  1. Hitting foul balls
  2. My first thought was that you were asking for a city between Green Bay and Oshkosh
  3. Fangraphs made what I think is a great point that Gallardo's numbers have been regressing even though he's had Lucroy behind the plate. Lucroy's framing has generated many extra strikes for Gallardo that he won't have in Texas. I wouldn't be shocked if Nelson or even Jungmann's numbers improve with a full year of pitching to Lucroy and are comparable to or even better than Gallardo's were.
  4. Mark Reynolds career vs LHP: .238/.359/.475 Juan Francisco career vs RHP: .252/.312/.464 Seems like an okay platoon on the cheap. I would imagine the Brewers will start the season with this platoon and Morris in AAA. If Morris is successful, they can call him up midseason.
  5. I remember a time when folks on this forum wanted us to trade Fielder straight up for Duke.
  6. We had Will Middlebrooks at 3B several years ago but his name was Bill Hall
  7. I would support any opportunity for Yuni to set the record for worst WAR in a season. I think this would quickly help his cause.
  8. Pure speculation but I wouldn't be surprised if he didnt' make it past the Cubs.
  9. ^^ I meant to post that in the Sellers at the Trade Deadline thread.
  10. We can still potentially move Axford until 8/31 as I think he's likely to clear waivers (or if he doesn't, let him go for the salary relief), but I'm disappointed that we couldn't put together another trade where we'd deal a reliever or Aoki. IMO, this was the optimal time to move Aoki as he's still cheap and under control through all of next season.
  11. I guess I'm surprised that you think that Roache, Arcia, and Coulter are more likely to be contributors at the major league level. Delmonico has had much more success with the bat at the A-ball level. Coulter seems to have the same questions about his defensive position and Roache is certainly not known for his defensive skill. Here's how I'd rank our hitting prospects: 1) Taylor - similar level of success as Delmonico at a younger age with a more clear position 2) Delmonico - success with the bat as a 20 yr old in A/A+ ball, no clear position but has the tools to be a 3B 3) Haniger - Good defensive skill with decent success in A/A+ ball but older than Delmonico 4) Arcia - If he can develop into an average hitter, he jumps 5) Coulter - still needs to prove himself as a hitter in A ball and find a position. 6) Roache - moderately successful in A ball with the bat but defense is limited
  12. I disagree that he'd be a 3-4 round guy. He signed for >$1.5M which means that at least the Orioles valued him as a late-1st/supplemental guy. BA says that he was viewed as a possible first rounder but part of the reason he fell to the 6th was due to his committment to Georgia. He is currently under .250 for his batting average for his career, however his BABIP is a relatively low .273 at the moment. Given his foot speed and tendency to hit fly balls, I wouldn't expect him to carry a "high" BABIP but there's no reason he couldn't manage a more normal .290-.300 BABIP which would leave him as a ~.265-.275 hitter. I don't think that most on this board are expecting Delmonico to be another Prince Fielder but he has a pretty good shot to be an average-to-above average 1B/3B in a couple years. And given that we picked up K-Rod off the scrap heap and he had no long-term value to the team, getting even an "okay" prospect should be considered a steal.
  13. A low pressure season for Wily Peralta to work out his problems. If we were a contending team, I think it's likely that Peralta would have been pulled out of the rotation a while ago. Hopefully we can get an extended look at Thornburg over the remainder of the year as well.
  14. I have to think Delmonico slots in as a top 5 prospect for us, possibly as high as #2. I'm now hopeful that we can get similar return for Axford.
  15. Well let's see... we have the three most difficult defensive positions covered for the foreseeable future with average or better players.
  16. Marcum like FB...? Where did you get that scouting report? Everything I've read this year says that he works more like Gallardo did at that age, 91-94 and topping out in the mid 90s. Skaggs velocity has increased each of the last 2 seasons, he's from the some Angles draft class as Mike Trout. You might be looking at a draft day report? It's only 45 innings in the bigs but Pitch F/X has him at 89.4 last year and 89.8 this year.
  17. I'd take that deal in a second if I'm the Brewers but I don't think the D-Backs would. I think you can make a case for Yo in exchange for either of the pitchers but the rest of the deal seems like trading a dollar for four quarters.
  18. I think we'd get laughed off the phone if we offered that for Bradley and Skaggs. Ax and K-Rod are having great years but they are true rentals. I think it's highly unlikely that the D-Backs are going to trade a legit ace prospect for 30 innings of each. The Brewers will likely end up with a teams top 10-20 prospect for either of those guys. Henderson may be a different story as he still has a few years of team control. However, he's already 30 so maybe we'll get a team's #7-8 ish prospect but I wouldn't imagine too much more than that.
  19. I think the risk with Skaggs is that his stuff might not be as good as reported. Pitch F/X has his fastball in the 89-90 range. Not horrible but it makes it more difficult for him to be a 1-2 starter and may end up as more of a 3 (I haven't seen him pitch so I really have no opinion on that). However, given that he's essentially free for the next 3 years compared to $12-$15M for Yo, and I have a hard time believing that the excess value provided by Skaggs wouldn't exceed that of Gallardo. If we could do like Yo/Ax for Skaggs/Davidson, I'd personally wet myself.
  20. Arrieta is just a lottery ticket at this point and the Cubs got $388K of bonus pool money to sign a couple teenagers. It seems as though the Orioles have given up on Arrieta ever becoming a productive major leaguer. Even though Feldman is having a nice season, I don't think this deal really sets the market for Gallardo. But if it does, I'd certainly just hold onto Yo.
  21. So getting back on topic... given his disappointing season, what would be the bare minimum folks would be willing to accept in a deadline trade for Gallardo as opposed to holding onto him and hoping he turns things around (and potentially trading him at next year's deadline)?
  22. We should keep Yuni on the roster all year but only use him against elite RHP to see if he can get his OBP below .200
