  1. If the players are getting 55% of the revenue, I can't believe that they are complaining.
  2. When I was in high school in the late 70's early 80's my dad and I would watch reruns of M*A*S*H every night at 10:30 after the news (I think they were showing reruns while the show was still creating new episodes in prime time) . I did enjoy the show a lot, but I thought it really lost a lot of comedy after Larry Linville (Frank) left, and the last 2 or 3 years of the show were pretty much unwatchable to me. After a while I believe they switched from M*A*S*H reruns to Cheers reruns at 10:30 (I think it was Channel 6 in Milwaukee that showed those reruns).
  3. Always thought Taxi was one of the most underrated shows in Television history. The cast alone: Danny Devito - Still hitting it out of the park as Frank in "It's always Sunny in Philadelphia" Andy Kaufman - Immortal Chistopher Lloyd - How can you not like Doc from "Back to the Future"? Not to mention Doc becoming the inspiration for Rick of "Rick and Morty". Marilu Henner - One of the stars of the always underrated movie "Johnny Dangerously" and don't forget her uncanny ability to remember details from just about every day in her life. Tony Danza - Of course, best known for being the subject of the Elton John hit song "(Hold me closer) Tony Danza" Judd Hirsch - Just as easy to play Seven Degrees of Judd Hirsch as it is to play Seven Degrees of Kevin Bacon Jeff Conaway - Kenickie from Grease Right up there with the cast from "Freaks and Geeks". How are there not more reruns of Taxi on TV (I'm not sure if there are any at all)?
  4. Up until about 3 years ago when our son's spring break schedule changed we use to go to Spring training just about every year. For most games at Maryvale we would sit on the outfield berm (and at other parks that had this option - we basically would just follow the Brewers to wherever they were - home or away). I don't remember the price of these tickets the last time we were there, but it wasn't $25 - $30 as stated in other posts here. If you are willing to just bring a blanket and sit beyond the outfield wall, it's closer to $10.
  5. I remember when they use to have it at Brookfield Square. I remember one of the last times they had it there, there was a huge snow storm. I can't remember if it got canceled because of the storm?
  6. Old people Ha, I know I'm sorry, but some of the memes that are used are cryptic. I just can't tell what is going on there in that picture. Is that kid happy, sad, is there something wrong with the apple (I think that's what that is) he is eating? How does it relate to OldSchoolSnapper being in Hawaii?
  7. I don't understand post #32
  8. Currently, the forecasted high next week Wednesday in Waukesha is minus 11, minus 3 in Milwaukee. About 10 days ago I remember thinking..wow, what a great Winter so far, wouldn't it be something if we got less than 20 inches of snow all Winter and no bitterly cold temperatures. I've lived here all my life, I should know better.
  9. No one should be looking very often at their phone when using maps/directions. Turn up the sound on the phone, or better yet, use bluetooth if you have it in your car and listen to the directions. Yes, you may occasionally need to glance at the phone if you are unclear about the directions that were given or just to be ready ahead of time for the next turn or exit, but there is no need to hold it and stare at it. Put it in a cup holder next to you and only use quick glances as needed at times where you have some space around your car. Speaking of car bluetooth, it also annoys me how many people I see in newer cars that I know must have bluetooth as a standard option, but still choose to use the phone in the traditional way when having a phone conversation while driving.
  10. Rainbow park in West Allis has a hill that is just west of where 116th St. and Theodore Trecker Way meet. That was my childhood sledding hill. However, not sure if it's still "sledable" as they built a fence all the way down the first base line of the baseball diamond that is next to the hill. I don't remember how close the fence is to the base of the hill.
  11. He use to actually work there on occasion.
  12. Many bluetooth devices don't broadcast or receive connection signals all the time. Sometimes you just need to make sure they are both "broadcasting" at the same time (usually during power up they will by default). Try getting your TV ready to find the speaker and activate it's 5 minute search, then power cycle your Sony speakers and see if the TV "sees" the speakers. If that doesn't work, follow the instructions on the Sony to Connect to Sony TV, then activate the TV to search for speakers. If neither of those work, then there is likely a bluetooth incompatibility issue... That's exactly what I initially did several times. No luck.
  13. For me it's: First Wisconsin Building Marquette Warriors Marc Plaza Wow, Marc Plaza, forgot all about that one! I actually worked for "First Wisconsin" when it was still "First Wisconsin", then left about a year before they changed from "Firstar" to "U.S. Bank".
  14. The Red Putter in Door County is awesome. I enjoy mini-golf as well, but my biggest issue is that many times it tests my already low patience level. Not the game itself, but the crowds that are usually at these places in the middle of Summer. I get that patience is needed in mini-golf as its generally just a casual activity and not something to rush through, but where I have a hard time being patient is when the group in front of you is finished and they just continue to stand on the "green" tallying up their scores or just standing there for no reason. Many times it's kids doing this and I get that they may not have the awareness that others are waiting for them, but their parents should certainly be aware.
  15. This is bad, but not sure I can put it in the same category as texting and driving. While it is odd that someone doesn't realize that their light are not on when it's pitch black, I like to think that it's generally not a conscious choice to drive without your lights on in the dark or bad weather, it's just being unaware. People who text/use social media while driving are making a conscious decision to engage in behavior that not only is dangerous to themselves but everyone else on the road. Also, while you may see it multiple times a night (not doubting you...perhaps its just something about where you are driving, but I drive in the dark to and from work every day during the winter...and I rarely see it.), I feel like I notice at least 30% of people looking at their phones while driving when I'm commuting to and from work. It's become common place and almost accepted. That is what really bugs me! We need some sort of MADD movement regarding inattentive driving.
  16. So....they should just stick with Miller because it sounds better, even thought they are getting a better deal from AmFam? You do realize that Miller Brewing is a corporation also, right? I have absolutely no issue with the business decision they are making here.
  17. Thanks for all the advice everyone! The sound bar we got is a Sony soundbar and the quick setup instructions just show how to connect with wires. When you go to the more detailed manual there are instructions for connecting via bluetooth, but the odd thing is it states something like "Connecting via bluetooth to your Sony TV", which made me wonder if it will not connect wirelessly to a non-Sony TV. The TV we have is a Sharp Roku TV. In the settings there is a function to search for devices and speakers. I assumed it was doing this via Bluetooth. It searches for about 5 minutes and can't find the speaker. When I google the situation, I see things that suggest that Roku TVs can only connect to Roku speakers, but its not completely clear if that is true. Now that I look up the TV under connectivity it shows Network Compatibility: Built-in Wi-Fi, Ethernet. So, I'm guessing that may mean it does not have Bluetooth connectivity. Rats.
  18. All the time... The older I get, people making careless decisions that can/will effect me, bothers me more and more. All it takes is one fool on his phone crossing the center line, to end someone else's life. Are people just oblivious to the fact that their inability to control their addictions and impulsive behaviors put others at risk? Geez. I know people here won't believe me when I say this, but I have never, not one single time, texted while driving. I don't trust myself to do so. I do not use my phone while driving, ever. The risk just isn't worth it. It's too bad others don't feel the same. So much selfish behavior out there... Texting (or using social media) while driving is something that I have frequently ranted about on here. Turborickey, I believe you and same for me. Never have done it, never will. Its insane for anyone to think that they have the ability focus on typing/reading something on a small screen (or any screen for that matter) and at the same time safely navigate a 2+ ton hunk of metal down the road or freeway.
  19. Searched for the techno geek thread but could not find it. My wife had award points at work and used them to get a Sony sound bar that we were hoping to hook up wirelessly to our new Sharp-Roku TV. We are not having luck and by doing some searching it appears that Roku TVs can only connect wirelessly to Roku wireless speakers. Is this correct? Sounds like you can also only connect the Sony soundbar wirelessly to a Sony TV. If this is correct then I'll probably move this to the "What's bugging me" thread. Seriously, bluetooth is not just a universal function??
  20. 1995 - Jimmy Key - $4,873,700 2018 - Zack Grienke - $34,000,000 The landscape has changed
  21. So the order of who declines first would possibly effect the buyout? What if the Brewers declined before he declined, would they still have been on the hook? My guess is that it does not matter and the buyout gets paid regardless of who declines. If that is correct, then I don't see a scenario where his option gets picked up. Even if both sides believe that $16M is a good number for him next year, Grandal would only need to get offered $13.5M somewhere else to make the same amount of money in total. As one or two others have mentioned, really just seems like a way to defer $2.5M.
  22. From my experience in life, I find that for some reason, society, in general, is more annoyed with the person who points out another person being oblivious or rude than they are at the person who was actually oblivious or rude. This is why I really enjoy Larry David's brand of humor that puts a spotlight on this behavior. I could see this being a situation in "Curb your enthusiasm". Larry shows up at a party held by someone who did not bother to respond or show up to a gathering that Larry was hosting. Larry brings up the situation to the host at the party and everyone listening to the conversation gets upset with Larry.
  23. If I'm not mistaken, there is a one time $15 issuance fee, then annually there is a $25 fee (they call it a donation), that goes to the SE WI Ballpark district and if you personalize there is an additional $15 annual fee. So, $40 more per year for a personalized Brewer plate ($25 non-personalized).
  24. Interesting how some seem to have some pretty specific numbers regarding baseball revenues. Would you mind posting those financials that you somehow obtained, I'd be curious to see them. Also, [sarcasm]how horrible that an owner would want to make a profit on an investment. What's this world coming too![/sarcasm]
  25. That's awesome! The feeling of relief when I got mine paid off was incredible. I was fortunate enough to get some of mine paid off for working in a low income school, so that helped. I also paid of my credit card debt from college and that felt amazing too. Only debt I have is my house. We paid off our house last year. Talk about an amazing feeling... Paying on something for 25 years, then all of a sudden, NOT paying, is an incredible feeling! We've been increasing our monthly mortgage payment by $100 each year for the last 5 years and will do it one more time next year and then leave it at that. At that pace, based on the amortization schedule I set up, should be paid off sometime around June 2026. A little over 7 years from now. I can not wait for that day! I can not imagine not having a monthly rent or mortgage payment!
