  1. Here is the Wiemer bomb
  2. Avi García is out of the lineup today after exiting yesterday with back/hamstring tightness. He’s just generally sore, Craig Counsell said, and required a short break.
  3. Lauer has a 1.2 BWAR and an ERA plus of 122 this season. Davies has a .4 WAR an ERA plus of 86......for the bargain price of 8.6 million. Last season Davies WAR was 1.6....so it's possible that Lauer could end up with a similar season in 2021 to Davies in 2020
  4. I believe the 100 innings thing is they didn't sign him to be a full time every 5th day starter........he's a fringe guy who they thought could be of value in a limited role. Which is really what he is....so we should all be glad he isn't pitching more......our other options..with possible exception of Houser..are all better.
  5. And let’s not forget to mention that if Davies was still with us (if we hadn’t made the trade) he would be making 8.6 million this season as opposed to Lauers 560,000. Brewers clearly viewed Davies as someone they didn’t want to ride through the arbitration process…..and found a way to get a comparable replacement for a fraction of the cost. Davies was obviously much better last season playing in a great pitchers park( his FIP last season was over a run higher then his era)……Lauer has outperformed him in 2021.
  6. Ok…..good road trip……hate to waste the Lauer start but Devin is human…..just a bad day
  7. Devin was going to give up a run eventually……just didn’t have the command today
  8. That’s really nice work from Lauer after a tough first inning. Hope that ankle is ok…..we don’t need another injury
  9. For those with access to,the Athletic Andy Haines and Cruz apparently deserve some credit for Adames turn around https://theathletic.com/2805662/2021/09/02/brewers-fix-a-few-bad-habits-in-willy-adames-swing-and-now-hes-back-at-peak-form-i-felt-more-powerful/
  10. And if Urias continues to hit at this level or above he will have value if you want to move him in 2 or 3 years as a guy who can play 3 positions……if that is what they decide to do. The future is always uncertain Versatility is a plus not a minus…….if he gets 400-500 at bats a season who cares if it’s as the starter at short, 2nd or 3rd? Have we learned nothing about the Brewers philosophy on roster building after all these years?
  11. My guess is they also will need coverage for Peralta tomorrow……….can’t see them letting him go more then 80 pitches and it might be less. McCalvy Freddy Peralta said he’s good to go tomorrow, when the Brewers are expected to activate Peralta (shoulder) and Eduardo Escobar (hamstring) from the IL vs. Cards. Freddy threw two ‘pens while down, one 25-30p and another 50-60. So, that gives you an idea of his pitch count.
  12. Yeah there really is no reason to include Hiura.......Ashby will almost certainly be on the roster IMO.
  13. Darrien Miller with a big night
  14. Friday it will be according to CC
  15. From McCalvy Manny Piña strained his oblique in BP here on Monday. They treated it for a few days hoping to avoid the IL, but when he still felt it today the Brewers decided it was too risky to proceed with one healthy catcher. Piña is confident it will be a minimum IL stint.
