  1. well, if he signed it, that helps your case. besides that, probably not much else. does it have his number below it or anything? you can also do a DNA testing and use the results as your certificate of authenticity. im only half joking. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  2. I wonder how many of these pics Braun has personally. Or other giant play homeruns. They may consider it just another day at the office, but I'm sure some ballplayers hunt these photos down for themselves for a scrapbook. Better yet, it'd be great to have the chance to walk into Braun's house, and see all these 8x10's of him, signed and framed up and down the steps, hallways, etc.
  3. I wont feel sorry for the Braves, seeing as we lost all our first round picks that we had coming to us.
  4. Did you ever see Jerry Garcia? Or Chris Farley for that matter? Jim Morrison wasn't looking too cut near the end either. Pot didn't kill any of those guys. Oh yeah, CBS took this clip down.
  5. what's that from? that wasn't a giveaway bobble from county, was it?
  6. I'm sure your speaking about Jon. He's a really nice guy that collects only for himself. He's not into getting anything signed but baseball cards and sometimes the Brewers 5x8's. He'll give you a hand getting guys at Autograph Fridays too if you know him (He got a friend of mine a Sabathia ball signed at the Block Party because he only wanted Fielder, who cancelled). He's helped me out before just because he's a nice guy. Sometimes he goes to Autograph Fridays just to get the cards and doesn't care about getting anyone to sign anything. He's kinda an odd duck, but he's no G-Rob, I can tell you that much.
  7. This couldn't have been better timing. I just legally changed my name to Weed Chong McBong. They could have done this without the weed wacker, the silly names, and without the 420 bit. A DARE campaign relating to this is one thing, the carnival side show is almost promoting smoking the happy hay.
  8. they did away with them last year at the final friday game against the cubs. don't know how that will come into effect this year, but yeah, get rid of the alternates, and get rid of the retro jerseys. unless they are the MB jerseys from the mid 90s!!!
  9. From the angle it's taken from, it's hard to tell. The upper leg could very likely be touching the body making things more secure.
  10. To have an asterick is one thing, but if Selig plans to adjust accordingly, all kinds of stats would have to be tinkered with. Besides homeruns, wouldn't that affect pitchers ERA, WHIP, Etc? Michael J Fox could tell you a thing or two about messing with the past, or the future for that matter. Either just put an asterick in front, or don't just leave it alone.
  11. What isn't mentioned is afterwards Cena gave Sabathia enhancement tips.
  12. YAH!!! A Wendy bobble would be the greatest!!!!! I think they figured that Gallardo and Parra would be around for a bit, so they decided to give it to these guys so they don't have to do another Prince, Braun, Weeks, or Hart in 2010. I like the Melvin bobble, and maybe they are crediting this site to the idea of it for all the Melvin love? Ya never know. So what's your predictions for 2010? Gallardo Parra Italian Oglivie FA/Tony Gwynn Jr.
  13. I said this earlier in the thread, but I had two things go right for me at that signing. A)I wanted a Helena Brewers bobble signed, with very little room for a personalization to begin with. B) Right as I walked up there, I introduced myself, told Ryan I'm a huge fan, showed him my tattoo and and told him I collect for myself, am a teacher in Milwaukee with no intention of selling anything. Then I asked him if he still had to personalize it, he was like "for you, we'll let this one slide. thanks for the support" He was very cool about it, and he's been cool the few other times I got his signature. When he first got called up, he signed at Friday's after a game for about 12 people, again signing multiple items during the break, and was really nice about it then as well. Now that I got a ball and bobble signed by him, the only thing I'd want is a jersey. Which if I had to, I'd go to a real signing for. As it would look silly with my name on his jersey. Also, think about all the other items you've gotten for free over the years. I have the entire Brewers team, most guys 2 or 3 times on team stuff or individual items that I didn't pay a dime for. Robin Yount, Don Sutton, Pedro Martinez, Willie Stargell, Bob Uecker, Fergie Jenkins, Robin Roberts, Gaylord Perry, Harmon Killebrew, Bob Feller, etc...all sweetspotted, all free. So really, for me to pay a guy's signature on rare occassion, I'm not gonna complain.
  14. BOTH! That's the alternate!!! I expected a Sausage and Suppan bobble. I love the Melvin bobble. The Hoffman bobble is no surprise. I can get behind the Braun bobble to an extent, Kendall is whatever for me. The Cameron woulda been great if there was a pre-game tucked and a post-game untucked, but manufacturing woulda been a lot more I'm sure since it's a different mold. Being a collector, I like the alternate jerseys, at the same time, I think they should do away with them. I added up all the giveaways including alternates yesterday, and I have something like 90 different Brewers SGAs which don't include the super-minis (which I've decided I'm gonna try to get my missing 8 or 9 some point soon, see ya later money) I'd rather if they do the alternate jerseys, take out a few players a year or as said, they should bring in a retired player. We still haven't seen the following in normal size who I feel are more worthy than Kendall or Suppan: George Scott Sixto Lezcano Pete Vukavich Ben Oglivie Don Money Teddy Higuera Juan Nieves Dan Pleasac Rob Deer BJ Surhoff Greg Vaughn Jeff Cirillo (That would be the best alternate) I'm not trying to complain, as it's a great free giveaway. They're gonna sell out a lot of games anyway because of the product on the the field. In the past, bigger bobble years may have been the best route to sell tickets, now I think the tickets sell themselves, with or without a bad economy. We probably won't hit 3,000,000 but 2,750,000 shouldn't be out of reach.
  15. The bat is probably in range. I haven't been on the hunt for an Escobar ball, but I'd put it a bit lower for the time being. Probably closer to 30. Again, I could be wrong, as I don't know how much he signs and whatever. I find it hard to give too much value for a guy that hasn't done anything in the bigs, yet. In a few years it might be worth closer to that 50 mark. Again, that's just my opinion.
  16. a few years ago, you could get wes helms and damian miller for pretty cheap, now they're just hard to find. I got the cappy bobblehead, and saw that going for some insane price a few years back. Bill Hall will be the hard one, and don't let me forget the sausages. Guh. Someday I'll probably just go for it. Especially since I haven't been goin too hard for signed balls lately.
  17. pm sent. looks like a great wall of fame you got goin!
  18. That's the one I was talking about a few weeks ago.
  19. Sounds like a great idea. I'll try to get a few other buddies to come with, though they aren't big on the BF.net scene, they love talking baseball! Right now I'm about 80% in +1 or 2. I'll give you a final notice in a few weeks.
  20. Fingers played for the A's, Brewers, and Padres. A's and Brewers retired his numbers. What happened with Aaron and his number being retired in Milwaukee was more of a tribute to what he did for the city, and because he played in a Brewers uni, it worked out. If Spahn or Mathews played in a Brewers uniform only a season, or a half of season in the twilight of their career, the same case could have been stated. It doesn't bother me that they aren't retired by the Brewers, but I think that's the purpose of the Milwaukee Braves tribute at Miller Park.
  21. Is that the big head bobble from 2007? Last year they had a set of 4, and I think a set of 4 the year before. Couldn't tell you how much it's been goin for though, as I only pay attention to the SGA bobbles. Side note: Got a Braun Retro for 33 even off ebay. The seller lives in my zipcode, so I'm hoping I can just pick it up. It would be silly to mail it for just a few blocks. Collection currently complete. Until I decide if I want to go after the mini's. Then it's a whole new can of worms.
  22. This is what I found, don't know if this includes the crowd as well, or just the stage crew, or if you do crew, then watch, then do crew again? How about ON THE FIELD at Raymond James Stadium for the Super Bowl XLIII Pregame and Halftime shows?? We are looking for approximately 600 men and women to be a part of our Pregame and Halftime Stage Crews for the massive production. The crews will assist in moving on to the field and assembling the modular rolling units that make up the stages and lighting rigs for the show. No previous staging experience or special skills are necessary. Just the desire to be a part of Super Bowl and Tampa HISTORY! Also, Springsteen rocked. My friend who's a big Boss fan was going nuts, it was a pretty enjoyable time. The little schtick Steve and Bruce had about goin into overtime, I bought it. I thought they'd close with Dancing In The Dark. Great time.
  23. what did that rex guy sell? did he sell it at a shop or at shows or what?
  24. a friend of mine works at pizza shuttle and brought a buncha wings, was pretty good. the cheese dip went over well...it's hard to just sit there and eat dip after dip...i mostly ended up eating wings and the pizza from shuttle....i plan on turning the leftover cheese dip into some kinda soup concoction with veggie stock or something good superbowl, i wanted the cardinals bad, but i'm also a rothelisbrger (spelling?) fan, so it was nice to see a good game. for what it's worth i'm 4 time champ in the pre-game super tecmo bow bowl, cardinals 25-steelers 7. the cardinals playbook is awful!!!
  25. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnny_Bassler Any idea how old it is? Bassler played till 1927, It's hard to say maybe 25-50? Because it's so old it could easily be worth more. Got a picture, that would help I'm sure, but I honestly don't know if I'm even in ballpark range with something like that.
