  1. That line is almost impossible to imagine today. 98 pitches in 9 innings with 9 hits and 6 strikeouts = 2.7 pitchers per hitter.
  2. I think it’s probably much more simple than this. He’s not done well late in games. They had leverage bullpen arms that have been incredibly affective available and going into an off day. He had just given up a HR in the 6th. Pulling him after a good outing and a confidence builder and turning the ball over to your best bullpen arms for the last 3 to secure a victory is pretty much a no brainer. It didn’t work, but it’s hard to argue with the process. It’s hard to fathom how much people on here would’ve been killing Murph is he left Sproat in and that blow up inning happened to him rather than Patrick. People have been calling for Sproat’s head, and are now questioning why he wasn’t sent back out for the 7th. Patrick, Ashby, Uribe, Megill all were better options - sometimes the right decision doesn’t work.
  3. Very hard to see where Sal fits into this roster, short term or long term. His actual numbers have caught up with his peripherals this year, in a bad yet expected way. With Chourio and Lara locked up long term, Mitchell clearly being more talented, and Bauers/Vaughn both raking, there simply is no role for him. His roster spot is much better served by a RH hitter, which they have in Lockridge. He’s a 5th OF on the wrong side of the brewers platoon strength, and not better defensively than the guys he’s competing for innings with. Ideally be very surprised if he’s not a part of trade talks soon. Not that he has a ton of value, but someone will be willing to have him come back as a cost controlled part of a minor deal.
  4. Crow can go tomorrow too. Basically need 7-8 between the two of them.
  5. You kind of just ran to where it looked like it was heading off the bat and hoped be close enough to not give up a triple. It was a truly miserable game.
  6. I once plaid a baseball game in such dense fog, not a single fly ball was caught. This game might have surpassed that as the dumbest baseball game ever. A win is a win.
  7. Only guy I’ve disliked more in the last decade has to be Winker.
  8. Hit him for Rengifo and move Vaughn to 3B. Not a great option, but Rengifo is so awful at everything right now that it might’ve been worth a dice roll.
  9. Not possible to have much of a worse AB than Mitchell just did. Not exactly murderers row behind him to bail him out.
  10. Definition of a contract paying you for what you’ve done, not what you will do. Brewers usually stay away from that, got a bit too sentimental with Woody.
  11. The unfortunate circumstance is that there’s currently no ability to send him down or to the bullpen to figure things out. The roster health is really putting everyone in a tough spot with Sproat.
  12. He has exactly (1) quality start and (1) other start that reached 4 innings with less than 3 runs. Not many games where he’s effective to see that promise. Hes got a live arm, to be sure. So does almost every pitcher these days.
  13. Anyone else remember Rock talking about Manny Parra’s AAA no hitter every start he had for like 4 years, constantly saying he has “no hit stuff”? Some guys stuff just doesn’t ever materialize. It’s obviously early for Sproat, but the lack of progress is getting concerning.
  14. That was some 0-2 pitch from Sproat. Hopefully health arrives soon, and he’s got a ticket for Nashville or the bullpen.
  15. Exactly. If anyone said before the season started that on June 1 Sanchez would have a 113 OPS+, .2 WAR, and 5 HR - you’d take that all day. On pace for a 15 HR season as a backup C/DH/PH. He’s going to be streaky, but it’s probably better than Quero being wasted as a backup C. He’d have half the ABs because he’s not a DH candidate. No sense in having Quero up to start once a week (maximum). Gary is fine, and is producing exactly what they probably hoped to get out of him.
  16. I don’t think that breaking in two rookies at the same time is a good call in the middle of a pennant race. Personally, I would stagger it.
  17. There’s a lot of speculation in here about Jett coming up to play 3B after the Super 2 deadline, but it feels like Pratt coming up makes so much more sense. Full season: Pratt .246/.362/.391 vs Jett .230/.350/.368 Last 28 days: Pratt .267/.376/.465 vs Jett .222/.354/.395 Pratt is better defensively, and can platoon Joey and Hamilton at 3B. Probably a better overall defensive situation. Pratt is already on the 40 man, no need to start Jett’s clock. Can always bring Jett up later as well. Don’t need the extra OF versatility, have Chourio, Bauers, Mitchell, and Frelick that will still get the lions share of ABs (Lara is a different conversation, but Jett isn’t taking many ABs from that group). What am I missing here? Seems like Pratt should be up any day.
  18. Yeli on the bases looks like such an athlete. Yeli in the outfield absolutely lumbers after balls. It’s a hilarious juxtaposition.
  19. Except it only looks like he swings hard. One of the worst bat speeds in all of MLB. His max effort simply isn’t good enough to produce results. 2025 was the outlier season for Sal.
  20. It feels like there are some balls that Mitchell is no longer going 100% for to try to prevent injury. Those 10-30% type catch probability plays. I have no data to back this up, but in watching him, it seems he’s much less likely to put his body on the line for those balls. That would be great if he was still OPSing in the .800 range, but at .650, he needs to be a ++ defender to be an every day player. Something’s gotta give with Mitchell, and soon. K rate keeps climbing, walk rate keeps falling, and defense isn’t making up for any of the short comings at the plate. I agree with giving him a long leash because there’s just so much upside, but the trend can only continue for so long until they have to severely limit his playing time or consider a demotion.
  21. At what point does Mitchell’s K rate become too high to keep playing every day? His BABIP is coming back down to earth, walks becoming less frequent, and keeps striking out. Have to wonder how long his leash is.
