  1. Haren would be amazing, but I shudder to think what we'd have to give up. Definitely would rather have him than Peavy.
  2. Thanks for the great recap! So, the Manatees can clinch tomorrow with a win and a Daytona loss. Go Fort Myers!
  3. Could it just be that Hardy got the full day off because his back was barking?
  4. Cat could move to middle infield in a pinch. In the sense that Braun could move to third base in a pinch, yes.
  5. I don't think you burn your last middle infielder in the 7th inning. If it were the 9th, I would have disagreed with Macha.
  6. I agree with the move not to PH for Counsell - you PH Hardy for Catalanotto because you've already burned Hall. That way you get to keep Hart in the game in RF, and possibly Hardy at SS without running the risk of running out of middle infielders.
  7. I wouldn't be so sure that they are waiting until the end of the game to announce anything - it could have more to do with getting all parties involved to agree with the trade.
  8. I've gotta guess that Peavy is the first option, and barring that, Bedard and Lee are fallbacks. Makes sense - Melvin has to be comfortable dealing with Zdurencik and Shapiro.
  9. I'm trying to wrap my mind around a 285 pound third baseman.
  10. On the shelf with Tommy John surgery.
  11. If I'm doing the math right, Brevard's magic number is 1. Win tonight, playoffs! Win tonight, it's also the last we might see of Wooten and/or Axford in Florida. They've more than earned promotions to AA.
  12. Watching Heckathorn's delivery makes my arm hurt. I don't see how they won't have to rework his mechanics to at least a moderate degree. And it's not just that he's short-arming the ball, it appears he's not good at hiding the ball either. He's waving that baseball around for anyone who is looking. Heckathorn has a really great arm obviously, but if he doesn't get arm troubles with that delivery, I'd be surprised. Hopefully the Brewers can get his motion straightened out, and keep him in the same velocity range, and keep his arm healthy. Besides Arnett, I love the Walla and Hall picks.
  13. I wouldn't mind at all if the Brewers let Jeffress finish out 2009 in Brevard. He can build up some innings and dominate - doesn't sound like a bad thing to me.
  14. Michael Marseco's OPS is beginning to make me blush.
  15. Here's to Rob Hinton getting on a roll with the Stars. His arm is almost as good as Aguilar's, and Hinton has the better offspeed stuff. Bowman and Krestalude in Brevard have me geeked out - I really think the '08 draft is going to pay huge pitching dividends starting next year. We're going to have big pitching depth, even if Jeffress continues to fail his tests. Damon Krestalude was one of the few names linked with the Brewers pre-draft... he's a pretty big sleeper. Now if Blake Billings can just get up to Wisconsin. Adam Heether is a monster. Someone mentioned in the Heether thread he "doesn't have the body type to play shortstop" - what kind of body type info does that guy have?
  16. If I'm not mistaken, Brevard's magic number is 4... which also probably corresponds to the magic number of Rob Wooten in Florida.
  17. Michael Bowman made his Florida State League debut and started for the Manatees this evening.
  18. I doubt Dillard would be much effective a major league starter than Parra is right now... he just doesn't have an out pitch as a starter. What I'd do is send Parra down, call up Chris Smith and move McClung to the rotation. Chris Cody just got the bump to AAA - he's an ultra-soft tosser with results. If he keeps up the results, he could become an option in a few months.
  19. Was Green Day's appearance on tape from 1994? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  20. The ruling for the contest thing, not the ruling for how many games are actually played in June. For that, I count about 4 valid entries. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  21. I will go the traditional route and only predict games played in June for the June Prediction Thread: 16-11.
  22. They can just PTBNL them.Has there ever been a trade with 3-4 PTBNLs for a named player?
  23. Brewpitch, just curious, do you know who any of the seven other names in the hat were?
  24. Josh - if you see Anundsen throw, make sure to see what his radar gun readings are.
