  1. The Ryder Cup ticket buying process. Currently in a virtual line that hardly seems to be moving. I'm beginning to think I'm going to get shut out. Possibly the most ridiculous ticket buying experience I have ever experienced.
  2. For those with payments still due on your 2020 Season tix. I just got a call from my ticket rep (after I had sent him an email inquiring about the process). Sounds like they just got access to the credits yesterday afternoon and are in the process of sending out emails asking if you want the credit applied to season tix or just a refund. I told him I'll take the offset to my season tix. He did it while I was on the phone and it was immediately reflected in my "scheduled payments" tab in my "My tickets" account.
  3. Actually, we live in Waukesha and usually try to get there at least once during the dead of Winter. Not so much because we like the food, but more to just gaze out at the field and dream of warmer weather and baseball. It's actually kind of surreal to look out at the empty stadium and field when it's cold, dark, and 10 degrees outside. If we are going with Uekerism's as thoughts to name the restaurant, how about "Get up, get up....get off that wall....caught"?
  4. If you are a season ticket holder, I believe they just credit refunds towards your season tix, unless of course you paid for your entire season tix package up front (instead of a payment plan). I have not seen a refund yet and that is what I'm assuming they will do (that's what they did last year).
  5. Ooh, be careful wntrtxn, that kind of talk is not popular and you will be accused of just being dead wrong for having that opinion and possibly labeled as someone who just wants to take the fun out of everything and hates any type of change.
  6. Wasn't just the Cards that had issues with Acuna, but also his own teammates (not because of of the HR trot, but the long single): https://www.cnn.com/2019/10/04/sport/braves-teammates-call-out-ronald-acuna-jr-for-lack-of-hustle/index.html Yes, the HR pose is fun (I still contend that Reggie Jackson invented it - at least the modern version) and MLB definitely needs to allow that kind of fun in the game to draw younger viewers (and I think they do). However, it seems anyone who get's upset by those types of antics is labeled as as a "Get off my lawn", "holier than thou", baseball purist that doesn't know how to have fun. Sometimes these antics are ill-timed and come across as selfish and more about ego than about helping your team win and being smart about playing the game. Acuna had a great night at he plate, but clearly some of his teammates feel he could use some maturity. He is young, so hopefully that will come and he'll learn when to pose and when to hustle.
  7. CC must want Brauny one more at bat. Late on this, but meant for Cain, not Braun. Cain just made the last out the previous inning.
  8. Not sure why they did not do a double switch when they Pom started the 6th. Put Gamel in Center and flip the pitcher/CF in the order.
  9. I hope that is not a set policy that they employ tonight. If the pitcher's spot comes up in the 2nd inning and Woodruff looked good in the first. Gotta let him bat (he's a decent hitter as well). Maybe even let him go 3 innings if he's pitching well. Same with Suter. I hate to see them get too "cute" with pitchers tonight. Should allow Suter to go more than 2 innings if he's cruising and the it's a close game or the Brewers are up. Obviously, some of that depends on the situation when the pitcher's spot comes up. With runners in scoring position and 1 out or less, then yes, I get pinch hitting for the pitcher. To me it would be ideal if the Brewers don't use any pitchers tonight beyond Woodruff, Suter, Pomeranz, Lyles, and Hader.
  10. Not so much that it was the guys first HR. More the fact that Hauser throws a 0-2 pitch right down the heart of the plate. Seems like Brewer pitchers do that way too often on 0-2 and 1-2 counts
  11. Yes, it was the correct call. Pretty obvious actually.
  12. Certainly makes you now wonder about the nature of that pre-game altercation.
  13. I like your optimism, but I'm sure this would be frowned on by MLB if the Reds start a bunch of minor league scrubs against us next week in that series. Maybe they take those guys out of their starts earlier than they would normally do so, but I'm guessing we see all three of those guys, if it really is their turn in the rotation. Certainly not ideal for us. I almost feel like we might need to go into next week with a game or two lead for one of the WC spots - if we are really going to make this thing happen. I don't think MLB really gets too involved in that stuff. A team does what it wants to do and what they feel is best for the organization and MLB understands that.
  14. Actually the Nats finish the season against the Indians who, at the moment, are not out of playoff contention (they are very much in the wild card race). Skimming through the posts did not really see if this was already pointed out, so forgive me if it was. With the Cubs/Cards playing each other 7 more times in the next 12 games, that means one of those teams will lose at least 4 of their next 12 and likely a few more (Cards remaining schedule is not easy). I feel like if the Brewers can win each of their remaining series against all sub 500 teams, they have an excellent chance of making the playoffs (or even winning the division) without any tie-breaker game. Even if they split the current series and take the other 3, I think they have a decent chance because of the other contenders (Wash, CHC, and StL) beating up on each other. Also, while yeah, the Brewers can't take these sub 500 teams lightly and these teams would like to take part in knocking a team out of the playoffs. The players one these teams are also very tired after playing 150+ games. They are out of the race. Their focus is probably not at 100%. Teams will be leary about having any star players (especially pitchers) getting injured during this last 2 weeks of meaningless games (for them). They will probably give September call ups more of a chance to prove themselves (which I guess could possibly be bad as they will have more to prove than the players that have been on the team all year). Obviously, the schedule is set up well for the Brewers chances right now.
  15. Blues Brothers reference? "There's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sun glasses." "Hit it"
  16. I've been a partial season ticket holder (currently 20 games) since about 1993 (?). If Suter became a starter again next year and they offered an all Suter starts 20 game pack, I think I would consider it. (Of course, the logistics of knowing all of his starts ahead of time would be problematic)
  17. Johnathan Villar hits 6106th MLB HR of the season to break the all time record. .[sarcasm]...unfortunately he was thrown out at home.[/sarcasm]
  18. Just setting us up for this moment:
  19. So, is Hader available tomorrow, or are these games not important enough yet?!?
  20. Maybe I'm reading your post incorrectly, but you seem to have a beef with anyone that collects a pension. Yes, I'm completely aware of the rarity of pension plans (I work for a financial consulting firm and the majority of our clients are retirement plans, including a few pension plans - most of which are "winding down"). My wife has been with the company she currently works with for over 30 years. Like many companies, they discontinued the pension plan for new employees over 10 years ago, but existing employees (including my wife) were grandfathered in. My post was in response to an assumption that it did not matter when a player retired in regards to their pension. That does appear to be correct, but based on the document I linked in post 17, it does matter when players start collecting. The earliest they can start collecting is 45 and the longer they wait, the larger the pension amount (similar to how wife's pension plan works). Anyways, didn't mean to hijack the topic with boring pension plan talk. Was just curious, like others, why Bill Hall waited so long to "officially" retire and was wondering if it had something to do with his pension. That does not appear to be the case.
  21. Really like Complainer by Cold War Kids
  22. When are they eligible to start collecting? Edit: Never mind. Found this. Although it's from 2012. If it's still valid, looks like earliest day to start receiving pension benefits is 1st day of the month following 45th birthday. http://www.mlb.com/mlb/official_info/bhb/eng/mlb-0f0-pension-print.pdf
