  1. The Brewers slipped the Reds some cash to complete the Weathers trade.
  2. Not to take this too far off course... if the Brewers go with Gerut in CF, I'm pretty sure they'd platoon him with a right handed guy in order to get the platoon advantage and not force 600 PA on Gerut. They'd probably shoot to give Gerut 400-500 PA. It's a tough call - Cameron is exceedingly valuable, but the Brewers are truly hurting for quality pitching.
  3. I've been at work for almost 4 hours and I have to be at work for another 13 hours. My feeling about that could best be described as... ouyfhgovbj45hk8rtf^%#.
  4. I prefer keeping Cameron, but to play devil's advocate here for a second... Jody Gerut's UZR in CF has been good in his time there. I'm sure there would be a drop off defensively (and offensively) from Cam to Gerut, but if the Brewers can get a #1/#2 with Cameron's savings I'm pretty comfortable with Gerut out there.
  5. He should give up $12 million guaranteed to get 3 years/$30 million guaranteed. He's not going to get hurt between now and the time he signs his contract this winter, but he could get hurt sometime in 2010 and lose out on the $18 million difference (or whatever the difference is). I'd like the Brewers to go after him, but I would get nervous if it gets much beyond that 3 years/$30 million number I mentioned.
  6. Looks like Peterson might be the guy. Melvin recently confirmed an interview with the guy - the only interview he's confirmed - and now Peterson says "Milwaukee is at the very top of my list." Not only does Peterson want to be Milwaukee's pitching coach, but: "I'm looking for a home that embraces this [biomechanical] philosophy and wants to implement it throughout the organization," Peterson said. "Milwaukee, from what I can gather, is a forward-looking organization. To me, it's really exciting because I think the philosophies fit."
  7. I don't think Angel's frame is a particular hinderance in allowing him to catch 120 games, but his propensity for lingering injuries sure is. He's eclipsed 100 games twice in four full years, and even then he barely got over the hump, appearing in 105 games ('06) and 101 games ('08, counting his stint in Milwaukee). Lucroy's healthiness and defense makes him the better prospect right now, even if Salome has the high upside at the plate.
  8. I'll take a shot... 1)Cut Corey Patterson ASAP 2)Trade Hart, Brendan Katin and a Michael Bowman-type prospect to the Royals for David DeJesus 3)Trade Hardy to the Orioles for Guthrie and Liz 4)Trade McGehee and Iribarren to the Twins for Anthony Swarzak, Philip Humber and a Chris Parmelee-type prospect 5)Sign Rich Harden 6)Sign Brian Schneider 7)Sign Jamey Carroll or more simply, add Adam Heether to the 40-man 8)Re-sign Cameron, Counsell and Catalanotto 9)Don't pick up Looper's or Weathers' option and non-tender McClung and possibly Bush* Everyday lineup: LF - DeJesus (L) 2B - Weeks RF - Braun 1B - Fielder (L) CF - Cameron 3B - Gamel (L) SS - Escobar C - Schneider (L)/Rivera platoon Bench: Counsell, Carroll/Heether, Catalanotto, Gerut, the other catcher Rotation: Gallardo/Harden/Guthrie/and two of Parra/Suppan/Bush/Narveson/Swarzak/Butler, probably in that order of likelihood Bullpen: Coffey, Stetter, DiFelice, Vargas, Narveson, Villanueva, and one of Bush/Smith/Axford, probably in that order of likelihood Closer: Hoffman *I guess I can see the motivation behind non-tendering Bush, but only if you know you're going to bring in enough depth to cover it. The AAA rotation would be Swarzak/Butler/Humber/Cody/Liz, along with Axford, Wooten, Hinton, Bramhall, Welch, Johnson and Baron in the bullpen. Not too bad for depth and potential.
  9. I like how Lucroy blocked third base with his knee/catching gear and totally nailed the guy in the face. That's a pretty unique play.
  10. Mat Gamel needed 4 ABs today to graudate off the Power 50 (and become ineligible for ROY next year), and he got 3.
  11. Chris Narveson must have put Macha in a zim zam. Congrats on your 30th start, Jeff, I guess.
  12. I disagree. From an organizational standpoint, the best thing that could happen is he could have a Hall of Fame pitching career.
  13. Call up Amaury Rivas and give him a start... he has to be added to the 40-man anyway.
  14. Chris Snyder is having back surgery and he is owed $11.25 mil over the next two seasons. I love his plate discipline and power but I am dubious about the idea of spending that much money on a catcher with a bad back and a career .233 BA.
  15. Martin Maldonado's inclusion would seem to indicate he'll be coming back for the 2010 season. According to what we knew, he was going to be a free agent this offseason. More free haircuts next spring training!
  16. It's too bad Butler pitched yesterday. He might have been able to give 4-6 innings tonight.
  17. Hey ya'll - just bought a house in St. Paul and we want to get the furnace, central air and electrical panel checked out by the applicable licensed contractors. Can anyone make any good recommendations? Thanks in advance. Feel free to PM if you want.
  18. Branyon.
  19. The Brewers shouldn't bring back Kendall, and I'm also not comfortable just handing the job to Rivera while we wait for Lucroy/Salome. Brian Schneider had an off year at the plate in '09 so he might come pretty cheap, but he's regarded as a good defensive catcher and has a career OPS of 700. He bats lefty too. I could handle a Schneider/Rivera platoon until one of the kids is ready.
  20. You're totally bias about that belief.

  22. Thanks alot.
  23. 1. No significant injuries to significant players. 2. Winning more games would be nice. 3. Give Mat Gamel 8 more ABs so he can graduate off the Power 50 at the end of the year.
  24. I just picked an apple from my apple tree in my backyard in my new house.
