  1. I can't even imagine how mad I would get as a manager when my pitchers would nibble themselves into trouble against patient hitters and then not be able to throw it over the plate when they absolutely had to. The sad part is this is pretty much the kind of pitching performance I expect out of Soup and Julio.
  2. I'm more concerned that Melvin thinks our pitching staff is ok because we gave up the 2nd fewest runs in spring training......... Suppan's below average stuff and bad control is a nasty combination but if I had his arm I would probably be afraid to throw it over the plate too.
  3. "Unless theres something like a significant loss of velocity Suppan might as well pitch. " I think the only way Soup could have a significant drop in velocity is if he starts throwing it underhand so I guess he will be pitching..................
  4. We could have come close to 3 years 69 million but the Yankees gave him much much more. They gave him the option of earning 92 million more no matter what his health or performance is over the next 3 years or opting out if he is still at the top of his game and he feels like leaving. His choice not the Yankees. He gets a ton of money, flexibility, AND security. CC got a sweet deal. Congrats to him.
  5. I have a source that told me how it all went down.......... CC: I really don't want to play in New York Mr. Cashman. Cashman: Ok I get that C.C. but what would it take to get you to play here anyway? CC: hmmm....I don't know......I guess if you went to 7 years and oh.....160 million.......I know that seems a little high but...... Cashman: Done.....Welcome to the Yankees! CC: Its always been my dream to wear pinestripes Brian............
  6. He just said "The Brewers know Escobar will hit but they are not sure if he is ready defensively".................
  7. Reynolds is going to be part of the team there. Hope Trenni doesn't have any problems with him.............
  8. Not sure if this was posted or not but Brian says he is now signed through 2013. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/a...c_id=mil&partnerId=rss_mi
  9. So your defintion of "lowballing" is any offer that he wouldn't take? Look at it another way. If he takes the offer, without even considering what other teams might offer, isn't it likely that you overpaid and by alot? I guess I just don't consider this "lowballing" him. I consider it a good faith first step in the negotiation process. If CC wants to play here he will come back with another proposal and Melvin and company will have to decide if we are in the ball park or just wasting time.
  10. "Am I way off? Am I breaking Negotiations 101 rules? " In a word..yes. Nobody takes the first offer so you have to start somewhere. If teams just made their best offer right from the start players wouldn't need agents.
  11. Maddox might not be staying after all....... http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/brewers.html
  12. Looks like Macha is going to be the man....... http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/brewers.html
  13. Who is worse at first...Prince or Howard? They both look really bad but from the naked eye Howard appears to have better range.
  14. Career OPS Ellsbury .759 Braun .938 No way Ellsbury is more valuable then Braun even if he is a centerfielder and bats lead off.
  15. "I'm not ruling Dale out at this point. Right now, Dale is the manager. I told him I'd like to let him know by the end of the week. I don't know if I'll be able to do that, but I don't want it to go too long." If I were DS this wouldn't make me rest any easier about my future with the club..............

  17. Not a surprise. I think as TH says this pretty much tells us that Melvin will sign an extension and be back. http://blogs.jsonline.com/brewers/default.aspx
  18. Players cannot have ownership according to MLB rules. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3033203
  19. No way we pay him 90 million over 3 years. As much as we would all like to keep him the brewers can not afford to tie up 33-40% of payroll in a pitcher who only plays every 5th game. Good teams have a bunch of good players not one star and a bunch of rookies/role players.
  20. Or maybe Sveum doesn't end small talk............. http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=802842
  21. Braun will never play 3rd again. He is the face of the franchise, was horrible at 3rd and hated playing it. He moved when the team asked him and was happy to do it. No way they ever move him back.
  22. Not a surprise. http://blogs.jsonline.com/brewers/default.aspx
  23. well its been a fun season...............
  24. Absolutely inexcusable for Hart to swing at the first pitch. They guy is all over the place and you let him off the hook like that? wow
  25. Does anyone know if Gallardo can be on the playoff roster? I'm thinking no but I know there are some exceptions to the Sept. 1 rule.
