I was amazed at it's turning radius. I would drop my kid off at day care in the morning and I could do a U-turn in the street without hitting the opposite curb or having to make some sort of Y-Turn procedure. Now, on that same street, I can't do a complete U-turn without having to stop and back up to avoid hitting the curb (Y-turn). By the way, I know it's not a 'legal' move. Please don't respond and tell me that. It's not a busy street. So, what causes a car to have a decrease in it's turning radius?
  4. WOW..I'm stunned. I expected it to me much more for 7 years not 8. I was looking for something around 7 or 8 million per year. And yeah..not on TMJ?..Huh. Are they not the official Brewer network?
  5. Ok, well I'll be the one to find the 'dark cloud'. I'm excited about this and I'm excited about Attanasio's comments regarding getting some pitching. However, this trend of offering these huge contracts to players who are not even arby eligible yet is starting to bug me. Baseball will always be my favorite sport, but I really wish the economics of MLB was structured closer to the NFL.
  6. My order of preference would be ..stay in Phoenix!! Anyways, I know I'm obsessing, but I was so irritated that the Journal/Sentinel has not mentioned any word of this, I sent an email to Hardricourt. I sent him the link to the ball park digest article and a link to this thread stating that I think there would be plenty of people interested in knowing that Brewer officials are actually touring facilities in Florida. This was the response I got (..and you think I was skeptical):
  7. In the last couple of cars I owned, the service engine light came on at some point. I called the dealer and they told me not to worry about it and it was probably that I just did not tighten the gas cap properly. So, each time it happened I adjusted or tightened the gas cap. Soon after, the light went off.
  8. Awesome!! I was wrong, you guys were right. That's all I wanted. Some sort of published report other than "a friend of mine said". Whew...glad that's over. Now I'm ticked at the Journal/Sentinel for not mentioning this at all (unless I missed it, but I get the paper edition every day and usually scour the Brewers news). I don't think it's a small insignificant story. There were obviously many people in this thread who were interested. My family goes every year, so I have a deep interest in this. More and more people every year seem to be making their way down to Spring Training from Milwaukee. So, there are plenty of people that I'm sure would be interested in knowing about this. JS, Hardricourt, whoever, needs to get their act together on this story. If the Brewers are trying to keep low key about this, then that upsets me as well. To me it appears that most other teams are usually upfront with this type of information.
  9. Would it be asking to much to provide a link?
  10. I just used that site as an example, because they are usually pretty up to date on all news concerning spring training. I'm finding it hard to believe, other than the occasional "teams rumored to be looking to be move include Milwaukee, ......." in some stories, there has been no talk from the Brewers, nothing mentioned in the Journal/Sentinel. Nothing anywhere regarding any real evidence that the Brewers are actually looking. The whole "Brewers are being asked to keep mum" seems a little far fetched to me. Wouldn't it be just the opposite? Wouldn't you want it to be known that as many teams as possible are looking at your stadium? Wouldn't that make it look more attractive? Well, I guess this discussion falls under that politically incorrect statement that I have seen that compares arguing on the Internet to the special olympics. Looks like I am in the very small minority (1 - that's about as small as it gets), and I'm not sure people are really completely understanding the argument I'm trying to make. Anyways, until I see some real evidence, I'm not convinced the Brewers are really entertaining any thoughts of moving to FL and it appears I'm obviously not going to convince anyone else they are not. Even if they never do move to FL, I really have no way of proving that they never looked at any place in FL, so it's an unwinable argument on my part.
  11. I'm not doubting that there are rumors that Brewers are looking to move to FL. I'm also not saying that Madtown is making anything up. His friend told him something, he believes it. Fair enough. Sorry, but I don't and for very good reason. Take a look at this site. http://www.springtrainingonline.com/ Pretty much any time a team entertains a thought to move their ST site, it's reported on this site. If a team actually visits a possible new ST site, it would definitely be reported on that site. Why is it that all other teams are open about their thoughts of possibly moving their ST operations? Yet the Brewers for some odd reason want to keep everything hush hush top-secret? Does not make any sense to me. (fixed code --1992)
  12. I guess it's a matter of the definition of outlandish. Without going into too much detail, the company I work for had the Iron Workers as a client back when the stadium was just completed. There were some comments made at one of the meetings by some of the union members regarding the workmanship at Miller Park and the time contraints they were under. One of them mentioned they would never step foot in that place because they thought it was dangerous. At the time I thought this person is sincere in his thoughts and had no reason to lie, but I used some reason and dismissed the comments anyways because: A) People like to tell other people inside news that they are "privilaged" too, even though it may not be entirely accurate B) This person was probably upset about other things (time lines, etc) and was overstating the alleged "dangers" of Miller Park. C) I assume there are rigorous inspections done by the state. There would have to be some conspiracies going on, I don't believe in conspiracies. If I did decide to post it, how would it be any more outlandish than Madtown's claims? I think it's outlandish to believe the media would not know about this or care about it. No, it's not like the first landing on the moon or anything, but I think enough people would interested about this news to post something about it in the paper. Kind of my point.
  13. I know that some media outlets have named the Brewers as being rumored to be moving to Florida, but I have not seen anything in print, outside of this thread that would indicate that they are actually touring possible facilites. If the Brewers were visiting sites in Florida and seriously considering moving to Florida, the local media would know about it and report about it. There would at least be a blub about it in the Sport section. It's not so much about whether the Brewers move to Florida or not. I hope they don't. I'm just wondering what the guildlines are in this Forum to bring up subjects or rumors. It's like last year when someone quoted LaRussa as saying something in September that he would rather lose to the Brewers than have the Cubs win the series. It was no where to be found in the media and the person that started the thread never gave a source. Even if it was a joke, I think any reference to possibly throwing games uttered by a major league manager would garner a lot of media attention. Where do we draw the line. What if I start a thread that 80% of umpires are in the back pockets of the mafia and I state this based on something a friend said to me that had ties to organized crime, or that Miller Park will fall apart in 5 to 10 years because I know some Iron Workers that worked on the stadium and gave me some information about short cuts that were taken. Are we just going to start filling the site with threads based on things our friends and relatives tell us?
  14. Ok, I had to look it up. Not really familiar with that show. Was it an adult humor cartoon? If not, I'm not sure how the 25-40 age group would be familiar with it. It was popular in the mid 90's. So, if you watched it when you were 8, you would be in your low to mid 20's now. Unless your familiar with it because you had kid's that watched it.
  15. Yes, I have that dream as well, especially not knowing my class schedule. The funny part is I have been out of school for about 20 years now and I still have that dream. What does that mean?? The other recurring dream I have is in regards to golf. I have all sorts of trouble hitting the ball off the tee. Sometimes I can't even get a swing at it. The tee box is usually back up against a bush or a wall or some other obstruction so that I can't even get in a full backswing, or the ball keeps falling off the tee or there is some other issue that is keeping me from hitting the ball. I can sense the people around me looking on and getting impatient as I struggle to get the ball off the tee.
  16. So what ever happened with this top secret visit that the Brewers officials had to the park in early may? Why didn't the Sarasota or Milwaukee papers pick up on it and report on it? Oh that's right, it's a secret! How could they have ever have possibly known anything about it?!
  17. Thanks for the info jazzy. Why not!? It's the same information (routing number and account number). Typical government mentality.
  18. Ok, I was assuming I would get my rebate direct deposited this last week sometime since my SS number ends between 20-75. But I did not. My understanding is people who got there tax refund deposited directly to there account will also get their rebate deposited directly to their accounts. However, what if you did not get a Federal tax refund? I guess I was assuming if you owed taxes and you had them taken directly from your checking account (which I did through Tax Cut), that it would be the same as having your tax refund directly deposited because they have all your bank routing and account information. Now, I get the feeling that I'm going to get a physical check sometime in June. Does not seem right since my tax payment was taken directly from my account. Can anyone confirm this? Did you have to get a refund in order to qualify get the rebate electronically deposited..even if your tax payment was electronically deposited?
  19. I'm wondering what the overall attitude is in St. Louis regarding Isringhausen? His stats are not much better than Gagne's (6.6 ERA, 11 svs, 4 Bln Svs), but they are in 1st with a winning record. I'm not a Gagne apologist or anything, but I'm guessing that Izzy is being cut a little more slack by Cards fans because of their situation.
  20. To each his own I guess, but if you do buy that hat are you going to leave the sticker on it? What is up with that? Why do people do that, or leave the tag hanging from the top, I don't understand that. Are you just going to wear it for a short time then take it back? Are you just too lazy to remove it? I often wonder if you go to these peoples houses are the tags still on everything? Is the for sale sign still in front of the house from when they purchsed it? Is there a big orange sale tag on the TV?
  21. When I saw the title to this thread, this was the first comparison I thought of. I always thought Hall looked like Cheadle.
  22. Watching the game and had to chime in. Do you think they boo Gwynn because of his dad and the 84's NLCS and not because of opening day?
  23. My first job out of college was a franchise auditor for a national real estate company. One of the states I spent a lot of time in was IA. That was almost 20 years ago, and I'm not sure if there is still a dog track in Waterloo, but I do remember winning some money there on one of my visits. I know, this doesn't really help you at all, but that's my Waterloo story.

  25. If Braun was not on the Brewers, I would absolutely hate him. I know from threads last year, I'm in the minority when it comes to this line of thought. I hate cockiness in all forms. It's great in movies, but not in real life. I grew up watching guys like Yount, Brett, and Gwynn. Guys that played with class and integrity. ROY or not, you've been in the show for less then a year. You haven't proven anything and you don't know squat. When you hit a home run, you drop the bat, put your head down, and run. If you don't want to do that, then don't act surprised when the next fast ball you see is coming straight at your mid-section. I'm hopeful that this latest slump will maybe teach him a bit of a lesson in humility. These are my unpopular opinions. I'm sure I'll be told that they are wrong. By the way, he's my son's favorite player. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
