  1. Actually was not that recently. Henry and Holly were replaced by software in 2005. https://www.minnpost.com/sports/2009/03/think-you-have-tough-job-try-putting-together-major-league-baseballs-schedule-and-ple/
  2. I'm surprised at how little they have used Perez so far this year, even as a pinch hitter or pinch runner.
  3. Why does it need to have significance beyond a baseball term? I'm sure someone has GRSLAM, HR, WLKOFF, etc. all kinds of baseball related terms. Don't think about it too hard, just take it as face value. Only other thing it COULD be on top of that is having 4 people in the family, but that's about it. No, as mentioned, could be a reference Molitor as well. If 4 for 4 just means 4 for 4 as in the baseball term, then should have just saved some money and gone with the generic non personalized plate imho.
  4. I have not tried to do any exchanges yet this year, but there is a 48 hour window prior to game time where exchanges can not be done. So, that may be your issues with the current exchange for today's game you are trying to do. Other limitations you may be running into would be that you can not exchange tickets for most weekend games and cubs games (those can not be the tickets you are getting in the exchange). Also, you can only exchange for games that occur after the game you are trying to exchange. So, if you are not trying to do any of these things and are still having issues, then yeah, you probably have to talk to your ticket agent (I would just call and ask for another one if he/she is not responding or getting back to you).
  5. That would be a good one if you were a Cardinal's fan.
  6. Perhaps nothing to do with baseball? Maybe he/she is the 9th of 13 kids in their family? Yes, that's a lot of siblings.....but maybe the fact that it is so rare is why they are putting it on their plates.
  7. Family section is actually 217. Our seats have been there since Miller Park opened. We are in the last row which I think is the best row in that section, but it's all a matter of preference. We are in the middle of the row and can climb in and out of our seats from behind. I hate getting up and down for people coming and going from their seats and hate to bother other people if I need to leave my seat for some reason (rare). Other people may not be as bothered by that and would rather be closer (although the section is only 10 rows deep).
  8. Maybe a family of 4 that are fans of Molitor? Or they don't like Molitor and think he was selfish taking the better deal and leaving ... It is hard to know the underlying meaning without rolling your window down at a stoplight and asking... Interesting take.
  9. Maybe a family of 4 that are fans of Molitor? Wait...are you guys serious? You guys don’t get that plate? Y’all need to look at more box scores, preferably ones where a guy gets four hits...in four ABs.... [sarcasm]Gee, thanks for that bit of knowledge.[/sarcasm] Of course that is part of it, but I would hope that is not all it means. Otherwise it's kind of lame without much thought put into it. I mean why not just use any baseball term then? How about 5 for 5, or HR, or walk, or double, or cycle, or inning? I would think there is more to it than that and there is some double meaning to it (or even triple meaning) . They are using Molitor's number in a well known baseball "phrase"..and possibly there are 4 people in his family as well.
  10. Maybe a family of 4 that are fans of Molitor?
  11. Seriously? It's April Fool's day. The idea is to fool people. He was able to do that to a few people. Not sure its something to get all worked up about.
  12. And you know this, how?? Regardless, he's the owner, he invested in the team, he's supposed to make profits. Largest payroll in Brewers history. Smallest market and they have the 15th highest payroll in MLB (according to roster resource). So, seriously, you are going to complain about the size of their payroll? Only thought in regards to the first two games. It fairly well known that one of Goldschmidt's few weaknesses is that he has a bit of difficulty catching up to fastballs at 95 and above. Peralta doesn't throw that hard, but both Williams and Barnes do. Williams threw 2 off speed pitches in an 8 pitch at bat, one was a ball and one was hit for a HR. Of the 6 fastballs he threw, 2 were balls, one was a swinging strike and 3 were fouled off. Barnes threw 3 cutters in his 6 pitch AB vs. Goldschmidt. 2 were balls and 1 was a HR. Of the 3 fastballs he threw, one was a called strike, 2 were fouled off. Why are our hard throwing pitchers throwing this guy anything but fastballs?? How does the coaching staff not know that he struggles more with hard fastballs than any other pitch? He feeds on off speed and weak fastballs.
  13. Always love listening to 620 on Opening Day morning. Get's me that much more excited about the start of the baseball season. Have not heard it yet, but they usually do a interview with Attanasio and Uecker together which is always entertaining.
  14. Taking the afternoon off and watching at home with my son. Will be at Friday's and Saturday's game. Stopped going to opening day around the age of 26 or 27 when I started to realize that it was amateur day. Not saying everyone that goes is an "amateur", I know many in this forum will be attending. Just saying that there is a large part of the crowd that goes because "It's the place to be" but then end up over imbibing, not having a clue about what is going on in the game, and just being generally obnoxious. Some have a high threshold for tolerating those antics. On a scale to 1-10, my tolerance level is 0 and gets lower as grow older and grumpier.
  15. A lot of this is why I would never go any time after the 1st week of March. Just gets way too crowded for my taste. In regards to the cup holders. That's one of those things that didn't exist for years anywhere and now people can't live without them.
  16. I know this is the optimism thread and I surely am optimistic about the Brewers this year. I do think they had a good off season, but better than last year?? They got Cain and Yelich last year in the off season. Hard to top that! Ha..sorry, I completely misread that. I somehow read it as "offseason" not "offense".

  18. I don't think either of those guys are making it. I assumed this would be the 12 offensive guys on opening day: Cain Yelich Aguilar Braun Moustakas Grandal Arcia Shaw Perez Piña Thames Gamel
  19. I'm picturing something like this? Oddly, I'm also conjuring up the image of Tom Hanks crying "Wilson!" as your alarm clock floats out to sea.
  20. Since the Brewers are playing a non-cactus league team the next two days, not sure how they will count these games in the standings, but currently they are only a half game out of first as they attempt to defend their Cactus League title!
  21. Agree, that would seem to be steep price for 1 year of Wil Smith.
  22. Not sure if I understood this, but I'm assuming you accidentally left out the word "would" (As is "who would that be now..."). As someone mentioned above, possibly someone like Wil Smith. Good numbers and is due less than $5M this year. I don't think the Brewers would have to give up a ton to get him, especially since he is FA eligible next year. But also, not sure what Knebel being injured has to do with who the "Kimbrel light" would be. I'm guessing you feel it's more urgent to sign Kimbrel now that Knebel is injured and the Brewers should do whatever it takes to get Kimbrel and not settle for a "Kimbrel light". I personally would hate to see the Brewers panic and cave to Kimbrel's inflated demands because of Knebel's situation. My hope is that Stearns is smarter than that and is capable of finding a better value elsewhere if Kimbrel is unwilling to be reasonable.
  23. This can also give them some leverage with Kimbrel. If you don't want to take the deal we are offering, we can just work out a trade to get what we are looking for. To which he might say "go ahead, I'll be right here when you decide not to give up prospects instead of money." If Kimbrel doesn't sign with us, he will sign someplace, he knows it. I believe he still has the leverage. Someone always comes calling with talent like that. Hmm, not sure about that. It's March 22nd and he still has not signed with anyone yet. So, clearly teams are not willing to give him what he's asking for. Yes, in all likelihood he will sign with someone eventually, but seems like he's going to have to lower his salary demand to do it. Brewers might decide its a better value to trade a mid level prospect for a "Kimbrel light", than to spend the kind of money he's demanding.
